  • In this video I show my process in making foam axes that are perfect for Cosplay or halloween. This process is relatively easy and is a good first project if you want to get into foam weapon building and cosplay prop making. I hope you enjoy and learn something from it. If you make one of these yourself id love to see it, send me a picture over to my instagram "CWLbuilds" same as my youtube name.

To anyone who doesn't have a soldering iron or wood burning tool (like me), I just used a box cutter to carve what I wanted (make sure to draw out the design first, as well as test it on a separate piece of eva foam) and brought a heat gun to it like he did for the cuts in the front.

Amazing build bro! But one thing. Why is the music so sad sounding lol. (no hate btw)

Thanks! For the music I just try to find songs that are ambient enough to fill the silence but aren't distracting and are also royalty free. A lot of the music that falls into those category's often are slow and melodic and so sound sad. :)

What was the thickness of the EVA foam that you used? I want to build a headless horseman prop and your axe looks very much like his and that is what caught my attention.

Hi, I'm not this creator (obviously) but, the foam this creator used was the standard thickness of EVA foam mats, which measure out to about 3/8" (Or three eights of an inch. Or, 0.9525 CM) I hope it works out well for you! :)

Make sure to heat seal the foam before spraying plastidip

Why didn't you use a nut to make a mechanical connection for the axe head?

what grit do you use on your belt grinder for foam? am borrowing one and have no clue what I'm doing. but it just ate the foam up, could not make a smooth surface.

any grit 120 and below i use for taking off a lot of material, 320 to 600 is good for smoothing out the foam. Just take light passes with it.

I know I'm really late, but for anyone else who missed it he said it's a 1.25 inch wooden dowel 👍

I did it myself with the Woodglut plans. I think this is the best way to find out how to build it.
