  • This trek into DIY tech has us assembling the ZD550 quadcopter frame. This will be an ongoing project that will feature remote ID, as well as camera gimbal installation among others.
Rumor on the net is that the boom hinges are very hard to assemble because of the lack of documentation. I tried to use the video from the provided link associated to the Amazon listing I bought it from. It was pretty bad. If you've purchased this frame, hopefully this video helps. There are timestamps bellow so you can go right to the part you need to see.

Thanks to you, I was able to assemble the zd550.
After that, I attached a flight controller and flew it, but the vibration was noticeable and I am currently looking for a way to improve it.
    Is there any noticeable vibration?
Please let me know if there is any way to improve it.

There are many ways to dampen vibrations. The first thing to do is isolat where the vibrations are coming from. Unfortunately, with a folding frame, alot of the vibration can come from the hinges, especially if the spring loaded locking pins have any play. I use dampers similar to the ones used in FPV quads to mount the flight controller to the frame. Depending on which flight controller you are using, you may have to use them. The firmness of the damper also is dictated by the frequency of the vibration you are trying to tamp down. DM me at info@bentsprockettech.com and I'll try to give you some help.

      Thank you for your reply.
I found the cause and solved it.
      The causes are as follows:
      1. The screws on the hinge were loose so I tightened them
      2. Lack of understanding of ESC calibration (stick position when motor started)
      3. Mismatch in MOT_SPIN_MIN setting
      4. Incorrect connection between S.BUS and S.BUS2 of FUTABA receiver and flight controller
Once I fixed these 4 points, the vibration disappeared.

Hey what is the top plate mounting pattern for the autopilot board mounting?

The truth is, this thing has a kabillion mounting holes on it. Unfortunately, they don't match up to anything I recognize. They're not 20 x 20mm, 30 x 30mm, or any of those. The slots are on 47mm centers and the holes are an octagonal 63mm diameter. Hope that helps. I'll be touching on it in a later video where I install the flight controller.

While the holes on the top plate are all 63mm on center in an octagonal pattern, I found that the bottom plate actually has a 3030 FPV pattern. Details - ua-cam.com/users/shorts2z4_EojbA88.
