On taito's official site they held a twitter contest at beginning of the year asking players what games they should add in a SD card update, i think they full intend to sell more game bundles as time goes on via SD card expansion. Might end up with more games to use the spinner panel with. Ended up just going with the full "sell a kidney" mega bundle. The guidebook and soundtack collection are really nice as are the instruction cards that go on the top too.
The extras are the only thing I'm salty about not having lol We surmised that extra packs would come out later too; hopefully that will be a reality, as it would be quite the game changer (pun fully intended)

Great review. I'm hoping that Hori will release their modular dual stick/rotary/spinner/trackball suite of controllers that they asked for feedback on recently - would be a great fit for Arcade Archives and for the MiSTer.
After the firmware update to 1.1 the trackball and paddle games appear in the main menu as long as the controller is connected, no SD card necessary. Arkanoid controls feel much smoother than the base version, the feeling of hitching is completely gone.
The "hitch" I described is actually something mechanical in our controller, not an in-game quirk. I'm glad they patched basically all of the complaints we outlined here, it makes us feel heard. Hopefully the response time too, though I haven't checked yet.
Man these controllers (though maybe not the trackball and paddle one due to the price and mileage you might get out of it) and the Egret II Mini look really nice mini consoles to have and the library of the system is really nice, it's shame these are limited quantities and pricy. Pretty good review on these controllers and the arcade system.
Oh, I'm actually not sure. It was a freeware doujin title but I don't remember which. For the second after chorensha68k, that's SF Beluga or something along those lines. It's on DL Site and it's awesome.
One question: why the first level of Arkanoid is so different from the one seen when the arcade was released in Europe or in USA? Maybe this is a revision or the Japanese version?
It worked with doujins and indies but I had trouble getting most Steam games to pick it up. Customizing f the controls might help, but outside of the DRM free stuff, it's not a guarantee.

Edited: MAME and emulators might be able to use the trackball, but it doesn't really register very well by default, since no buttons get picked up. I say might though, as I don't have any experience with MAME at all. I've heard that there are some folks trying to get it to work, but so far have had no luck.

Yes! A Hori ACA-centered "all-enabled" control suite would be excellent.

Set the paddle speed to 2 on the options screen of the Arkanoid games. Makes a world of a difference....

Does the deluxe side arcade stick work for pc so I can play fighting games with it?

@@StudioMudprints it sounds like it's a directinput controller, should work if you use Steam Input to make it act as an xbox controller
