Having everyone use double beds will make any future metalhorror infestations worse- anyone who shares a bed with someone harboring the infestation is guaranteed to receive it themselves.
Regarding the anima tree, the grass growing speed is affected by PLAYER BUILT structures within a 35 tile radius and can be up to a -30% growing speed. You need to move their hut further away since the circle only shows 28 tiles max. Hit the "i" icon after selecting the anima tree to see the debuff. Cool episode as always and keep up the great work!

For the artificial structures affecting anima grass growth, this was added in patch 1.3.3067, prior to that it only affected meditation psyfocus gain. I still like to build bases around anima trees in my games despite the -30% penalty so my pawns can actually reach the tree instead of spending half the day walking to it and back.

Ironic that it is polar bears you'll have to fight off, considering your fundraiser, but I think it's only thematically fitting and more than worth it. I, at least, most definitely want to see both void anomaly things and high-level psi magic brought to bear (heh) against the now further heightened challenges. Really looking forward to seeing the blood rain in action too, that'll be the most satisfying way to deal with raiders, even moreso than dropping a war queen on them.
