The thing that annoys me about this movie... Sophie's friends in Mamma Mia were never mentioned again. Where'd they go?

The only thing I’m confused about is that in the first movie, it depicted the three guys as a bunch of hippies and rockstars, with one of them having eye tattoos on his knees... in this movie, none of that is depicted, and instead their a bunch of hot dudes in their 20s-30s....

I think I read somewhere that when making this movie, they didn’t want to be held back by plot points in the first one made purely for comedic purposes. They had no intention of making a sequel so they didn’t think that far in the future at the time.
I fully agree! I watched this movie only to accompany my mom and her middle-aged ladyfriends (hey, free popcorn) and had no idea what it'd be about other than a sequel to the original Mamma Mia. When I realized it was a movie of flashbacks, the one thing that really excited me was the thought of getting to see those colorful characters that were hinted at in the first movie! When they were all plain-ass "pretty boys" I was thoroughly disappointed. Utilizing the characters from the first movie would've made for a much more interesting story, in my opinion.
Why are you confused exactly ? Obviously that part was changed ... they had no credibility...
Biggest Sin: LITERALLY NONE of the details in Donna’s diary matched up with the plot of this movie. They literally had it SO EASY. The timeline of events, where they went, what they did etc. was all laid out for them but I guess they just said “Screw it” 🤷🏼♀️ Also there were multiple points in the first movie that indicated Donna’s mother being DEAD AND GONE

Well, except the dot dot dotsL the sequal faithfully had three off-screen sex scenes. But yeah, I too noticed Donna's mother was implied to be dead at one point in the original: At 00h 53m 09s, to be exact: "Somebody up there has got it in for me. I bet it's my mother." "And wasn't _she_ a ray of sunshine!"

I was classically trained and have sung professionally off and on over the years and I disagree with him too. Besides the scene he picked she wasn't supposed to be singing her best. It was on purpose. having said that...this movie was a far cry from Les Mis!

3. The main sin of bringing in Cher was how it reminds us how badly everybody else is singing in this movie.
The second sin of Cher being in the movie is that Donnas mom is supposed to be dead according to the first one
The third sin of having Cher is her one song in the main movie is ONLY due to Garcia’s part having the name Fernando. THAT IS IT AND IT IS SO LAZY.

I’m surprised he didn’t talk about how the timeline didn’t match up and how she couldn’t have gotten pregnant until like 8 or 9 years later...
The problem is they stuck b.c with the original timeline of the Broadway musical which was set in 1999. So it added up. The movie was made in 2008 and 2018. All they had to do was make the flashback 1989 and all would add up

to me the sinniest sin was the costumes of the locals. I mean I get it, filming in Greece was too expensive and they went for Croatia, but seriously I bet even non greeks feel something is off... I am not even talking about the obviously different scenery - in the first one it was all aegean, barren and rocky, and here it's suddenly all green. Even the actors who are supposed to be greek, speak it broken. Also when I saw it I actually LOLed with the storm thing, and legit thought of the same thing.
I watched the trailer for this and I thought the plot was that Meryl Streep travelled back in time after she slid down the banister considering how they framed it. I would unironically watch that.

I disagree, I think Sophie was the selfish one. According to the first movie, she knew from the get-go that he didn’t want to live there forever. But she did. She eventually agrees to leave the island with him and live the life he’s been wanting. then in the second movie, she takes it all back and is like “nah, we livin here now forever homie, cause mama died and I must devote my life to her spirit.”
He was understanding in the first movie about her not wanting to leave her mom. I’d also be irritated though if the mom dies/leaves and my SO is still unwilling to live their own life.
Shananananon He didn’t care whatsoever about Sophie’s poor mom, if just wanted her to want he wanted. If I was her I would have broken up with him immediately after that phone conversation. So Sophie is in the right here!
They forgot to sin the fact that the guests are flying into Athens when Athens is nearly 7 hours away from the Island this takes place on, which is the fictional Greek island, Kalokairi, which is based on the real Greek island Skopelos. Skiathos International airport would've been a much better choice for guest to fly into as it is much closer. They also forgot to sin the fact that given that Skopelos is located East of the Greek mainland, if you sailed past it you would end up in Turkey. People in Europe thought you'd sail off the edge of the world if you sailed west, not east. They knew Asia was in the East.
For most Greeks, *isn't* Turkey the end of the world? 😂

I disagree with the Waterloo sin. I don't think it's comparing the love to the defeat of Waterloo, I think it's comparing how she *fell* in love like how Napoleon fell in waterloo. Like I mean that she lost the war, so to speak, and fell in love

Last note about this video: why didn’t you mention the timeline? If Donna had just graduated uni and less than a year later she was pregnant with Sophie and the flashbacks are all in the 70s like makes sense for ABBA (and Donna graduates from Uni in ‘79) then Sophie would be way way older in the present day. Someone else has pointed out that the present day is actually 1999 and the movie is trying to line up with that as canon, the same year ABBA came out on broadway 🎭 , but that would make the presence of iPhones in Sophie’s present day wrong. Sophie would be 37 or 38...

They did a good job finding people who could be younger versions of the actors... Though I'm kinda surprised that they didn't bring in a younger Skarsgård to be the younger Skarsgård... There's a whole bunch of them running around and they undeniably look alike

Cinemasins is the best thing I've ever found in my entire life. I put these videos on while I work at home and my dogs are actually so used to hearing Jeremy's voice once the videos start they just chill out on the couch, and one of my dogs actually just watches the TV for hours. It's pretty awesome.

Ummm...if my memory serves me right, bohemian rhapsody won an academy award for best editing.
It's a great film and they all act and look the part but it diverted from the truth of Queens rise to fame. They added scenes that didn't happen in real life such as Brian May creating the beat to We will rock you in the studio... Or the animosity between Freddie and the other members when he left. They didn't hate each other atall, quite the opposite. Roger and Freddie were in his Great pretender cover.
Lady Lexalot Kinda ironic given that people have made videos about the bad editing. There are a million cuts in the café scene where Mercury wears the white shirt thing that are unnecessary.

Did anyone else notice the mix up with Harry Brite's guitar? In the first movie, Donna has it in her collection of the past, because Harry borrows it and Sophie mentions it as her "mom's guitar." In number 2 he had the guitar still on the docks as she's sailing away. It doesn't mention him ever going back to the island for her in the second movie to my knowledge. That and the fact that Donna died 'off screen' were the major problems I had with these movies. Love them otherwise!

Hmm, I still haven't seen this movie. I tried holding off judgment when there was speculation whether Donna was dead or not, then when it was confirmed my hopes dwindled. Plus, all of the gaping plot holes; because sometimes, I just love to ignore spoiler warnings; didn't do anything to assuage those dwindling hopes. This video has possibly saved me from wasting my time seeing the movie. Because really, what was the point of killing Donna off? The fact that Sky was barely present himself just reinforces my belief that if they just had to kill Donna off, they should've done it by way of an accident that also included Sky, and could've been made into a good storyline. I know there are people that liked it, but I loved the original, and this just seems like a slap in the face of a cash grab, because, Nathan Fillion sound alike, you're right, it was a totally unnecessary sequel. Alas, I may still have to see it if only to confirm my own bias, or somehow be miraculously surprised....though, somehow, I get this feeling I'll be ruing the studio for making an amazing cast come back after 10 years to make a terrible, nonsensical sequel.

If Meryl didn't want to be in the sequel they couldn't do that without killing her off. Simple. The movie had some changes and plot holes, but overall was brilliant. And how can you say it was terrible, ninsensical movie without even watching it? Based on this video that skipped 90% of the movie just to entertain people? I watched the movie 30 times in the cinema and loved it. This video made me laugh as I know it is made for fun. Go and watch the movie and then judge
@@Tessunia I'm not saying it is definitively terrible, just that there are certain elements that are a bit off putting for me. But, yes, these are only surface elements, I won't know for sure whether the movie is for me or not until I see it.
I mean the first movie was just as nonsensical and that’s in the spirit of the film. Yeah the timeline doesn’t add up and some characters are simple but they’re dancing and singing ABBA and it’s just so much fun to watch that I don’t care. It’s the exact same feeling I got watching the first film.
The outtakes at the end were exceptional. The Soul Glo bit had me in stitches - and hankering to rewatch 'Coming to America' for the bajillionth time.
I'm pretty sure that co-songwriters Benny and Bjorn have said in interviews that they considered "When I Kissed the Teacher" to be a personal favorite out of the entire ABBA catalog. (Personally, I've always thought that it's superior to "Mamma Mia" or "Dancing Queen." ) However, I would imagine that, nowadays, if you started singing it in the middle of your valedictorian speech, at least half your classmates would walk out in protest because they felt Triggered.
I got dragged to see this at the cinema and when Cher said "Fernando?" I swore out loud enough that the people in front turned round to stare at me. Good times.

I never watched this movie but I am glad I watched this video for one simple reason.
Jeremy's alliterative talent and whimsical wordplay are well worth whatever time it takes to hear the sublime rhymes he playfully placated the public with while maliciously mocking the musical misery this miscarriage "Mamma Mia" made.
