He chose YT specifically because it can be monitized. It bothers me less with shows like Fallon, Meyers, and Colbert because even though they are filming at home and uploading portions to YT, they have always uploaded portions of their shows to YT, and their primary form of distribution is still through traditional media. With JK, it really feels like he is invading a space that truly doesn't belong to him, and using a crisis to profiteer, which is just shitty. And then he sells the concept to be distributed through traditional media anyway. Why not just pitch the show to networks to begin with? Why invade UA-cam? I would probably never have wanted to watch the Paddingtons or Little Women or Tree of Life or even Fast 5 (which I still haven't watched but I will) if it wasn't for your interesting and passionate discussions of them. Enjoy your break and I hope to see more soon
"Can you imagine if they tried to make heavy dramas where everyone is constantly singing ABBA songs?" Like, if someone filmed CHESS? (technically not ABBA I know lol)
This movie makes me cry...EVERY SINGLE TIME. I could watch it everyday, it’s such an enigma of a movie and I find that most people that watch it regardless of if they like the first one or not, love the second movie.
YES. My wife convinced me to watch both the original and then, in theaters, the sequel. I didn't know what to expect, but I was floored by just how good the sequel was. The transitions between time periods alone were amazing. I also spent much of the run time quietly cynical about Meryl Streep not being in it - *of course* the Oscar winner didn't want to come back for their silly movie, so they wrote her out. So obvious! And then the finale happened and I understood that they had made the choice that best worked for the story they wanted to tell, and yeah, it got me. Just watching that part again when you were talking about it choked me up.
I have a very unpopular opinion on Meryl Streep in the first movie but I honestly felt she was miscast. It was probably the first and last time I disliked Meryl in a movie.

@@bonesgrey I see where you're coming from. I felt she was too old to play Donna - there's rumours that Nicole Kidman wanted the role before Meryl got the rights to the play, which is also wrong because back in 2008 Nicole was too young-looking. The thing about Meryl's is even more noticeable when you pair her with the eternally teenage looking Amanda Seyfried and when we have to accept that just 25 years ago she was post-grad Lily James. But she's so funny and joyful in the first movie and so gutwrenching in the second that any argument turns invalid.
It's because ms. Streep doesn't do sequels. Have u seen her in a sequel pf her own movies before this? She only agreed to do cameo here because of her love of ABBA.
Patrick: Who is the target audience of Mamma Mia? Me: Uh me who saw the original in theaters three times as an 11 year old and had the soundtrack on cd
Mamma Willems: “ belligerent impudence “ I wish she had really said it with the force and conviction of Mad Eye Moody’s: “Constant Vigilance” In my head, she did and it was hilarious.
The target audience for Mamma Mia! is wine moms and future wine moms, and I have a wine mom and my sister is a future wine mom so, I've obviously seen both. Several times. And I agree wholeheartedly with your take. Though Here We Go Again beats the original just by virtue of Cher being there. Like, I didn't KNOW I needed to hear her sing Fernando, but like, I DID. I also didn't know I needed to hear her tell Sophie that holding grudges makes you fat, but I did.
One of the greatest blessings of my life was growing up with two sisters who my parents raised me to see as equals. It gave me an insight into women that a lot of guys bizarrely still struggle with after decades of adulthood, marriage and children. Our culture...grrr. So basically, that means I've seen Mamma Mias 1 & 2, multiple versions of Little Women and the Bronte epics, have heard lots about Mr. Rochester and Mr. Darcy AND the bathing scene in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice etc.
hah The respect Mamma Mia 1 is the best and it only got 50% and Mamma Mia here we go again gets 90% scew the 2nd one jeez no one can respect the originals anymore, how sad

I’ve only seen your little women video and this one (two of my unironically favorite movies) and I’m just gonna assume those is what all of your content is
I really liked Mamma Mia when I first saw it, and I don't think I was drunk watching it, considering I was a minor at the time, but there's no way to know for sure also Sophie's grandmother was "dead" because Donna hated her mom
When I went to see this movie I actually hadn’t seen the first one (tho I knew the story/premise) but I went with my mom and sisters and we had an absolute blast. Months later, I saw the stage production of the original with my best friend and also had a blast. I think I saw both pieces as originally intended! 😂
This is the first video of yours I have ever seen and in fact I never even heard of you before but goddammit I will watch anything that talks about Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! , the movie that made me sob in a movie theatre because I love my mom... that was kinda rant-y and possibly incoherent, my point is good video, loved the analysis 10/10 chef's kiss
I agree: "The Road Warrior" (a.k.a. "Mad Max 2") is the best sequel. (Worst well-made sequel: Shinya Tsukamoto's "Tetsuo II: Body Hammer.") And I still think that Patrick's "Little Women" video is terrific.
Charl watching "Mamma Mia four times" can hardly come as a surprise. Having dated both Agnetha in the sixties and Meryl in the seventies that nut probably has a serious stroll down memory lane each time he watches.
1: Búla bos a mhamaí, nice to know I'm not the only one who falls back on cúpla focal in awkward moments! 2: Its a very small thing, but it's genuinely really nice to see Jake and Rachel improve week on week 3: Can't give you a full gritty thriller about ABBA, but Ben Wheatley's High Rise used SOS as something of an overture, and had a super intense cover by Portishead as the closing credits
Patrick, as a part of your male audience, I just think that Little Women came out a few months ago and that we're just not ready to watch something that's that young in a video. I want to see your video, I just haven't watched the film yet. Keep up the excellent work! And great video about a musical I never planned to watch.
Another winning video!! I'm loving this trend, honestly. But yeah, you're so right about the sequel being an improvement. My sister and I decided to watch them both back-to-back a few weeks ago (it's a rough time, okay??), and, while the first one is a fun drunken romp, the sequel flows so much better, and brings the pathos while also being more genuinely funny, and energetic without being frenetic. The musical numbers are way better, and like you said, Lily James is a STAR (and the whole young cast is truly remarkable).
Such a great video, I havent seen either Mamma Mia but have a great sense of nostalgia tied to them from watching the trailers a lot when the first one came out. It was just colorful and fun seeming. But this makes me want to see them both, especially the second one. I like these videos of talking about movies that your demo might not have necessarily seen or given a chance, in a lot of ways its more worth it than the usual fare (and this is coming from someone who eats up the usual fare) but I definitely appreciate these kinds of videos
I like the idea that a whole bunch of guys are sitting down to watch Little Women to the confusion of their families/girlfriends/flatmates, because a guy on UA-cam did a video about it.

I would probably never have wanted to watch the Paddingtons or Little Women or Tree of Life or even Fast 5 (which I still haven't watched but I will) if it wasn't for your interesting and passionate discussions of them. Enjoy your break and I hope to see more soon
Protesters: "ACAB!"
Patrick: "The best I can do is ABBA"
All Bastards Best Art?
Just wanted to let your Mom know that there's a few Irish speakers watching...
The next major war will be fought between the US and Ireland over who gets to claim her as a national treasure.
"Can you imagine if they tried to make heavy dramas where everyone is constantly singing ABBA songs?"
Like, if someone filmed CHESS? (technically not ABBA I know lol)
JSJDJFKFKJFN
I came here just to see if anyone had already commented about Chess! Nice
I really really really want Patrick to watch Chess. It's not Cats, but not far off...
I was literally seconds from mentioning chess! Thank you
Chess is severely under appreciated but it’s one of my favorite musicals so it’s nice to see people talking about it!
Me and a few friends went to see this opening day first showing as a joke and came out thinking "that was actually pretty good'
We can't forget the best use of ABBA songs in media: "Epidemiology", Episode 6 in Season 2 of Community!
Mamma Willems: “ belligerent impudence “
I wish she had really said it with the force and conviction of Mad Eye Moody’s: “Constant Vigilance”
In my head, she did and it was hilarious.
“You know Sophie, being a grudge holder makes you fat.”, oddly wise words to live by.
Mamma Mia Here We Go Again finally getting the damn respect it deserves
hah The respect Mamma Mia 1 is the best and it only got 50% and Mamma Mia here we go again gets 90% scew the 2nd one jeez no one can respect the originals anymore, how sad
i saw this video on my recommended and absolutely enjoyed it!! the two artists who covered the abba songs were amazing. i’m glad to help patrick’s 13% female audience number go up :)
I’ve only seen your little women video and this one (two of my unironically favorite movies) and I’m just gonna assume those is what all of your content is
"Can you imagine if they made a heavy drama with ABBA music?"
Toni Colette: [crying uncontrollably]
Oh my God what movie are you talking about
@@star88wars The scariest movie ever made....
"Muriel's Wedding".
😂😂😂
I just wish in the Hereditary dinner scene, the son had responded, 'Mama Mia, here we go again'
Patrick is bringing us the quarantine content we need
"And then there's Dancing Queen, obviously the best ABBA song"
Lay All Your Love on Me though.
Also Gimme Gimme Gimme (a Man After Midnight)
Don’t know why I clicked on this. Haven’t seen either of the Mama Mias
you should! it's a spectacle. Not to be taken seriously and just to have fun.
I believe it should be pluralized as Mammas Mia. It isn't, but it should be.
The people demand an isolated video of the Dancing Queen dance
I was a big fan of this one, and the Little Women one. Even if they're not big hits, they're big hits in my heart.
patrick is literally just making videos to cater to me at this point. thank you patrick.
Was Charl wearing a bullet proof vest?? I think he's one of those undercover cops everyone's talking about!
I dodn´t notice at first but when you pointed it out it makes sense!
I really liked Mamma Mia when I first saw it, and I don't think I was drunk watching it, considering I was a minor at the time, but there's no way to know for sure
also Sophie's grandmother was "dead" because Donna hated her mom
(Worst well-made sequel: Shinya Tsukamoto's "Tetsuo II: Body Hammer.")
And I still think that Patrick's "Little Women" video is terrific.
Charl watching "Mamma Mia four times" can hardly come as a surprise. Having dated both Agnetha in the sixties and Meryl in the seventies that nut probably has a serious stroll down memory lane each time he watches.
Yo haven’t seen any of the lil Women or Mama Miss but still found these last two vids interesting, keep up the great work!
I'm super onboard for the new content focus and Patrick's slow slide into madness!
This is genius. The joyous dance being shrunk and silenced while Patrick pours out his petty frustrations is transcendent.
1: Búla bos a mhamaí, nice to know I'm not the only one who falls back on cúpla focal in awkward moments!
2: Its a very small thing, but it's genuinely really nice to see Jake and Rachel improve week on week
3: Can't give you a full gritty thriller about ABBA, but Ben Wheatley's High Rise used SOS as something of an overture, and had a super intense cover by Portishead as the closing credits
_The Godfather Part II_ is the _Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again_ of _The Godfather_ trilogy.
Change my mind.
Patrick, as a part of your male audience, I just think that Little Women came out a few months ago and that we're just not ready to watch something that's that young in a video. I want to see your video, I just haven't watched the film yet. Keep up the excellent work! And great video about a musical I never planned to watch.
Irish speakers are definitely watching hahaha caught me so off guard!!
Is Gealgoir me, tá cupla focal agam. You're wrong Pat, there's at least one Irish speaker watching!
23:17 Woah there bud, "Lay All Your Love On Me" begs to differ
I'm an Irish speaker agus míle buíochas don Ghaeilge!
From the 13% I say thank you. Love your new direction for the show.
Also, suck it, Krasinski!
Videos like this one and Little Women are why I’m a nebula subscriber. Please never change!
Feels like this Krasinski feud started as a joke and then gradually became quite real
Well, now I want to see Mamma Mia Here we go again. Thanks for the heads up!
Just a head up it's not as good as the 1st
16:05 - Muriel's Wedding. Kind of.
"Jake needs to eat!" Awww. Made my heart happy.
As someone who passed the Leaving Cert I understood your mam PERFECTLY! Gaeilge abú!
Maith thú!
Ok, I just watched the 2 movies back to back just to be able to enjoy this video fully....
Okay, the cut to Charl was genuinely hilarious.
I love being in the 13% audience and getting tailored content :D Thanks Patrick!
For those who haven't watched the episode of Little Women, you missed a good one.
But I haven’t seen the movie yet and I don’t want spoilerrrrrrrrrs
@@brynsussex2967 been there: highly recommend watching the video after Little Women.
I like the idea that a whole bunch of guys are sitting down to watch Little Women to the confusion of their families/girlfriends/flatmates, because a guy on UA-cam did a video about it.
Got the movie downloaded, don't want to spoil it by watching thick thwillims no doubt insightful video beforehand. Looking forward to Little Women cos 1) Lady Bird was awesome and 2) my crush on Emma Watson just won't quit.
So did anyone else fear that the vein on Patrick's forehead was going to burst during his end of video rant against Krasinski? Like I thought I was mad at Krasinski....
I AM playing the drinking game (bc why not???) and I'm halfway through the vid and I'm startin to feel it mr krabs lmao also I'm so confused you don't have a bajillion subs??? Your videos are amazinh???
Edit - those last few Krasinskis killed me a little oh my godddddd
The Road Warrior? I mean I guess, but I totally would have guessed Terminator 2.
please roast the greatest showmen I need it as a theatre kid that had friends that played the soundtrack a whole bunch for some???? reason???
Your new content is my favourite stuff you’ve ever done, hope you slow down and don’t burn yourself out making it but when Jakes dancing segment started and then you sat back and the poster fell of the wall I couldn’t help but laugh out loud x
Me as a part of Patrick’s 0% nonbinary audience, I guess: this is a good start.
Idk how you do it, but each and every new episode is just getting better and better.
Came for the Mamma Mia content, stayed for the CIA Jim dragging.
Damn you, Willems. I watched this video 8 hours ago and now my mind is still playing Mamma Mia on repeat.
The only reason why I watch this is Jack's insightful political commentary and you decide to tell us its not gonna appear this week near the end of the vid? This is worse than what Krusinski did
