I don't know. It kind of bothers me a little because some of these continuity errors could have been avoided like young Harry changing his T-shirt before he arrived on the island. But then if they wanted Cher in the movie, the mother role was probably the best way to fit her in.
I wouldn't say bother per say. When I was watching Mamma Mia 2, I couldn't help but think that something was off. In fact I mentioned it to my friend who saw the movie with me as we were walking out of the theater. I told her I thought the sequence of who she was with was off and that I would have to watch the first one again. Such a hardship :)
My theory about the first one is: Donna thinks her mother is dead because, when Donna told her she was pregnant, her mother told her to not dare to comeback. So she thinks she is dead, because she knows nothing since then
Spot on! Bcause of the way Ruby disowned her daughter, she is dead to Donna and now Sophie struggles to forgive Ruby for not keeping contact with Donna.
True and correct because Donna words were " My mother told me to not bother to come back" And she did think she was dead because she never saw her again but she wasn't there to see
That part might keep me from watching this. Not that big on Cher to begin with and then they bring Donna's mom back from the dead JUST so they can shove Cher into the sequel.
I like to think that the original young sam, bill, and harry were an exaggerated version of how donna remembered them, and the guys in mamma mia 2 were how they actually looked like.
I just can't get over Donnas death..it's never even explained or anything they just kinda throw that into your face “yeah your favourite character is suddenly dead for no reason, deal with it.“ This is just so horribly sad that it overshadows the funny moments. I mean they didn't have to kill her off right? It would still be sad enough with all the flashbacks to young donna and the nostalgia.
That's just it too many inconsistencies and for what? So Ol Parker could get a smack on the back and a huge raise? Eyyy he didn't think it out at all it has so many issues in terms of plot. I think many people like it beause the singing and acting are great, but the story and directorial choices were poor in my opinion. Go watch the first one then immediately watch this it makes zero sense. Though if they make a 3rd they could explain the Donna death, but I think it would be more true to say she died in some boating accident, though knowing these guys they'll probably say it was cancer because THAT hasn't been done a million times or anything.
For a beloved character like Donna, they should have made a more meaningful tribute and explanation for her death than what we were given. I feel cheated.
Most of these didn't bother me at all, I passed them off as Donna`s interpretation of her own memories. The only thing I did notice was that in the first film Sam says that he and Donna conceived the idea of the hotel and he drew up plans for it on a napkin. That could have been a really cute scene.
I loved the second one even with all the slight changes. I think Lily James killed her role as Donna. And it was just overall very enjoyable. And I love the 70’s style.
Lily James killed it :-D and all the others comedians who played young ones, they killed all. The actors are not to blame but the story first... even it at least, it was a litlle bit good to watch... the first I blame is .. om... cher...why?
Sherrie Vitulli I noticed this too and when I mentioned it to my family, my mom said she though in the first movie they were there so it could be like Sophie and her friends and Donna and her friends but in the second one, Donna’s home so it’s like Sophie and her mom’s friends. It still bothers me but I can understand why they did that
1. It bothered me through the whole film that they didn’t address how Donna died. 2. In the first film, Rosie had never met Bill. In the second, young Rosie had a crush on him. 3. I think they should have followed the diary sequence of the guys. They could have made each relationship deeper in the second without changing the order.
relying to number 2 thats because Rosie has a crush on him and explains in the song angel eyes how he was a bit of a player and he could!! have have cheated on donna with Rosie and she catches him with donna by the river
Lauren Waksman the order is correct. You see, in the original movie Harry said he met her in Paris and when after Donna. In the new movie he misses the boat, so he gets late. In that time she met Bill on the way to the island, but doesn’t get to sleep with Donna. At the island she met Sam, after he fled, Bill showed up again and this time he had his, and then we have Harry again on the island where she shows him around when he surprises her
She slept with Sam first, then Bill then Harry. Go back and watch the first movie it's quite clear from the beginning in Mamma Mia one the order is off. Harry was supposed to make it to the island with his guitar and never did so they ended with Bill and her sleeping together.
Donna and Harry slept together BEFORE the island. Once she’s there: first she sleeps with Sam, then Bill, and as it said in the first movie “Harry showed up out nowhere”, it’s implied that Donna and Harry had something before, and in the first movie Harry says he met Donna in Paris and then when after her in Greece. He was just late. The order on the island is correct.
Did the differences bother me? Not at all.. The Mamma Mia films are pure entertainment, fun and enjoyable to watch, And enable people to escape world problems for a couple of hours. If these were serious films, then the differences Might matter. But they are not.
Another difference is Donna never talked about the three men. In the first movie Tanya and Rosie didn’t know there was three men. Donna told them in a bathroom when the men arrived on the island leading to the lovely song Chiquita. In the second film she brings them to the island and tells them about the three
Actually they do kinda know as Donna says rember I told you Sophies dad was Sam and she say we'll I'm not sure as there was 2 other guys around the same time Sam bill and Harry and Rosie said not Harry headbanger
Something really small I wish they included... the eye tattoos on Bill’s knees! Just because that’s what Donna spots first when the men are in the goat house, that defining feature was so different that she knew it was Bill so I wish they added it into the 2nd film :)
I love how they just threw the likelihood and realism out of the window with this movies. Pure fantasy and escapism. No commitment with reality whatsoever, but in the most cheerful way. I love it.
They are supposed to be fairytale like. Not all of it is unrealistic tho either. Its supposed to be representative of real life experiences. That is what musicals in this style and art form convey. Just like comedy movies. Stuff happening in the neighbors is soo unrealistic. But in order to tell its story in the style and art form that is intended, that is how its done. Also, most movies have unrealistic aspects. But it doesnt mean every part of the movie is unrealistic either. Most movies are forms of escapism for humans ourselves! They are a way of escaping into another world, another life for a little bit. To provide a lesson, a feeling, a new perspective. There are many things that come into play in storytelling and the realistic and unrealistic aspects come in a package together along with any form of art. Life itself has many moments or experiences that one could call 'unrealistic' but it happens. It depends on your perception and your context of what you believe is unrealistic or what. But this movie has tied the two aspects of realism and surealism beautifully into a piece that many can enjoy
Sophie's age was messed up quite a lot as well, because Donna apparently got pregnant around 1979/1980 so in 2018 Sophie would have been 38, but when talking to Cher she says that Cher was 25 years to late to be her grandmother. Also in the first movie she says she was 20 and that was in 2008, so by that logic she would be 30 in the 2018 film. So technically she has 3 different ages throughout the two films?
The first film is set in the 2000s, you can tell by the clothes of the characters and the low technology (no cell phones, computers), so if Sophie was born in 1980, she was 20 years old in 2000. If the second movie is set 10 years later, then it's the year 2010 and Sophie's 30 years old.
We’re not sure of what year this movie is set in though, all we know is that it’s a year after Donna's death. It could be set any time from 2010 to 2018.
The obvious plot hole I noticed was with the order of how Donna met Sam bill and Harry but I kind of like it better in the second movie more than the first because Donna was only ever truly in love with Sam and for Harry to have been her third “lover” would’ve felt kind of weird to me
That’s the only thing I noticed while watching the movie that was different the first was the order she met the guys. I still loved the movie though and I do agree it makes more sense.
BoneStudios15 it’s actually in the right order, in her diary entries she talks about sam leaving for his engagement, then how she goes off with bill and the how harry shows up after he takes the ferry. They just didn’t show Harry coming back but the diary enteries in the first movie suggest that Donna knew bill and Harry before those entries :))
I completely forgot about, didn’t even care about the plot holes. I was sucked in by the story, the music and the actor’s performances. One of my favorite movie musicals I’ve ever seen.
since they did a pretty unclear job at making time known throughout the film its not incredibly clear but if the time was somewhat close between Sam and Bill I think it could be either of them cause when Donna started throwing up that could be because Sam got her pregnant a month or so ago and she is now expirencing things like sickness or if there was a sizable gap between the two like a few month between them then it was probably Bill. One things for sure, its probably not Harry @@emillycalmon3456
@Maria Ferrao Actually, it is Bill. The writers from the first movie came out and said it in an interview. Added, in the first movie, we learn that Donna got the money for the B and B when Bill's aunt, Sophie (ie the woman who helped Donna birth Sophie and the mother of the owner of the bar in the second movie) gave her the money when she passed away. Bill says he always thought the money went to family and it did, his daughter and baby mamma. But the second movie heavily implied it was Sam who is the father. with all the time line mishaps, it is easy to think it was Sam, but again, it is Bill.
watching this movie was truly the happiest i’ve ever been (even though i was crying through more than half of it lol)! definitely not as good as the first but it’s still such a fun time!
When? By the time it ended, I had no idea what the plot was supposed to be. Y’all must really appreciate low-brow entertainment. There are plenty more inconsistencies than the ones highlighted in the video.
I have mixed feelings about this movie. I can't say I didn't liked it at all but I have some issues with it. I have to say that I didn't feel much of the ''Greekness'' that the first movie had... Maybe because I knew that they weren't filming in a greek island this time. Somehow I missed the greek culture if I make any sense... I know that the way they wanted to present ''Greekness'' in these films is through the eyes of a foreigner who loves Greece but I still feel the first movie did it right and the second, not so much. Also the very fact that Donna had died made me not to enjoy this movie as much as I would like. And the personality change of Donna's mother. I always imagined her to be a strict mother who was ashamed of her daughter getting pregnant at age 20 without even knowning the father and told her ''not to bother to come back home''. Maybe because of the shock of her daughter's death she had a change of heart? Still not buying it. Despite all that I really LOVED the music as always. I guess it is the most important think. Mamma mia is all about the awesome music of ABBA afterall.
In the first one they talk about how donnas mother disapproved of the baby because she as very catholic, in the second one it’s because she’s from Las Vegas
Donna also tells Sophie in the First Mamma Mia that her mother told her if she ever got pregnant not to come home. So that she didn’t have a choice but to raise her alone
I noticed most of the differences, but honestly that’s not what I watched the movie for. I wanted to have fun with ABBA tunes and have a great time with my family. Which I did. So it’s a good movie for me, despite of its flaws. :)
My idea is Bill. He's blonde, blue eyes, Donna too. Cher in the movie is also blonde. But her grandfather is not. The others are brunette, yes one of them has blue eyes but, brown hair is a dominant gene over blonde hair. So, must be Bill. Also, Sophie was named after Sofia, Bill's mom.
It could be any of them, even with the genetics. Both my parents have dark hair, one has hazel eyes and one has green. I'm blonde with blue eyes and definitely related to them. Even though dark hair and eyes is dominant, if they carry the recessive gene it cant be passed down and with Donnas blonde hair and blue eyes it would have only increased the chances.
If you laughed, sang, cried or moved to the music, then it did what it was supposed to do. It’s pure entertainment and made you forget about everything else for a couple of hours.
So funny i noticed all of these things as well. Lily James was so electric, passionate and fun as young Donna she stole the show. I adore both the films will hold very special places in my heart forever.
Olivia Robben personally I felt her take on Donna was a little obnoxious. Shes very pretty and i dont doubt shes a great person in real life but how she played the character was to me like an annoying “free spirited” woman version of a player
Honestly, when I first saw the trailer I was shocked that Meryl Streep wasn’t going to be in it for that long. But when I watched it I was absolutely in love. I’ve always been a fan of Cher and was so excited to see her in the movie. When Cher was singing Fernando it felt like that song was made for her. Still not over Cher and Meryl being in the same movie!!
Cher & Meryl were in a movie together in 1983. It was called "Silkwood" and it was unforgettably great. They both received Oscar nominations for their work & Cher won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.
Did anyone else notice how in the first movie right after Donna saw bill Sam and Harry she tells Tanya and Rosie who had no idea that she had relationships with bill and Harry yet in the second movie they knew that Donna had three boyfriends
Not sure if I’m remembering wrong but I also thought that they had never met any of the men before the plot in the first movie so when they meet bill in the second movie and Rosie says she’s in love with him I got confused bc I thought the first movie is when they met
I noticed that. They weren’t being very careful in their writing. They forgot to add that one to the list. Just watched the first one not long ago and realized that.
It could be that they just never knew she slept with them. Both women knew of "Harry headbanger". It figures Donna would only tell them about Sam being the possible father.
the biggest thing i noticed is that in the original, sam draws up plans for the hotel on the back of a menu, meanwhile in the sequel the farm house already exists and is simply built up. also im surprised they didn't hint more at bill's great aunt sofia in the sequel ( i think she is supposed to be the greek lady who owns the farm house?), also also, i'm disappointed that they didn't draw more on the legend of aphrodites fountain in this one. and finally, one inconsistency that bugged me in the sequel is that donna breaks the entire stiarcase trying to slide down the railing, but then it is magically restored?
YUP All of that. I think a lot of people didn't bother to re-watch the first or they'd be pretty upset. It's okay in my head Ol Parkers sequel didn't happen.
yes, I kept waiting for the movie to reveal the greek lady to be Bill’s great Aunt. I loved both movies but very disappointed in the lack of care the writers put toward continuity- a simple film-making 101 principle. If viewers can easily catch blatant inconsistencies, I think the writers should have prevented them, even the grandmother. Cher could have appeared in the flashbacks instead resembling Donna’s rant where her friends accused her of sounding like her mother. That would have been funny.
yes i noticed all this mistakes and also that about house- the owner was mother of a barman???? and i think in part one the greek lady was related to Bill, i think ....i felt like no one watch part 1 ...so unlogic....i really didnt like the second part
Actually there is a scene just after Super Trouper in the first movie that implies Donna's mother is, in fact, dead. Donna: *gesturing to the sky (heaven)* "Someone up there has got it in for me. I bet it's my mother." Tanya: "Oh, and wasn't she a ray of sunshine." Am I the only one that thinks that piece of dialogue suggests that Donna's mother is dead in the first movie.
@@fiorellaalberti4138 not necessarily, the “I bet” bit is about someone up there wanting Donna to suffer and she deduces it’s her mother, otherwise she would’ve said something like “I bet my mother’s dead”.
The thing I would have love to see is for young Donna to write in her journal since it is the item that’s started the first one. Without it Sophie wouldn’t have invited her fathers
I LOVED how Lily James represented Donna in “here we go again”. Even though it was a few glitches about looks and styling I loved how the movie ended up 😍. I wasn’t sure about the movie when I heard about a sequel of Mamma Mia but after seeing it I’m absolutely in love with it and I can’t stop singing “knowing me, knowing you” and “why did it have to be me” 💕😅
My husband surprised me with tickets to this movie for our anniversary! We both loved it! I think the changes they made were necessary for the amazing film it turned out to be! Great analysis!
I didn’t even notice these when I saw the second movie but I completely agree with you and the choices of the filmmakers: they didn’t PLAN to make a sequel, and being confined to the choices that they made over a decade ago would’ve cause Mama Mia 2 to be completely different. Love this video and can’t wait to show my mom!
Because it's Christine Baransky, a freaking Broadway actress. She should have been Donna from the start and all of our problems would have been solved! Sweet, sweet music rather than screechy tone-deaf shrieks.
In the second movie in the graduating scene the vice chancellor says, “On this August day” but if she met Sam in July... Also I think Dawna’s mother faked her death in #1 but came back in #2
Very late, but august is also an adjective that means dignified or majestic, kind of the vibe Oxford would want for its graduation ceremony. That makes it even more amusing when Donna and the Dynamos turn the ceremony into a music video
These movies are my all time favourite, the first one came out when I was 8 and now with this one arriving when I’m 18 about to enter the big bad world of adulthood it’s just what I need as they are so much fun and full of colour that you can’t help but smile as you sing and dance along
Also, what happened to Sophie's friends from the first movie? Why weren't they present or even mentioned in the second? Shouldn't they too have attended their friend's hotel opening?
Which reminds me that the timeline was wrong too. The christening scene was '9 months later' from the scene where she announces her pregnancy, however that's when she was going to be giving birth. Christenings only take place when the child is at least 7-8 months old if not later. I have never heard of a new-born being christened.
I actually noticed while watching that they boys looked NOTHING like they did in Mamma Mia 1 but I actually didn't mind that much because it seemed a lot more natural and realistic in the second one! Overall I thought the movie was brilliant and a perfect way to kick off the summer holidays!!
Yeah, I noticed it too, but even if it's an incoherence, I'm glad they changed the looks of the guys.... I don't think I would have survived a movie with Sam wearing that hair cut and beard for 1 hour..... XD
Mamma Mia 2 ignored the fact that in the 1st movie, it clearly says she never told Tanya and Rosie about Bill and Harry, only Sam. In the "Prequal", Tanya and Rosie hear about Sam, then sees Bill, but never showed Harry (or the other way around, I can only remember them knowing about 2 of them)
We certainly see the first four of those in the sequel, Roxanne, and Young Donna could well have reunited with Harry later, we just don't see it on screen. However, that's not what was in the diary in the first film. Still love the movie though! :-)
Yeah.. the inheritance part. Sophie was named after a woman Donna took care of & Donna also inherited money from this woman for her hotel. In the first movie Bill says, "My Aunt Sophie". So was the lady in the bar his Aunt Sophie?
Julie Macdonald I noticed that and liked this part in particular because she had the suspicions of her nephew and just accepted Donna as she was a kind spirited girl
omg, love both movies but think i prefer the new one..... the songs are EPIC, can’t stop listening to ‘why did it have to be me’ Young bill is deffo my favourite. i can’t believe i forgot about the difference in appearance from the young/old dads but i’m glad they went for something a little less over the top. Can’t wait to see the movie again on Wednesday, 3rd time..... i’m a little obsessed😂
Michael Patrick The story line is great, it allows you to understand how the characters are feeling and the music has stepped up a gear, EVERY song is amazing.... the actors did amazing with the abba classics.
malin johansson glad i’m not the only one spending loads of money on cinema.... when i get obsessed i just can’t help but rewatch it a million times. (was obsessed with the greatest showman and saw it 11 times in the cinema 😂)
I have the best idea for what it should have been. 5 years after the first one, Sophie and Sky return to the island for Thanksgiving at Donna’s... as do Rosie, Tanya, the dads, etc... the first time everyone’s been together since the wedding 5 years ago! The vibe would be less sunny and beachy and more Thanksgiving-y.... oh and Donna’s alive and welcomes everyone. So once the big gang is all together, they cozy up next to the fire and ask Donna to tell the story of how she met all three dads. Then we’d get the whole flashback story from the movie... basically it would be way less of the modern-day story and way more of the prequel story (and the prequel story would be where we get all the sunny beachy vibes). And then at the end of the night (once the prequel story is done being told by Donna), everyone wipes the tears from their eyes and Thanksgiving is over. That would be so easy and quick for Meryl to do because it would be mostly flashbacks. And she could still perform My Love My Life with Sophie at the end maybe when Sophie leaves the island with her family.... and Donna could hug her granddaughter during the song so we can all bawl 😃 I feel like that’s so good.... the Thanksgiving vibes would set it apart visually from the first movie... no one would have to die... we’d still get the amazing flashbacks of young Donna....
also in the first movie when donna tells her friends about sophie's dads, both tanya and rosie had already met bill but they acted as if they didn't know him, especially rosie who kinda had a crush on bill when she first saw him
The first film also sort of implies Donna's mother was religiously strict - "Don't you sound like your mother!" "It's Catholic guilt" - and that Donna and her mother never spoke again because Donna had sex and got pregnant outside of wedlock. 'Here We Go Again' plays Ruby as much more of a vain, selfish hedonist who just was not ready to become a grandmother.
I had such a blast watching this movie!! I saw it two days ago (in France): i spent 1h54 singing and dancing in the movie theater, being emotional sometimes ^^ Wonderful story, wonderful characters, I loved it!!!
Saarah Khan no unfortunately... actually she appears at the end of the movie for a very emotional scene with Sophie :) however the movie is still amazing!!! I wouldn’t have thought it could be so without Donna!
Who else cried at the end when watching Mamma Mia Here We Go Again? It reminded me of my grandmother and that she’s always watching over me and supporting my family, even though we can’t see her, she is still in our hearts. (I almost chocked on my chocolate when Sky said Donna had died).
I love the first movie so much probably have seen it over 20 times. The only changes I noticed while watching the movie was the guitar and also how they looked different in the look back in the first movie compared to the second.
Thank you!!! I thought I was going crazy. The changes don't bother me as much but it would've been nice to see how it would turn out if they kept it consistent
The second movie was so off from the first that I don't even relate it to the first. Which is why I wasn't so sad that Donna had died because I considered it to be a totally different movie. It was way too different than the first to be an extension. No wonder Meryl passed on this one
From what I heard (and I'm sorry I don't remember what video it was in) Donna's death was written in because Meryl Streep doesn't do sequals. It's just something she hasn't ever done and so she was only willing to do the movie if it was a very small roll. That is of course just what I heard on the topic from one video...wish I could remember. Worth looking into though. =)
I think you're talking about my video about Meryl Streep & MM2 where I explain the cast and filmmaker decisions behind why Donna died in the movie ► ua-cam.com/video/tI6rLqmQz-Y/v-deo.html :-)
exactly i didnt really feel so bad about donna dying because it just didnt seem real to me because the movies were so different. A little disappointed that it turned out that way
I wish they said how she died tho. If the timeline is correct, she had Sophie at 20 and so she would’ve been 45 , 44 when she died. Anyway not believing the age they’re trying to pass off for donna’s friends ? They’re suppose to be the same age as Donna which is 44 and they look like they’re in their 50s/60s. Same with sam
That was an off note for me even in the original film. "Our Last Summer" was originally released in 1980, 13 years after 1967's "Summer of Love", so it made perfect sense. When the "Mamma Mia" stage musical premiered in 1999, it was 32 years after so still plausible enough. (Strictly speaking, if Sophie was conceived in 1967, and she's 20 during the original story, Mamma Mia should have been set in 1988.) But the filmmakers set the original film in 2008 and the prequel scenes in 1979, long after the "time of the flower power". Unless we assume that it took hippies 12 years to discover Kalokairi...
Donna’s mother wasn’t “resurrected” Donna said in the first one “I *bet* it’s my mother, she *never* said it *definitely* was her which explains why her mother was in the second one. I used to think “oh, why is she suddenly alive in the second one?” Until I realised lol. This isn’t hate by the way I just thought I’d point it out bc everyone says that
I think it would have been more interesting if they showed Donna's relationship with her mom more in the flashbacks. The first movie was about her relationship with Sophie so it would have been cute to tie in another mother-daughter relationship plot and highlight the similarities between Donna and Sophie
Sofia is in the movie. Bill says when they get on his boat, "I actually have an elderly relative who helped me buy this boat." Also her son has the same blue eyes that Bill has. When Donna and Bill are sitting at the table in the bar Sofia comes up to them and kisses Bill on the forehead at which point Donna is introduced to Sofia by name. This is hard to catch because it happens while Tanya and Rosie are talking about Bill just outside. Sofia gives Donna permission to live in her farmhouse and obvious she leaves the property and some money to Donna when she passed away sometime after Sophie's birth.
So far I’ve seen it twice and I’m planning to go for a third. It’s my far movie of 2018 so far and while I noticed the plot holes right away they didn’t effect my opinion of the movie.
Anyone bothered that Rosie and Tanya have the same exact hair they have in the present? I get they want us to realize that they were Rosie and Tanya but I just felt like it was too silly and unrealistic
My hairstyle has always remained consistent and I'm in my twenties. I like my hair just at shoulders so once it gets past that I go get it cut so it's back at my shoulders. My mom has had the same hairstyle since her teens.
1. How Donna died 2. How Sky met Sophie and how long they've been in a relationship before they were "matried" in the first movie 3. Both the movies didn't mention Sky's sides of the stories! Like who are Sky's parents? 4. Sophie's best friends are not there. 5. How can Sophie be pregnant that fast while Sky literally just returned back? 6. How did Sky managed to return to Kalokairi? The movie did explained about Bill and Harry but not Sky 7. If Sophie told Sky to postpone their marriage, they should've been married already in the second movie did they? 8. The second movie didn't clear enough to explain how Tanya and Rosie's relationships ended These bugged me when I watched the second movie
Lily and Meryl just found out they are actually 9th cousins so I’m pretty sure you couldn’t have got any closer to a younger version of Meryl (unless you got Mamie). I think Lily captured exactly how young Donna would have been and her mannerisms as a character are very similar to that of Meryl’s. Such a coincidence that they are actually related tho isn’t it?!
kate Ik they aren’t closely related but they are 9th cousins which does count for something actually. If you search it up there is an article about it:
kate Ik they aren’t closely related but they are 9th cousins which does count for something actually. If you search it up there is an article about it.
kate yeah ik about the Meghan and Harry thing but the media haven’t actually made it up because Lily actually looked into her family tree and found it out. Meryl even commented saying “amazing to think that we share jeans and genes” so they are clearly both aware of it and know who their ancestors are. With the Meghan and Harry thing they didn’t know about what the media were saying and if they did then it wasn’t confirmed cos they didn’t comment. Meryl and Lily have both commented and said how excited they are to be related. They are a lot more closely related than I am to a celebrity like Beyoncé for example so they are actually family technically. I was just saying that it’s a weird coincidence that lily was playing the younger version of Meryl and they are actually related
The biggest one that I noticed was that the ages don't make sense. In the original movie Sophie was 20 years old, as quoted in the movie. So that means that twenty years ago is when Donna had graduated college and went to Greece (as seen in the second movie). So sometime in that range is when she got pregnant with Sophie. Let's assume she was somewhere around 22 after graduating college, so that means in the original Mamma Mia Meryl Streep (58 at the time) was playing a mother who was roughly 43 years old. Same goes for Pierce Brosnan (54 at the time) and Stellan Skarsgard (56 at the time). The ages just dont match up... not a big deal and something that doesn't make a difference on the enjoyment, but it was something I noticed.
What did my head in was the hotel looked completely different from the first movie, even before Sophie did renovations and when Donna was young it stayed the same throughout the second movie
Yes, the order in which Donna met the guys in the second movie really bothered me! I just kept thinking, "That's not right!" I mostly noted the eye color difference between younger Donna and older Donna. I still love both movies, though. Maybe a difference--did we have any indication in the first movie that Rosie knew Bill in the past? I don't remember it, if there was. But in the second movie, she met him and was crushing on him when they were younger.
I don't think it was mentioned in the original movie, but in the play, Rosie specifically remembers Bill, calling him the "awesome Aussie" (he was an Australian, Bill Austin, in the play, not a Swede). And both Rosie and Tanya remember Harry "Headbanger" in the play.
I noticed guitar thing and diary order and appearances but it didnt take anything away from film. Even thou lily had different eye colour she was still the perfect donna she was her down to a t
Sophie is meant to be 25 in the 2nd movie. Making it 2004 as Donna was pregnant in 1979. But what gets me is Sophie uses a modern smart phone which definitely weren't around in 2004.
i myself didn't pay any attention to the differences between the two movies. I really liked the first one when I saw it. I knew 90% of the songs because I grew up having parents who listen non stop to 70s and 80s music so I knew a lot more of the ABBA songs in the first one. I saw the second movie just yesterday and cannot stop listening to all the songs. I loved the songs in Mamma Mia Here We Go Again and absolutely loved Lilly James singing them. Before I saw Mamma Mia 2, I was told it wasnt as good as the first, but I have to say that I really enjoyed it and like those songs a little bit more than the first movie. It could be the fact that since Lily James is much younger than Meryl Streep that I like the secind movie better but other than that both are great movies!!
I loved it regardless. My crowd at the theater sang along and cheered. And I left the theater singing Fernando all the way to my ride. Thanks for the video :) Happy Viewing
My pleasure, XR! :-) And I'm absolutely with you about the movie - totally loved it! Awesome to hear that you and the rest of the audience had so much fun watching MM2 at the cinema - thanks for sharing that lovely story! :-)
I shush people when they start singing in movie theaters. This isn't a concert, it's a goddamn film and I don't need to hear you over the professionals.
The two movies are my all time favourite I watched the first one when it came out when I was 3 and me and my friends would always sing the songs together and then ten years later I’m nearly 13 and when I found out there was gonna be a second movie I was over the moon I was that excited and nearly everyday you would see me with my earphones listening to the soundtrack 😂😂 God I love mamma mia sooo much ❤️❤️
Donna was pregnant in 1979, Sophie was born in 1980, so the original Mamma Mia would’ve taken place in 2000. Sophie mentions that she’s only 25 in the sequel, so the second film should be set in 2005. When Sophie’s on the phone with Sky, it’s a new iPhone, with the newest ios. The first iPhone wasn’t released until 2007.
The biggest thing that destroy the Comeback form Mama Mia was the Island and the Hotel. Its a completly diffrent Island an also a verry diffrent Hotel than in the first part. Only die Colors have changed, in Part One the Hotel was White like typical Greekhoues but in part two the hotel was more italienstyle with the stonenes
I wish in the second one they spoke about Harry being gay and if he ever had a lover after the first one. They seemed to completely gloss over that. and I wasn’t buying how her and Harry had sex either because he seems such a gentleman and for him to just ask her to be his first without really knowing her seemed out of character. Something that maybe bill would’ve done. Last point, anyone else think that bill is Sophie’s dad??
Did any of these Mamma Mia changes or differences bother you in Mamma Mia 2?

I don't know. It kind of bothers me a little because some of these continuity errors could have been avoided like young Harry changing his T-shirt before he arrived on the island. But then if they wanted Cher in the movie, the mother role was probably the best way to fit her in.
Yes they did. So much.
Flicks And The City Yes, the diary part.
For me the differences does'nt matter... Compliments to Flicks And The City for this very interesting explanation, again ! :-)
My theory about the first one is:
Donna thinks her mother is dead because, when Donna told her she was pregnant, her mother told her to not dare to comeback. So she thinks she is dead, because she knows nothing since then
Okay, that really makes sense🤔
Spot on! Bcause of the way Ruby disowned her daughter, she is dead to Donna and now Sophie struggles to forgive Ruby for not keeping contact with Donna.
True and correct because Donna words were " My mother told me to not bother to come back" And she did think she was dead because she never saw her again but she wasn't there to see
That theory makes sense
@@emmacraw3269 It would ^^
Donna's mother returned from the dead just to cause drama. Iconic.
Amore Borman me in the future
That part might keep me from watching this. Not that big on Cher to begin with and then they bring Donna's mom back from the dead JUST so they can shove Cher into the sequel.
I would do that if given the chance 😂😂
classic cher
Emi Hasumi I was not bothered because it's shown that Donna hasn't known anything about her mother since college, so she can assume she was dead idk
I wasn’t bothered about all these details, I was just annoyed about the fact they didn’t make it clear how Donna died.

I like to think that the original young sam, bill, and harry were an exaggerated version of how donna remembered them, and the guys in mamma mia 2 were how they actually looked like.
hannah joelle That would've worked if not for Donna trying to match up a resemblance with pictures in MMI
that's a nice way to see it, i loved it!
hannah joelle haha NOO way itd be wayy more funny and awesome if it was donnas versions!
Kaila Deprey no way I’d want to see a bunch of 60 year old men play 20 somethings!! 😂🤣
hannah joelle this makes much sense
I just can't get over Donnas death..it's never even explained or anything they just kinda throw that into your face “yeah your favourite character is suddenly dead for no reason, deal with it.“
This is just so horribly sad that it overshadows the funny moments. I mean they didn't have to kill her off right? It would still be sad enough with all the flashbacks to young donna and the nostalgia.
Minna :3 Does it have to be explained? I want explained where Fernando came from? Just how did he happen to be the overseer of the remodeled hotel?
Minna :3 i feel like it was a disease idk why
Mer Maid lmao u gave me a new theory: he knew the entire time he was Sophies grandfather :O
Can we just appreciate how Colin Firth gets better with age 😊
"like wine" like how the Greek passport person said in the film 😂
Jade Shepherd haha he was right!

Make up
He’s the reason I watched the Mamma Mia 2
Most of these didn't bother me at all, I passed them off as Donna`s interpretation of her own memories. The only thing I did notice was that in the first film Sam says that he and Donna conceived the idea of the hotel and he drew up plans for it on a napkin. That could have been a really cute scene.
David King sddd
I was thinking the same thing
Also the guitar botherd me
Yesss exactly!!
I love cher
The resemblance of the younger and older Tanya is impeccable. 😱😱
*cough* she got plastic surgery
Who ?
Donnas friend, the one with the medium length hair.
*cough* no no I know who you're talking about and I totally agree !! I was asking who did surgery because none of them did 🤗
Pip's & Co Oh okay 😂😊
I loved the second one even with all the slight changes. I think Lily James killed her role as Donna. And it was just overall very enjoyable. And I love the 70’s style.
Lily James killed it :-D and all the others comedians who played young ones, they killed all. The actors are not to blame but the story first... even it at least, it was a litlle bit good to watch... the first I blame is .. om... cher...why?
I really didn't like the young Sam. But 100% agree with Lily James
Very much agreed
I think lily do not got her Job
None on these differences ended up bothering me because it was just so amazing seeing a great sequel being made to an iconic film!
Hannah Cull exactly. I loved the sequel as much as the first one
couldn't agree more.
I didn’t like Cher in it though
Where are Sofie's bffs?!?! This bothered me. Not even a brief mention to why they're not there.
OMG Yes, IDK why but that bothered me also.
Aelia's Manga and Book Reviews I thought about that. but I was on with it.
Right!
I think sofie's bffs are supposed to be there however in the film, the weather was so bad that no planes could fly to that island so :/
I guess sophie allie and Lisa weren't greatest bestest mates
I can't believe Sophie's two best friends weren't there!
Aparajita De sup
Sherrie Vitulli I noticed this too and when I mentioned it to my family, my mom said she though in the first movie they were there so it could be like Sophie and her friends and Donna and her friends but in the second one, Donna’s home so it’s like Sophie and her mom’s friends. It still bothers me but I can understand why they did that
Juliet P.G. Because one of the actors was pregnant so she couldn’t fly to Greece and the other one had a small child and stopped acting x
Ali and Lisa
Not Pepper eighter
There are a lot of plot holes that my friends and I noticed after watching the movie, but it’s such a feel good movie that we really don’t even care.
This is genuinely such a mood

How about the amazingly freakish way Jessica Keenan Wynn was a younger version of Christine Baranski? She WAS Christine Baranski!

Ikr! I couldn’t stop thinking about the way they looked IDENTICAL after I watched the movie! Thank goodness I’m not the only one!😂
IKR, Her performance was both vocally and ‘visually pleasing’ 😂
She had that distinctive drawl *nailed*.
Agreed. She nailed it.
The order she met them did bother me, but I’m not about to let it ruin my love of both of the films
The order on the island is correct.
victoria silveira it was implied they met not that they slept together.
Did the differences bother me? Not at all.. The Mamma Mia films are pure entertainment, fun and enjoyable to watch,
And enable people to escape world problems for a couple of hours. If these were serious films, then the differences
Might matter. But they are not.
Oliver Grumitt my mood
That’s a good point
Another difference is Donna never talked about the three men. In the first movie Tanya and Rosie didn’t know there was three men. Donna told them in a bathroom when the men arrived on the island leading to the lovely song Chiquita. In the second film she brings them to the island and tells them about the three
Actually they do kinda know as Donna says rember I told you Sophies dad was Sam and she say we'll I'm not sure as there was 2 other guys around the same time Sam bill and Harry and Rosie said not Harry headbanger
Maybe she didn't mention that she slept with all the three of them, but she said that she had a flirt
Donna didn’t but the diary says x
Something really small I wish they included... the eye tattoos on Bill’s knees! Just because that’s what Donna spots first when the men are in the goat house, that defining feature was so different that she knew it was Bill so I wish they added it into the 2nd film :)
I feel the same way! I missed it there
THIS! I really wished they had done the tatts! Or included a cheeky 🍑 shot like in the first movie.
They did include the tattoos! It was during the scuba diving scene, you can see the tattoos if you find the set photos of Lily and Josh on the boat!
Jesse OH.my.god.I really did find it. I wasnt waiting such a small detail. I have to look closer next time I watch the film!
Jesse I still miss there a cheeky 🍑 though 😁
I love how they just threw the likelihood and realism out of the window with this movies. Pure fantasy and escapism. No commitment with reality whatsoever, but in the most cheerful way. I love it.
André Camilo that’s a Musical for ya 🤪
Wait, are you saying people don't really break into song at Parisian restaurants, only to have the wait staff join in the number?
André Camilo who care it wasnt supposed to be realistic it was supposed to be fun
Sandra Baime ikr also who cares about the eye color
Happylyrics13 I noticed that aswell.
The first film is set in the 2000s, you can tell by the clothes of the characters and the low technology (no cell phones, computers), so if Sophie was born in 1980, she was 20 years old in 2000. If the second movie is set 10 years later, then it's the year 2010 and Sophie's 30 years old.
But in the movie Sophie tells her grandmother it's 25 years to late
We’re not sure of what year this movie is set in though, all we know is that it’s a year after Donna's death. It could be set any time from 2010 to 2018.
I read that only 5 years had gone by in the movies timeline so Sophie was only 25
The obvious plot hole I noticed was with the order of how Donna met Sam bill and Harry but I kind of like it better in the second movie more than the first because Donna was only ever truly in love with Sam and for Harry to have been her third “lover” would’ve felt kind of weird to me
BoneStudios15 Yh cuz I cant imagine her being with bill and Harry after falling in love with Sam, you’re completely right
I think she also really liked bill too
That's so true...I've never focused on that before. part 2 makes more sense
I’ve wondered how Donna passed away 🤔
Also, are we ever to know who the real baby daddy is? 😂
Bill is the father
since they did a pretty unclear job at making time known throughout the film its not incredibly clear but if the time was somewhat close between Sam and Bill I think it could be either of them cause when Donna started throwing up that could be because Sam got her pregnant a month or so ago and she is now expirencing things like sickness or if there was a sizable gap between the two like a few month between them then it was probably Bill. One things for sure, its probably not Harry @@emillycalmon3456
They said Donna died of Cancer but thats just what i heard
I always thought it was Sam!
I noticed almost all the differences, but the movie had me smiling the whole time
watching this movie was truly the happiest i’ve ever been (even though i was crying through more than half of it lol)! definitely not as good as the first but it’s still such a fun time!
angela senduk first one was such a party and this one has actual plot lmao
Did we watch the same movie? This movie was whack lol
angela senduk It's WAY better than the first movie. You should all watch.
Okay this movie had me in tears the whole freaking time
I cannot agree more about the "Greekness" lol
i 100% agree
In the first one they talk about how donnas mother disapproved of the baby because she as very catholic, in the second one it’s because she’s from Las Vegas
Donna also tells Sophie in the First Mamma Mia that her mother told her if she ever got pregnant not to come home. So that she didn’t have a choice but to raise her alone
Stephanie Holt I forgot that...wow
Gudrun Moreau IKRRRRRRR
I noticed most of the differences, but honestly that’s not what I watched the movie for. I wanted to have fun with ABBA tunes and have a great time with my family. Which I did.
So it’s a good movie for me, despite of its flaws. :)
StephieFaeVaughn I didn’t like the movie, it ruined it that Donna died and that it even didn’t make sense. It didn’t have a story.
StephieFaeVaughn exactly you’re right you should sit back enjoy the movie they’re only human you expect him to get everything right
I'm still curious about who's the father.
missylissy200 they all are😂...just kidding. Tbh, I don’t have a clue either.
Brown eye alleles and brown hair alleles are dominant so bill must be the father in order for Sophie to have blonde hair and blue eyes
Me too
mamma mia 2 felt like it was made from memory and that no one actually watched the first film for research
If you laughed, sang, cried or moved to the music, then it did what it was supposed to do. It’s pure entertainment and made you forget about everything else for a couple of hours.
Donna's mom is immortal. And that's the tea.
Lola-Lauren best. movie. ever. cher is fucking amazing
Kaila Deprey completely agree with you!!!
Cher & Meryl were in a movie together in 1983.
It was called "Silkwood" and it was unforgettably great.
They both received Oscar nominations for their work & Cher won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.
Cher as the grandma was So weird and unneccesary
yes, thank you!
Agreed!
I thought that the way she met Fernando was a great addition to the film's music.
not really, cher made it all better
I think if they make a third movie it’ll be about the grandmother
Did anyone else notice how in the first movie right after Donna saw bill Sam and Harry she tells Tanya and Rosie who had no idea that she had relationships with bill and Harry yet in the second movie they knew that Donna had three boyfriends
After 20 years (not sure the exact amount) maybe they just forgot
But the movie takes place 3 years after the first one, so.
It figures Donna would only tell them about Sam being the possible father.
the biggest thing i noticed is that in the original, sam draws up plans for the hotel on the back of a menu, meanwhile in the sequel the farm house already exists and is simply built up.
also im surprised they didn't hint more at bill's great aunt sofia in the sequel ( i think she is supposed to be the greek lady who owns the farm house?),
also also, i'm disappointed that they didn't draw more on the legend of aphrodites fountain in this one.
and finally, one inconsistency that bugged me in the sequel is that donna breaks the entire stiarcase trying to slide down the railing, but then it is magically restored?
Frankie Horvath I thought all of these same things!
Frankie Horvath a
Donna pointed to stars because her mother is Cher, the greatest Star ever! She never mentioned her mom was dead! hehehehehe
Actually there is a scene just after Super Trouper in the first movie that implies Donna's mother is, in fact, dead.
Donna: *gesturing to the sky (heaven)* "Someone up there has got it in for me. I bet it's my mother."
Tanya: "Oh, and wasn't she a ray of sunshine."
Am I the only one that thinks that piece of dialogue suggests that Donna's mother is dead in the first movie.
hahahaha... yeah... but I still suport my argument: Cher is a star! ;)
FrankieHughes96 “i bet” meaning she doesn’t know if she’s actually dead since she lost contact with her mum
Without it Sophie wouldn’t have invited her fathers
she is! we see the diary being packed when she leaves Oxford and we then see her writing in it at least twice later
what franziska said! she writes in it for instance when she's in bed with sam and he's asleep.
She, she did! It was great to see that!
i want to know how donna died
Fluffy Bunnys my moneys on Leukaemia, all the badass women in movies go out that way
Do you reckon she fell down all them stairs to get up to the hotel 😂
I want to know how she died before Sam and her mom
I think breast cancer :((
For some reason whenever I hear “The day before you came” I think of a stoke or something idk
FINALLY A VIDEO ABOUT THE INCONSISTENCIES AAAAHHHH IVE BEEN SO UNEASY ABOUT THIS FOR SO LONG
Tanya is so great in these movies. She really makes it great. And obviously Donna too but Tanya is great.
Especially Jessica's portrayal!!
Because it's Christine Baransky, a freaking Broadway actress. She should have been Donna from the start and all of our problems would have been solved! Sweet, sweet music rather than screechy tone-deaf shrieks.
As many differences as there was, it was still a phenomenal movie... right ???
Rana Çabuk It was bad and made me mad, the first was much much much better..
Yes, it was
Yup!
Rana Çabuk phenomenal???? Seriously
I liked the second one way better.
@@pohpourri2778 haha I totally forgot abt this comment but thanks for the explanation
These movies are my all time favourite, the first one came out when I was 8 and now with this one arriving when I’m 18 about to enter the big bad world of adulthood it’s just what I need as they are so much fun and full of colour that you can’t help but smile as you sing and dance along
Julie Kerr same as me!!!
I LOVE Mamma Mia 2. I laughed, I cried, I sang! It was a perfect end to my teacher summer! The small plot differences etc did not bother me.
Although the story plays a big part I just wanna grab the popcorn, have fun and resist the urge to sing along while secretly tapping my feet.
Also, what happened to Sophie's friends from the first movie? Why weren't they present or even mentioned in the second? Shouldn't they too have attended their friend's hotel opening?
21cgIN RIGHT!?
Yeah, or the baby's christening?
Which reminds me that the timeline was wrong too. The christening scene was '9 months later' from the scene where she announces her pregnancy, however that's when she was going to be giving birth. Christenings only take place when the child is at least 7-8 months old if not later. I have never heard of a new-born being christened.
21cgIN You can christen a baby whenever you like - the latest royal baby was christened at a few months old.
In the "Prequal", Tanya and Rosie hear about Sam, then sees Bill, but never showed Harry (or the other way around, I can only remember them knowing about 2 of them)
The part in the first movie when she starts talking about it is after Chiquitita
I think the dad timeline goes as followed:
1. Meet Harry
2. Meet bill
3. Meet Sam
4. Reunite bill
5. Reunite Harry
castiel howell first, I love your name, second, I think Harry came later on another boat
We certainly see the first four of those in the sequel, Roxanne, and Young Donna could well have reunited with Harry later, we just don't see it on screen. However, that's not what was in the diary in the first film. Still love the movie though! :-)
Flicks And The City oh me too! No matter what this movie was amazing 🙂
I like the part that shows they use the same diary. Great videos by the way 🙂
Yes, that was great! So glad to hear you're enjoying my MM2 videos - really enjoying making them too! :-)
castiel howell exactly! Great point. Only can make the movie so long so they wanted to show the past and present equally.
Yeah.. the inheritance part. Sophie was named after a woman Donna took care of & Donna also inherited money from this woman for her hotel. In the first movie Bill says, "My Aunt Sophie". So was the lady in the bar his Aunt Sophie?
I think so
Yes I’m boat he mentions his aunt and probably how the owner of the bar knew enough about him to taunt Sam with it. That’s how I took it
Julie Macdonald I noticed that and liked this part in particular because she had the suspicions of her nephew and just accepted Donna as she was a kind spirited girl
Would’ve enjoyed the film however I had so many questions about all these plot holes 🤦♀️
omg, love both movies but think i prefer the new one..... the songs are EPIC, can’t stop listening to ‘why did it have to be me’ Young bill is deffo my favourite. i can’t believe i forgot about the difference in appearance from the young/old dads but i’m glad they went for something a little less over the top. Can’t wait to see the movie again on Wednesday, 3rd time..... i’m a little obsessed😂
Wonderful to hear you're enjoying the movie so enthusiastically, Sophie! :-)
Sophie Forrester MM2. is terrible. ..very disappointed. ..wrong story line and failure at good content ....very boring movie
i'm going to see it for the fourth time next week, i'm also OBSESSED!! 😂
Qualimar this is exactly what I thought!
I loved the Waterloo and why did it have to be me, songs in the movie!
Favorite 3 numbers in the movie:
1. Super Trooper
2. Waterloo
3. Why Did it Have to be Me?
What’s yours?
Literally same
i also LOVEEEE fernando

2. mamma mia
3. my love my life
1. can’t remember which one but it was with young bill

@@zarakb2522 why did it have to be me. Mine:
1st Waterloo

3rd Andante, Andante and I wonder (it was deleted)
I had such a blast watching this movie!! I saw it two days ago (in France): i spent 1h54 singing and dancing in the movie theater, being emotional sometimes ^^ Wonderful story, wonderful characters, I loved it!!!
Lucie in the trailer I barely saw Donna, was she even there?
Saarah Khan no unfortunately... actually she appears at the end of the movie for a very emotional scene with Sophie :) however the movie is still amazing!!! I wouldn’t have thought it could be so without Donna!
I liked it a lot :) Lilly James was really amazing and totally believable as a young Donna. I almost had tears when she was giving birth at the end.
I noticed but doesn't matter. It was so funny and emotional. Also LILY and all the cast were magnifique!! xoxoxoxo PD the ABBA music!A++
Thank you!!!
Meryl didn’t pass on the movie. It wasn’t even her choice to kill of donna. The woman who created the play Judy Craymer came up with the entire story
I have one but it’s similar to yours, Bill said when they met it was the years of the flower power but in the sequel it wasn’t
Donna’s mother wasn’t “resurrected”
Donna said in the first one “I *bet* it’s my mother, she *never* said it *definitely* was her which explains why her mother was in the second one. I used to think “oh, why is she suddenly alive in the second one?” Until I realised lol. This isn’t hate by the way I just thought I’d point it out bc everyone says that
1) Didn't Bill have an aunt named Sophia who lived in the island?
2) Didn't Ruby tell to Donna not to come back home if she wanted to keep Sophie?
KalokerinesDiakopes1 well Sophie did act like she hated her grandma when Cher came on, there sorta was a look on her face and some tension
Well they pointed that out in the first movie and Donna never went home Ruby went to Sophie
I think it would have been more interesting if they showed Donna's relationship with her mom more in the flashbacks. The first movie was about her relationship with Sophie so it would have been cute to tie in another mother-daughter relationship plot and highlight the similarities between Donna and Sophie
lil puppy yea
My favourite film of all time is the first mama Mia. I did notice these changes but I still loved here we go again . 😊
I can overlook a lot. It was just such a fun movie!
Anyone bothered that Rosie and Tanya have the same exact hair they have in the present? I get they want us to realize that they were Rosie and Tanya but I just felt like it was too silly and unrealistic
yeah i mean who has the exact same hairstyle for 20+ years, especially when the originals were early 20s
@ Willow Boulter - Queen Elizabeth.
yeah uh, thats for slightly different reasons in a very different circumstance
My hairstyle has always remained consistent and I'm in my twenties. I like my hair just at shoulders so once it gets past that I go get it cut so it's back at my shoulders. My mom has had the same hairstyle since her teens.
1. How Donna died
2. How Sky met Sophie and how long they've been in a relationship before they were "matried" in the first movie
3. Both the movies didn't mention Sky's sides of the stories! Like who are Sky's parents?
4. Sophie's best friends are not there.
5. How can Sophie be pregnant that fast while Sky literally just returned back?
6. How did Sky managed to return to Kalokairi? The movie did explained about Bill and Harry but not Sky
7. If Sophie told Sky to postpone their marriage, they should've been married already in the second movie did they?
8. The second movie didn't clear enough to explain how Tanya and Rosie's relationships ended
These bugged me when I watched the second movie
Both movies were fun and enjoyable. Great music, Lily James was a perfect fit.
Ninth cousins, thrice removed
Lily and Meryl just found out they are actually 9th cousins so I’m pretty sure you couldn’t have got any closer to a younger version of Meryl (unless you got Mamie). I think Lily captured exactly how young Donna would have been and her mannerisms as a character are very similar to that of Meryl’s. Such a coincidence that they are actually related tho isn’t it?!
kate Ik they aren’t closely related but they are 9th cousins which does count for something actually. Read the article about it:

kate yeah ik about the Meghan and Harry thing but the media haven’t actually made it up because Lily actually looked into her family tree and found it out.
Absolutely right, she's perfect as Young Donna! :-)
I thought it ruined the film that Donna is dead...
I love the first film, but l’m really disappointed because the second part hasn’t bring anything new.
and
I DO MISS DONNA!
😥😥😥
Love love love the energy and fun of these movies
Your so right about this
Thanks! Hope you still enjoyed the movie though! :-)
*you’re
Ye, But does anyone know what happened Sophie’s 2 bestfriends ???....
You care......me ...as long both movie capture many hearts.....
I noticed the change in order of when Donna met each guy right away, but definitely agree that the order in MM2 made a much stronger narrative
The two movies are my all time favourite I watched the first one when it came out when I was 3 and me and my friends would always sing the songs together and then ten years later I’m nearly 13 and when I found out there was gonna be a second movie I was over the moon I was that excited and nearly everyday you would see me with my earphones listening to the soundtrack 😂😂 God I love mamma mia sooo much ❤️❤️
Literally the exact same as me 😂 this is my favourite movie of all time! I’m seeing here we go again tomorrow!!! ❤️😂
ESCIzzy Enjoy it, it's very fascinating seeing the First one before & after you've seen the Second!
Florentin thank you! I'm really excited!
_You mean more like Croatian, since the second movie was filmed on my father's country_
You're so Right ! That's was exactly bothered me all The Movie !!!
These have all been driving me nuts for a week!! Thank you!!!
I've been pointing out # 1 since the first trailer came out, but nobody would listen!! Thank You!!
Well spotted, Alicia! And you're welcome! :-)
I don't know, maybe she look at them that way because that's what she picture them in the future based on the style they had when she meet them
It just makes me upset they never told us how Donna died
I think its losely impiled that the Spanish man Sophie's grandmother ends up with as he reconises her when they meet near the end of the film
Rachel Isreal I’ve always had a feeling that Bill was the real baby daddy.
