This Office Desk is made from American White Oak finishing at 100mm thick. It incorporates a torsion box style design which allows the table to not only stay flat and remain light weight, but also allows for an internal push catch drawer box.
The drawer itself is made from Quilted Maple and is stained black. The beautiful ripple effect has been achieved by using a process called Popping The Grain.
One of my favourite features of this Desk is the waterfall ends where the grain carries from the left leg, across the top and back down the right leg.
It is important to keep in mind that wood is a natural resource that continues to expand and contract throughout the seasons. The two areas that are most prone to movement are the radial plane and the tangential plane. In the case of this desk, it is the tangential shrinkage that poses the biggest threat, which is why this desk has been designed in such a way to allow for the expected wood movement.
The 10mm oak panels are attached to the torsion box frame using a flexible adhesive allowing enough movement tangentially. Also, the torsion box frame itself is smaller than the overall width of the oak panels, allowing the oak to expand and contract without interruption.
This piece now sits in a controlled environment in an area where the average moisture content changes by roughly 2-3% throughout the year. But it must be said that this method of construction is not recommended for areas that have drastic changes in temperature.
The finish used is Osmo Polyx.

I respect him not only for the skills he’s cultivated. But the guy takes dust seriously.
Everyone else makes UA-cam videos and takes a year off their life because they want to go maskless. This guy has it figured out.
С такой шириной столешницы, её скорее всего разорвёт, потому что она жестко связана с рамой. Зезонные расширения древесины ни кто не отменял😀
Смотрится красиво. Очень класный дизайн и отличная работа.
I'm a woodworker myself but nowhere near your skill level . . . you are definitely a master at your craft - a true artist! Your work is inspiring and makes me want to be better at what I do. Please continue making these videos. Awesome
Winston : " ..what do you need..?"
Nick : " Clamps..lots of clamps."
Awesome build as always my friend
Как всегда-БРАВО МАСТЕРУ!!! БРАВО!!! РЕСПЕКТИЩЕ ОГРОМЕННЫЙ!!
I just discovered your videos last night, and I'm hooked! As an avocational furniture maker/woodworker, I could never approach the level of creativity, design and execution without rededicating my life to this type of work (at age 67, it's not possible). Your commitment to craft is absolutely apparent. Like a weekend golfer watching Tiger Woods who knows full well that I could not perform at this level, your channel still provides pieces of info that I could incorporate and improve what I do. I applaud you and your work!
Thanks so much. Thats very kind of you!
Loved the wide full views of your shop. For starters it is so clean! There is so much clear space around the machinery to be able to work efficiently. I'm jealous 😀👍👍👍
and i wonder why he is wearing the mask. thats the cleanest shop i ever saw. no mashine produces any hint of sawdust. or is it a fame protection thing?
That dye trick was amazing. Unbelievably cool looking
Beautiful 👌 and that drawer stained black was such an amazing touch.
Thank you!
4:54 "look at that subtle off-white colouring, the tasteful thickness of it...oh my god"
Love the drawer styling both in the front and the sides of the drawer! Very impressive attention to detail there... makes the whole piece pop.
Gorgeous work man! Your cinematography is top notch as well. Your shop is essentially my dream shop.
Thanks so much!
Ditto on Crafted Workshop comment. Beautiful work.
Crafted Workshop I was just thinking that about the shop 2 seconds before I saw this comment lol I was like well damnnn
@@pedullastudio can you please advise what kind of stain did you use on the beautiful work?
@crafted workshop I agree. However, i wish he would talk and teach!
Very nice! I like it when woodworking becomes more of a form of art than just mere function.
8:03 very nice effect by knocking down the stain. Glad you shared that with us.
What does knocking down the stain mean?
Its a common process in the wall finishing trades. Basically you’re flattening , or knocking down, whatever was applied to achieve a softer, smoother look to the finished product. Hope that helps.
Being a kind of zealot of your works, I look at your videos slowly in order not to have my brain exploding ; so I saw this one, and "hummmm, what is he doing? A more ordinary desk!!??"......later on "why this black stai........" and then, wham, I see all the details and the fit and the grain pattern and....... Oh yeah! it's the same guy who make art in a different level. Very beautiful desk sir.
I would drag my balls through a field of broken glass to have a workshop like this :(
Superb desk. One of the best on YT!
Would like to help drag your balls to get one of those workshops
The beauty of that drawer finish must be the owner's hidden secret and pleasure to see every time he/she reaches for a pen. Thanks for sharing.
It took my brain three rewinds to make sure there wasn't any greater purpose. "Wait he glued that down already...wait what? "
Very Nice! love the grain match.
Thanks so much Jon. Big Fan!
Превосходный результат. А мастерская заслуживает отдельного обзора.
I'm blown away 😮first time I've wished a video wouldn't end, big fan here in Ireland from today, read Your blog on how You started out, truely inspired by You. Glad You are sharing, thank You.
Очень красивая работа. Особенно понравилось, что рисунок дерева не прерывается, а как бы перетекает с ножки на столешницу и на вторую ножку.
You're intro shots are awesome as well as your point of view shots on the table saw. Thanks for raising the bar on content!
Thank you so much!
Excellent video, incredible finished product, and your shop is unreal! I can’t imagine being able to put musical equipment in my shop your dust collection must amazing. Thanks for sharing!!
I write this comment from Japan.
I was impressed with your clean work!
Awesome work as always. Love what you did with the inside of the drawer - such great attention to every detail.
More than your skilled craftsmanship is the creativity you possess and apply to your work. Very well done. And, I might add, unique.
Beautiful as always. You scared me when you covered the quilted maple with black stain. Then I saw you were using it to pop the grain. Awesome. Every time the owner opens it they will see quality and beauty.
Cinematography is on point! This reminds me of the tables they have at Apple stores.
Love the black and how you made it even pop more by sanding it then coating it one more time then topcoating it love this stuff.
Quality at its best !!! Thumps up .
Your skills are amazing. Your shop is world class. Your videos are so tastefully done… but, your soundtracks are fantastic!! I Shazam almost every track!! 😊
Keep up your remarkable journey, Nick!!
So simple, so minimalist, but holy heck is it beautiful! Love it.
Thanks so much!
WOW. What an awesome project. It looks great. I love it and thinking about to build a new table for my working room. Great.
Getting those miteres that precise IS impressive.
Your work is so clean!! Congratulations for your work.

The elegance in that draw system is stunning
Perfect play with wood texture! So natural and laconic!

One word for this build - STUNNING
Amazing craftsmanship! That table saw! 😲😍
Wow excellent job! too much to comment on here but using the silicone type product to glue on the large panels was genius.
First time i have seen some one build/work the way i would/do great ! subbed.
Thanks Joey. Love your work mate! And thanks for the mention on your Podcast.
Pedulla Studio all good man. Will have to catch up sometime.
For sure mate!
Quilted maple on the drawer box is something I never would have considered, but it is gorgeous.
Love watching a build video without “all the talking”, really enjoyed it!.. great work by the way 🙌
Love the way that you veneered it without using crappy 1mm thick veneer so it will be a serviceable piece for many years to come.
White is is in my top 2 favourite species but being in mid North Coast nsw it's hard to come across
Watching you work with the quilted maple was a rollercoaster of emotions, but the end result is absolutely incredible. I just discovered your channel and I'm not sure I've subscribed to another channel faster. Great editing, content is outstanding, and the end products speak for themselves. Cheers!
Incredible desk. Absolutely exceptional work.
Thank you
Very interesting build indeed. That drawer is GORGEOUS.
I am so impressed with your long miters and getting them lined up. Just found your channel and enjoy the content

Very beautiful!
I was thinking that the black stained quilted maple was going to be the drawer front.
I like the continuous grain thing but I think this would have made it even more stunning.
Amazing workshop, amazing video, and an exceptionally crafted masterpiece! WVD mate!
Absolutely fantastic - design, construction, your shop, cinematography - all just great.

Thanks Robin. Loving the podcast mate!
Thanks mate, appreciate it!
Absolutely stunning! Just breathtaking.
Thank you so much
Makes me wish I had 5% of these skills, it's a skill to make it look so easy. Simply awesome.
Having over 100k in machinery and the space to do it in, helps also I guess.
Great job man ,that look so cool and I wish i have wool shop like you 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Another wonderful piece of furniture. Great job!
cool affect with the black staining
i would make it on a different way, but i'm surprised how nice you made it!! cool work!
Beautiful and clean look, I just love that black stain on curly wood. Good luck and thank you for sharing.

absolutely stunning! Such a craftsman
Thank you!
Wesley Inglis, no craft involved. just maschinery. no joints. just some boards glued together. i don't consider that carpentry. but it looks nice.
Another beautiful piece of furniture. Very impressive
Simple but yet elegant and very nice
love the minimalist approach
He has more festools than my clamps.
but.. His miter saw is not kapex!
Amazing workshop. Beautiful desk. Thanks for the video.
That is a beautiful piece! I really like what you did with the quilted maple drawer.
Thank you
Awesome work man!
One exceptional piece of work you have there sir. I'd be proud to have that in my office space.
Thank you
Fantastic fantastic fantastic. Such great film working, craftsmanship, design and editing... masterpiece.
