I have a 156g Star Destroyer that I use for calm days, and a beat-in,165g Champion Daedalus that I use when there's a slight breeze. They're by far my favorite Innova drivers.
@JourneyDiscGolf I wasn't a fan of the Daedalus when it was new, so I took a wire wheel to edge of the disc and it's been so good to me since. It was flipping at 200ft but now stays straight until ~350ft. My lightweight Destroyer on the other hand is sometimes scary to throw because of how far it goes. First disc I got to 450ft with.
Destroyers sell so well for a reason. they are good at everything distance related you can get a undersable star one that goes farther then anything else or get a wind fighter with halo and z plastic they are just great 👍 also like you said fits well for smaller hands
You need to try a TeeBird and TeeBird3 they are amazing woods discs that go very straight. The TeeBird3 you can throw straight and it will have a consistent fade to it while the TeeBird just goes dead straight. They are absolutely necessary discs everyone should have
Have you aver tried an Axiom Crave? It is by far my favorite disc right now. My lightweight and beat in ones are pretty flippy. I've got two newer ones that are straight to overstable. I couldn't imagine having at least two in my bag.
Hole 3 straight up is the weirdest to me. The distance does not at all reflect how hard it actually is to get it to the basket. I always play that hole as if it is playing almost 350 and I manage to get it around those trees.
What percentage of disc golf players do you think throws 400'? The whole premise here is wrong. Pick a stable disc that can be thrown flat or slight hyzer..Sword or Bolt category. That is your everyman distance driver.
I guess I’m not totally understanding. What premise is wrong? I get that probably not a huge percent of players throw 400’. Are you saying the destroyer is too overstable for most people?
@@AndrewWoodDiscGolf I think what he's saying is that for folks throwing < 400', both of those discs are likely too slow speed overstable. Even if you can get them flat, they will dump hard to finish, and they'll do that earlier than a disc with a lower slow speed stability. So, for folks throwing < 400', something like a scorch, tern, escape, or grace might give them a bit more distance and less dumping to the ground as they slow down. I think once you're over 350', some of those faster discs will fly differently than if you are < 350'. :) I like the destroyer's early flight, but I can't throw them hard or fast enough to use them as hyzer flip discs. That's where you can really get some strong distance and then they have a predictable fade back at the end (vs staying turned over). I think the pros like that slow stability so they can count on it coming back.
Thanks for helping me out there, that makes a lot of sense and I totally agree. I bag two Graces and love them, theyre for sure my go to drivers if the wind is down. I will also say, that yellow destroyer being 168g flies way more flippy than the max weight destroyers i have. So trying out some light weight ones could be a great play for slower arms too!
@@AndrewWoodDiscGolf FWIW, even the 150g discs like wraith, destroyer, etc. are about as consistent as the higher weights (without wind). They still require getting up to speed, and they still retain that slow speed over-stability. I wouldn't be shocked if it was just the random destroyer mold hoo-ha making it flippy :P I've seen some folks do some videos on the difference weight makes, and I think that the verdict was that weight doesn't make much difference except in the wind. Lighter discs will get tossed around more.
Thats super interesting, and would definitely bust a preconception I've always had about disc weight. Something that would be worth exploring more. ill look up some of those videos
"better" is a strange word to use. They're just *different*. And no offense (I mean it) but if 420 feet is a "crush" then you (readers) should probably be throwing a 10 speed, not destroyers. Destroyers are made for 475-550-range arm-speed. Getting to 420' with a 7-speed is a crush. You should be reaching for a 12 or 13 speed when your arm speed is strong enough to make 10 and 11-speed drivers too flippy to control.
Man took you long enough 😮Should’ve, Could’ve but you never listened to @destroyerdhanda back in ‘21 Also peep that Turkey Shoot Out Stamp on that destroyer 🙃
😂 i finally came around bro! I know it feels good to have that one in the bag. I gave you a little shout out in there too bro! Miss playing with you bro stoked to get out there again soon
Welcome to the black hole with thousands of variations of destroyers 😂 Tip, if you find a run with the stability and top you like, buy backups asap 🤣
😅 yea I figured I was going down a deep deep hole on that one… but it also feels exciting to have so many unknown options to discover!

I bet that thing BOMBS! Those lighter weight destroyers are so dang fun. Never thrown a Deadalus though

I just started playing last summer and I already have four Destroyers lmao. Three are similar, but one of them I’m convinced it’s not a Destroyer 😂😂
Long tee on hole 3 is in the woods, just left of the tee box. Great vids, man. Keep it up!
Ahh good to know! Next time I’m out there I’ll scout it out. Thanks man!
Nice to see a course I play on here. If you're in middle Tennessee Crockett, Barfield and 7 Oaks offer some fun challenges.

Yea I bag a 175g dx destroyer for big flippy max distance drives. For me, that’s 400-425.
My go to for that slot is the DD Raider. Definitely not something you see a lot of people throwing. It’s a 13 but feels like a 12 IMO.

I haven’t! But I’ll add that to the list. Is the Crave more similar to the destroyer or to the Grace?
@@AndrewWoodDiscGolfIt's a 6.5 speed straight fairway driver. Amazing disc
Ahh I see, so it would be a great shoot out against my passion or undertaker then! Love that, thanks for the suggestion
@@AndrewWoodDiscGolf It's probably quite similar to a passion, I would say you might like the feel of the Crave more.
Definitely a slower speed fairway, but I feel like I get.more distance out of them than I do all my 9 speeds.
I just started buying Discraft discs... The only other disc I have is a Destroyer. It's a fantastic driver.
Grace definitely flys farther then Wraith but I still bag both because my wraith is a little bit more stable
I used to throw like you. So hard to be consistent with that reach out high spin style.
Yea I feel that struggle. How do you throw now?
reach back ⏪.. it’s like bow the further the reach back the more power . more controllable
I just rebagged my halo desroyer after about 6 months i got some more arm speed and im able to flip it up now this season is gonna be lit
Love that! It’s fun when you get faster and revisit old discs that now fly differently. Stoked for you!
Don't try the emperor. It will kick the destroyer out. It did in my bag.
I might just have 2 waiting in the wings for a shoot out 😅😅
