U.S. Sugar - The Santa Express

- Welcome back, for a trip into the center of the Sunshine State, to the U.S. Sugar railroad! Come the holiday season, the Sugar Express has quite a number of holiday themed excursions planned, one of those being The Santa Express. This video would lightly document my visit to the northern end of USSC's trackage, where we would follow a round trip of The Santa Express from the world's Caladium Capital, Lake Placid, south roughly 13 miles and back. The addition of some new passenger cars and the iconic U.S. Sugar #148 would make for a nice addition to the holiday rail movements I've sought out to see this month. That said, I hope y’all get something out of today's video, whether that be a laugh, some new information, or just some general enjoyment. Let’s face it, I’m no professional, but railroading is my lifelong hobby. To those who are still watching after all this time, I appreciate all of the support, since I’m simply doing what I love. I attempt to upload railroading videos as often as possible, being limited by basic lively boundaries, whether it be school, work, or simply a packed schedule regarding the family.

I hope that the content which I produce is somewhat enjoyable. My videos primarily show what railfanning is truly about. Whether that includes my friends, jokes from our boredom, or simply the trains themselves. I’m hoping that along this journey, new viewers will become regular fans of this channel, as I’m showing some things which others may neglect. Besides, I’m just doing what I love and it’s always nice to share that with people who share those interests. In the end, whatever I’m producing is meant for trainwatchers and railroad enthusiasts of all ages.

The Lake Okeechobee car looks like UP 5416 at the Florida Railroad Museum!
Nice one! Didn’t realize they have ambitions to have up to 10-12 cars. That’ll make 148 sound great over some of the hills on the northern end of the line

Fort Ogelthorpe, 664, is leased from Charlie Polings operation up Oak Ridge, TN way. 664 originally Budd built in '47 as one of 4 cars of the Central Of Georgia's (which later acquired by SOU Rwy) Man 'O War train which ran between Atlanta and Columbus, GA. Charlie has managed to acquire all 4 cars of the Man 'O War consist (which some how had all survived) and may one day have the full consist all in service together again!
