When she starts to sing this style of music, which you aptly describe as emphatically "her lane", she transports you to another time and place. Everything around you fuzzes out of focus as her smoky, velvet voice gently embraces you and carries you off for a brief time to the wonderful place that she seems always to have access to in her head...
Angelina is single handedly raising the jazz genre from the ashes and bringing it back to prominence where it belongs. She is also introducing jazz to the younger generations who most of them have never listened to jazz before in their lives.
Twelve years old and Angelina already has elite master class instincts and intuition.

I have nothing doesn't showcase the strengths of Angelina's voice like this song does.
Aside from her insane music interpretation talent, she has such pose and sophistication. In my 67 years I have never seen such in a child. She has been here before, many times. Perhaps the last time was in jazz clubs in the 30s and 40s.

I'll drink to that! Speak Softly Love is one of the most underplayed songs, and in my humble estimation it's one of Angelina's absolute best! I have never seen a concert performance of it but the album version is pure magic.
You are absolutely right. Jazz is her element, and now it's mine, too. There's nothing like that smokey smooth voice texture for all the belting and the high range of some modern songs. Did you catch the Bond vibes? Great reaction as always.
This is a really great performance but I like even more the rendition she performed live with a "normal" band a year earlier in 2017. It is a really, really soulful rendition. It is also in UA-cam. The audio quality is better in that version and that can affect my opinion a little bit also.
Julie London's rendition, back in 1955, is considered the 'Gold Standard'
for this song. Angelina pays respect to her by staying 'spot on' with much
of the song but does allow her natural jazz roots creep in at parts, and
because of how wonderful she does it, I consider this to be 'The Platinum
Standard' for this classic done by many, many A-List artists.
She really IS unique for this period in music. She’s going to be so amazing after a few more years of experience when she’s producing from original material.

If you had experienced all 150 videos on UA-cam you would be aware that there is nothing like Angelina Jordan, she was amazing at 7 years of age when she wone NGT. Angelina Jordan has been giving concerts around the world since she was 8 years old, and now as of Jan 10th, 2023, she is now 17. AJ is the youngest published author in Norway, she is songwriter, and she play keyboards, violin, guitar, and flute.
The Armed Forces Staff Music Corps (Forsvarets stabsmusikkorps) is Norway's largest professional brass band and celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2018.
To mark this anniversary the orchestra went into the studio to record an album in November 2017 and they asked 11yo Angelina Jordan to do the vocals on the album. As a special tribute to Angelina, the two originals Angelina had at the time and her signature song “Fly me to the Moon” were also released on the album - one of them (“Oslo”) couldn’t be more appropriate to the occasion.
There is some footage online on YT with rehearsal stuff and takes from recording sessions that are very interesting. The album was released in May 2018 on the Forsvarets Musikk record label, it is called “It’s Magic” and contains 16 Tracks - two of which are instrumental.
On June 16, 2018, for the official celebrations and tribute to the orchestra, there was the spectacular concert this video is taken from. It took place outdoors under a large pavilion in front of Akershus festning, the famous fortress that has guarded Oslo for hundreds of years, in the presence Prime Minister Erna Solberg and many other prominent guests.
Angelina performed all 14 vocal tracks from this CD during the concert - most famously “It’s a man’s world”, but “Cry me a river” and “Mr. Lonely” are outstanding also - as are “I’m a fool to want You” and “Crazy”. It's amazing how well Angelina's vocals and the orchestra's performance go together throughout the concert - a testament to 12-year-old Angelina's ability to work with such a large band (39 musicians).

I’m intrigued by the direction that AJ/RR are going to take with the album. You and many others are saying she must stay in this jazz ‘wheelhouse’ in which she excels. I’m rather nervous that they’re not going to allow her to do that.
Her saying the album will be 60ies vibe fills me with some hope. But of course we'll see.
Yeah, this is an interesting thing to consider. For many of AJs supporters-myself included, we have found with some bewilderment, that not everyone we introduce to her music is as gobsmacked by it as we are. I think Angelina and her team at RR are well aware that there is a relatively small wedge of the listening public that appreciates the sort of thing she does. If you have a few minutes, have a listen to Rick Beato ( a guitar guy) go through the current top 10 songs in the world (ua-cam.com/video/YD_DoKo5Dg8/v-deo.html). You'll see what she is up against in trying to kill two birds with one stone-- make very good music and reach the masses. I don't envy her this formidable task, but hope that if she finds that she must choose between the two, she stays with the former. To date, she has shown nothing short of extraordinarily good taste and musical instincts.

Also, please consider that the reason certain people resonate with Angelina's performance and certain people don't is because....if your vibration/ frequency is high, you resonate with Angelina's performance. If your vibration/ frequency is low, you don't resonate with Angelina's performance.

In my opinion this song suits her much better than I have Nothing.
Thats the band of the norwegian military. They invited her to record a CD for their 200 year (i think) jubilee. The album continues to pop up in the jazz charts periodically.

I’ve been a fan of Angelina’s for about 10 years now, and I can tell you I NEVER recommend her Whitney covers. They don’t do it for me because they dont showcase who she truly is.

I would say the logical next reaction would be her cover of Rihanna’s STAY, or if you are interested in hearing the song that would’ve blown her up at 10 years old but for many interesting theories surrounding the song, it was never released other than a LEAKED version here on UA-cam. It’s called “I’m still holding out for you” and it’s a black and white fan made video. This cover… no one is ever really ready for that one 😰. 🙏🏼

She was 12-1/2 here, if you can believe it! I think she did a studio version of this with that military band for their record, "It's Magic". It would have better audio. That said, Angie is at her best in live concert with an appreciative audience. I do not care for the song "I Have Nothing" and, as pointed out below, it is not really right for her.
And yes... THis concert at the age of 12 is as good as her concerts at the age of 11. lol *Covid really took some great concerts away from us.* (And I'm not a big fan of the Song I have nothing as well... Its just not a very interesting song in my mind)

Honestly, I'm not in raptures over Angelina like everyone else. I enjoy her cover of Summertime, California Dreamin, A Million Years Ago by Adele and most notably her latest, You're the Greatest with Red One at the Football or Soccer Awards show and I was proud of her then, but overall I'm just not enamored of her or with Diana of Russia. Just being my honest self. Don't know how else to be Luke. Stu
