So as others above are pointing out, the question for the next video is, having spent £70 on basic kit, do you now spend £15 on fabsil or a builder's tarp from Screwfix or what's the cheapest camping tarp on Amazon like?

Yes it will leak. You're giving great advice. It is best to camp in nice weather for you're first time. You want you're first first experience to be a good one.
My first tent I bought for 60 pound from Tesco's loved it for years with all the basic camping and equipment. Reighton sands was great for us.kids all grown up now..good times
good video, showing whats out there. for people that are first timers its not a total disaster if they do not like it, might have to get a new cutlery set now I have seen that to replace / accompany me 30 plus year old one. not going for leak but, might be up for floating though.
I don't know what's wrong with people,I can see what your trying to do, and it's a great idea, if they don't get it, then they aren't worth the subscription. Keep up the good work Dan 👍 I love your videos.
I would spend a little more on a double layer tent at least, I got one for £24 from Asda! You’ll have to use a watering can to test mate, peeps will moan about using a hosepipe. Interesting vid stay safe atb 👍🦊
I started camping with a cheap Argos tent, single ring cooker, then I got a double ring cooker for same price as single (not what you know 😉 😉) enamel plate, dish, mug, cutlery set eBay favourite mug was a cheap green plastic one. As time went on I bought better and replaced tent, sleeping bag, camping mat’s but my brother bought a six berth motorhome for us to get around Britain and fish but age and illness put an end to that but camping car ( Zafira) came to mind so more, smaller stuff followed but a drastic change in body meant not being able to get out of the bungalow but just wait until the power cuts and price increases I can live off the grid indoors! Over the weeks a bit extra on my home delivery and I have packet soups and tinned food and lanterns and a folding alcohol cooker and spreading it out over the weeks hasn’t meant a last minute rush to get stuff and if my son invites me camping he does the food I buy the takeaway and I can sleep in my car in comfort. Just praying for that miracle to get my body working just enough. Tent leaks by the way. Similar to my first one that I had and swapped for a two sided gazebo? Love the videos 👌👋🏴
Hi Daniel I just brought a 2 man tent from asda for my nephew for £20.00 brand new ..not sleeped in it yet put it up in the garden .very similar to the eurohike avon will be giving it a try in the next couple of days..keep up the great videos all the best mike
As a kid in the 70s I remember swimming and paddling at the beach wearing those inflatable red arm bands, remember them? Well that inflatable camp bed and pillow are the exact same material and have that strong vinyl smell. The smell is almost overpowering but in a good way. For some reason, in myself at least it generates an almost euphoric sense of nostalgia and childhood memories every time I smell it.
Interesting. Kind of what we did when we first started camping., Its possible to go lower by using a yoga mat for the bed. Nowhere near as cosy as the blow up but defo cheaper. Also a cheap bag can always have a blanket added that you just have at home already. We didnt bother with pillows and just used rolled up jumpers.
Hi EWM I watch all your vids soon as they come out but never comment. Do bits of camping myself with my dog it’s good fun, just abit of a nightmare at the moment as everywhere is mega busy. Anyways to the TENT ⛺️ yes that will defo leak, not a chance that would stand a rain shower up snowdonia 😂 the poles would probably break as well with the weight on the water. Defo get what you pay for. A** Started off hammock tarp style but think it’s defo tent all the way now.
You know everything there will do the job in the Summer. Not keen on this cheap tents and I reckon with a bit of patience a better tent would pop up either on flea Bay or end of season end of line sales. I've just come back from Glamping and there was a lot of these bright red eurohike tents around on the site. They don't look to bad, I think millets or blacks sell them? Either way for 60 to 100 quid you can see a lot of OEX, Vango, Mountain Warehouse and Naturehike tents on sale. Dan I am loving the videos especially this series, it really shows people you can get into camping for a budget. Also things like the cooking stuff and the light will get years of use if looked after, nice one mate and good to see you laughing at the Trolls.
To be totally honest, yep I think it'll probably leak, but......, but.... exactly as you quite clearly stated, it's a nice and cheap and easy introduction for an average person to "dip-their-toe" and see if they like camping in the first place, then yep if they like it, yeah invest in some better gear, but if their not keen then atleast they haven't spent a fortune (and at the end of the day such as the stove and lantern etc, would be handy to keep in a cupboard or something for incase of a power cut etc). Great honest content, keep up the good work mate.
I am really liking this set of vids , showing people that want to start but arent sure if they will like it that they can get set up for a reasonable price ....brilliant !!! My mate has a tent similar to what you have in this vid , we call it super tent ,it has with stood winds like you woudnt believe , havent had to worry about leaking dont get that much rain in my neck of the woods :)
This was great! I've just recently bought some of those items and I haven't used them yet so this was great! I would have loved to see you sleep in there using the lamp etc...
Pound Land also does camping gear :) although as with most stores its Mid August and stocks are running low. Tesco is also another store (at the time of writing they have a sale on to get rid of their gear). Have fun. My guess is it will leak, some seam sealant might make it a little more water tight but those zips :) Next week most of the UK has rain forecast so might be a good time to test.
Great Dan like to see you do the pricing from on line, great mate, things don't have to cost the world instead of the tent apart all different prices 😀 👍.
Hiya pal, it's a good bundle for the money you paid, but with you on the tent, I would only take that out in the summer if there was no possibility of there being a small shower, it's screaming leaky to me, but I have always had double skin tents. But, you can always find bargains if you know where to look, in my day, it was army surplus and Famous Army Stores, thanks for posting and all the best mate.
Yeeeeeaaaaàah you're gonna have to take that bag out later in the year and see what's what haha, I'd throw a tarp over the tent as backup. Nice haul for the outlay though, watching continues... Maybe an idea for the cheaper tents IS to include a tarp addition, but highlight its other uses, pavilion, windbreak, fire reflector, groundsheeting etc. Takes up very little room and is multi use, why NOT take one every trip :-D
I've not not even watched the video but this is great as anyone can summer camp on cheap gear there's a good stuff but most people are over gunned I had the same thing when I used to do carp fishing thousands of pounds of gear when I could catch on on a nice Shimano rod and reel for less than a hundred nicker
Well I've been watching a few of your videos, I tried to buy the camping gear in one place, but ended up buying in 3 places, halfords for the sleeping bag(only for summer) , aldi for tent, and home bargains for the gas cooker, gas, and metal tin. I've got the rest, ie fork knife, and plate and bowl and cup and some kind of light lol so I obviously save some pennies, came to £53. So not bad. Plus I can buy food once at the location. I enjoy walking and finding new places, so this will expand my area of exploring. Plus I've really enjoyed your videos. Keep up the awesome work
Part of the pleasure is surviving with cheaper kit, you can always put a cheap tarp over the tent creating a dry area at the front, and it's a windproof option. This autumn I'm going to buy one of those sheep skin coats for sitting around in and a trailer to pull it along in cos they're heavy✌
I have that model tent and my kids have camped in it a few times. It features on my Cheap Tent Test video and did alright until a big storm hit. I did wonder why you didn't buy two dixies (mess tins) instead of one plus the plate/bowl/cup etc. I guess having used dixies in the army for years makes me biased but you have a cooking and eating vessel. keep up the great work.
Hi mate just watch the end of the video when you said about that guy wants to money cast of the rain ruined all these equipment. what is wrong with these people. say this again I’ll say it before it takes a long time for you to prep film and edit these videos and it seems to me these people just want to destroy your channel. You’re not the only UA-camr was going through this I’m afraid this is becoming a bit of an epidemic we are people claiming the advice that youtubers are gave them is wrong and they want money from you and Other UA-camrs
Hi m8 My advice to you is To put a disclaimer that the start your video . I do believe this is the second time that somebody’s tried this on you as I say you’re not alone in this matter quite a few UA-camrs are red the same problem people. Keep on making great videos . you know the saying don’t let the b……. grind you down
Cheap at first is the way to go. Which just means keep an eye on the weather and don't camp in rainy and drizzly conditions. If you like the experience, then upgrade your equipment one piece at a time. Love your work Dan, cheers mate.
I've just spent a week down in Devon, didn't need a sleeping bag, keeping cool in the tent was the problem, took my huge family tent, which has lots of air going through it, would be terribly hot in one of those wee tents. Jungle blanket XL, better use of money, I bought a camping shower for 5 quid at Aldi which proved useful this trip.
If it is really sunny and you have something to tie it to, suspending a tarp over your tent in the hot part of the day keeps the tent cool, as the tarp rather than the tent gets hot. Walking poles at one end are a good shout usually, but needs some guy lines, cordage etc to keep it up. Tie the other end to picnic bench, tree, car door etc if available.
That tent would be great if you put it under a tarp lol yes it’s going to leak. You’re absolutely correct in saying to get some cheap/ inexpensive gear and camp in the yard to see if you like it before spending a lot of money
I have been using a cheap £40 tent for years now. It has held up well and not leaked yet but it is double skinned and a grade above what you bought. I still think this will be waterproof for one use if you’re fair with the hose.
Enjoyed the video and I know the theme is buying from the same shop. I suppose though that the best approach for new campers is to pick the best bits from each shop. The stove and airbed would be too bulky and heavy so only good if you are camping near a car. My advice to new campers would be to keep an eye out at go outdoors etc for a deal on a two man vango or OEX that will be dependable 3 season and last. Although that may blow the budget, cheap roll mats, something like a vango compact stove for about £15 and you can get great 3 season bags for about £25. I used to make do with plastic bowls and cups from the cupboard. You can probably shop around and get most of what you need for about £130 ish. More money i know but if you're hard up blowing money on things which are not fit for purpose is going to be a waste and lead to dissappointment. Not a dig at your vid by the way, i know you were trying to do something along a set theme. Good gear also has good resale value.
I think it won't initially but after a few uses it will. Just done a set up for my bro in law, £150 budget, got him a family tent with living area, £85 and other basics from range. I reckon £150 will get you a good set up for a summer wild camp, starting with Phoxx 1 as your starter. Love the Phoxx 1, was good in strong winds. Another good one Dan, good idea to see what you can get from the different shops, I have some stuff from Asda and Range to supplement my more expensive stuff. I also have a few smaller items from mountain warehouse, buy 2 get 1 free, water bottles, camping pillow and items like this. 👍

Is that the new OEX tent phartt one
Lol keep emm vids coming Dan though you might end up with same tent at go outdoors
Defo going to leak. Many years ago I had one similar it leaked like a sieve. The sewn in ground sheet was like a paddling pool lol 😆 😆
Would love an Amazon and Ali review!
nice one dan
Keep on making great videos . you know the saying don’t let the b……. grind you down
No leaks and you have to use it for all your camps. Cost of living crisis so let's see how long cheap lasts.
Cheap at first is the way to go. Which just means keep an eye on the weather and don't camp in rainy and drizzly conditions.
If you like the experience, then upgrade your equipment one piece at a time.
Love your work Dan, cheers mate.
I started out with the same sort of gear. Tent is dubious though. Had a similar knife, fork, spoon for years.
@@alanmurdoch70 I have a large tarp with a reflective side, makes a difference, but not too close or the heat hangs around.
defo guna leak lol, rest id probs use in summer, tent 🤷♂️only if i new would be dry, love yer vids love yer chanel 👍
OMG DAN not another onw. we get the jist, you dont have to spend a fortune!!!!
Me too and it is double skinned too. It was cheap but very good quality.
Used this tent at camp 3 on Everest in 200k winds. Let me know if you think that I survived. 😂
i don^t talk to zombies
Good job it's got a mesh door to let the water out lol
Indoubt of the tent take cheap trarp or black peice of plactic to help stay dry and for shade.
