Great to see you back again Sean. You never fail to capture all that is special about fly fishing through your awesome footage. As always, looking forward to your next adventure.
Cheers Jeremiah! I probably gave it a bit too much line, but it was fun getting it to eat twice. Now we've had a bit of rain I might pay it a visit and see if third time is indeed a charm 😂
Hi Sean Thank so much for all the content you’ve made! Seen most of your videos and they just get better, love the information I get out of them and even just the perfect footage you capture! Hope to see you on the riverside one day 👍. Love from Edinburgh
It's a 12ft leader to a tippet ring with an extra 5 or 6 feet of tippet added. It'd definitely be overkill in some situations (I'll shorten up to a rod length in some circumstances) but if you're fishing in super clear water and bright conditions, I've found it definitely pays to fish fine and far off 🤙🏼🐟
Cheers Chris! I didn't film any of the broken glass or the shopping trolley that's ended up in one of my favourite pools 😂🙈. But for all that, it's a cracking river and great to have on the doorstep. All the best for the new season 🙏🏼🐟
Good to see you back out again Sean, season kicked off over here on the 1st and managed one on the dry last weekend, great vid !! Thoroughly enjoyed it and makes me really look forward to my trip back over in the summer!. Cheers! Chris.

I’ll be back in Scotland in a few weeks after being away three years. I can hardly wait to try out some new flies my buddy tied this winter. I haven’t fished the Spey yet, might just be my first spot when I get there.

Really high quality video, super informative and I love the way you balance the fishing with the scenery. Feels like I’m there on the bank watching you!
What a lovely video: great camera work, suitably understated commentary and - thank heavens - well chosen music (makes such a nice change from some of the gruesome library music that accompanies fishing videos!) Thank you.

For the money, I think the streamflex is a really smashing rod. I’m genuinely impressed. Having said that it’s a totally different tool to a fibreglass rod. I’d definitely advise you to get your hands on a glass rod before buying one. But if you’re comparing to a Sage LL, you could get the streamflex and a glass rod and still have a few spare quid 😂
Class video Sean love when your videos get popped up on my feed always find myself packing for a trip up the river 👍 that snag up was hard to watch mate sore one but great stuff 👌

Hi mate thanks for your reply too, one quick question I know that you are busy. All my rods are 9,1/2 ft 5wts do you think it's a good idea to get a smaller length and wt rod for smaller streams and rivers? Once again thank you
@@jimpain7905 I'd say it depends if you feel you're finding yourself in situations where you can't do what you need to do with a 9.5ft 5wt or where it's ruining your enjoyment. I like a pokey wee rod for when you're fishing under a canopy and you might find smaller fish are more fun on a 3wt or 4wt. I have a 6'6 4wt on order from Greys and love glass rods in the 7'6/7'9 range. But there's no right or wrong when it comes to rod choice 👍🏼

Wow! What a fantastic, calming and enjoyable video. I mainly sea fish but really do fancy giving fly fishing on a gentle river a go this summer… anyone have a good suggestion on what rod and reel to go for, for a beginner?
Cheers Connor! If you're looking for a river rod, I'd say either a 4 or a 5wt in the 8-9ft range would be a good place to start. Greys make some excellent and super affordable fly rods so I'd definitely have a look at them. Other than that, all you need to get started is a cheap reel, a floating line, some leader material and some flies and you're away. Good luck! 🙏🏼🐟🎣

Greetings from Manitoba, Canada. Thanks for the great video - terrific camera work and editing. Early season fishing can be pretty challenging - hated to see you lose that fish! I certainly envy you having that fine trout stream in your backyard! How does stream access for brown trout work in Scotland? How much water is open to public fishing?
Great to hear from you Bruce and I'm so happy you enjoyed the video. I'm very lucky to have the White Cart so close to home! So, you can access 99% of the countryside due to an Act of Parliament that guarantees your 'right to roam'. The right to fish however belongs to the land owner and there is very little truly public water. However, you can get permission to fish most rivers either by joining an angling club or buying a day/week permit. Hope that helps 👍🏼🐟
Folks all over the world lapping up top quality fly fishing on our river. Fantastic stuff again.

Good luck! 🙏🏼🐟🎣
@@SouthsideFlyFishing ahh great thank you for that!
enjoy the videos with the gentle or no music. ty.
Great start to the season! You and a couple of other YTers have inspired me to cast a fly again, and took a ticket for the Annick, not far from you over in Stewarton, similar size of river too.
Keep up the great work fella, really classy production. 👏🏻
Cheers Greg! Delighted to hear you've been inspired to pick up the fly rod again. Tight lines for the new season mate 🙏🏼🐟
@@SouthsideFlyFishing Cheers Sean, hillwalking is my thing these days, so a wee 4 piece set up fits nicely in my bag, spend a lot of my time in the Galloways, so some good options for a few casts!
@@AyrshireFlyGuy I've had my eye on those lochs in the Galloway forest. Hopefully be able to get down one day this summer🤟🏼🐟
@@SouthsideFlyFishing Sean, I recall you showing where you buy your indicators from, but can't recall what video it was! any chance of a wee reminder? Never tried an indicator, keen to try it out. Much appreciated.
Hi mate it’s the New Zealand strike indicator kit from strikeindicator.com. I think I bought my last kit from Amazon but you might be able to find them in tackle shops 👍🏼
Thanks, What is the best weather, temperature and time to fly?, Best regards, TM, ;-)
Thanks Tomasz, you can fish any time. But generally warm and overcast is good weather for fly fishing in Scotland 👍🏼
No so much tight lines as hard lines ... next time Sean!
Haha cheers dad! I'll be paying it another visit soon 😉🙏🏼🐟
Yet another great video Sean, really looking forward to this season and more of your videos. Good to see such substantial fish in the White Cart. Could I ask, what was the music at the very start of your video ?
Cheers Tom! It's a river that always seems to surprise me! If you scroll down in the video description, I've put links to all of the music. All the best 🙏🏼🐟
Hello great job and beautiful fish.
what is the action of this rod, rather fast or moderate ?
Thanks.
Lionel (south of France).
