I'd add 6oz to 10oz torpedo sinkers for strong drift and windy days. Anything lighter and you'll never hit the depths needed or you'll be half spool or more once you do. Also some #1 and #2 sized circle hooks for the fish are shy. Also some larger 250 to 320gm knife and flatfalls rigged up with 200 to 300lb mobo leade crimped and barrel swiveled and change out any factory hooks for heavy hooks and assist hooks. Dont be cheap on the quality of materials. More it likely it will cost you the fish
can someone explain what he means when he says "500 to 600 size reel"? im pretty new to offshore fishing tackle, but havent seen any size/name uniformity across brands for reels.

they are also known as diagonal pliers
I am not sure what he was referring to as diagonal pliers but what I know as dykes are wire cutters.
