Another piece of high quality content, thanks Chris :)
here are my takes, helped me organize my thoughts on the video
1- : "If you can’t be happy with your coffee, you won’t be happy with a yacht."
    2- : Think for yourself.
3- : To be straightforward and honest… or to utilize social techniques to make them feel wanted?
4- : If you're going 15mph at 2nd gear, don't listen to the guy going 60mph telling you to shift into 4th.
5- : There is no destination, it's a journey. Ripen or rotten.
6- - Today, did you go after what you want the most or what you wanted at the moment?
7-- "You're so in your head you can't enjoy where you are"
    8- - social media
9- - Chris' dad send him articles about it. (for me, the abgs start posting it on their stories)
10- - To sabotage their competition.
11- - "I’ve come so far, but there is so much further to go."
12- - You're a monk. You meet interesting people during the process of becoming the best version of yourself.
13- - Mental diet. Theres no nutrition labels, just you're own assessment.
14- ?- If no one ever knew, would you still want it?
15- - Don’t people please, don’t desire universal adoption. You want to be loved like a person, not a dog.
16- - Never wish for what somebody else has got, unless you want to wish for what they did to get it and what they do to keep it.

Chris, I had never heard of the term "monk mode" before this episode. Although when I heard you speaking on the topic I immediately knew what is was. Some years ago I wrote this poem about reentering the world after "monk mode" and the associated difficulties. I hope you get to read this and I hope that you'll appreciate it.
    Safe in the Steep Cliffs
The wild man comes down from the steep cliffs
    Running across the plain
    No shoes
    No clothes
He has been hiding for a long time
    Holding all his energy within
Waiting for the moment to release it
Breathing in deeply, the cold air
Filling his lungs he strives to go faster
Stumbling across rocks and through rivers
    His soul has spoken
Stomach, heart, and mind, all in accordance
He listens to the wind as words of encouragement
    Leaving everything behind
The truth lay all around him
Smoldering from his nostrils as his heart is filled with excitement
    Where is he going
    Running so quickly
Galloping like a steed with eyes covered
He knows and he knows not
    And finally, the black lake
He approaches and allows his eyes to take their pleasure
The lake is deep and unmoving
    There are no trees around
Here the wild man falls to his knees
    Breathes deeply
    And folds his hands
Waiting for the moment for which he has come to bear witness
    A moment in time
He may choose to let it define him
To allow a story to be yet untold
    He closes his eyes
    Opening his senses back up
    He remembers the black lake
    The wilderness led him here
Within his gut he is sure
He stares into the darkness held within the lake
And yearns for the moment to come near
Still he must wait, all through the night
    Stars pass and fall
    The moon shines through
    Giving him life and illusions
    Sounds piercing his concentration
Bringing him back to the lake
    He will wait no longer
First out of the lake comes the old devil
Spilling bile with every step he takes
The wild man feels fear within his being
    Then out steps a goddess
    Beautiful and pure
    Full of passion
Yet, grounded to this sacred Earth
    Last, out steps a boy
    Whose words are spoken slowly
    Never daunting and always patient
His eyes shine bright as the morning sun gives the horizon a rest
Each one believes in the wild man
Each one has a burden to bear
All of them embrace the wild man
    And ask him to stay
    Enter the black lake
Give your life to us they say
    The wild man looks back
    At the safe steep cliffs
Remembering the moments his heart spoke to him
    How his soul yearned
    How his gut screamed
And when his mind attempted to do it all
He remembers how they were all laid to rest
Allowing balance fill the gap between them all
    Holding out both hands
    He accepts their invitation
And is helped to his feet
    Re-entering the world
A wild man from the steep cliffs
    -Zazzo

Yes, I can tell you that having a strong belief in predestination has helped me many times in my life.
Many times that someone else would worry, I simply don't.
"This is my fate, bite down on the bit. We made it before, we will make it again."
    And that works.
The only time I worry is when I get too scared to think. Then I forget that this was all figured out long before I existed. My ego returns.
"What if I fail? Am I going to die? How about the people I love? Are they okay?"
    Then I worry.
But it still doesn't change the outcome.
Worry never helps. I would love to dispense with it entirely. I am not that enlightened yet.
    But I digress...
You sir, know what I need.
    Thanks for all the advice.
You have previously and continue to make my life better. Thanks.

This gorgeous beast is back doing these episodes, which are some of my favorite. Chris, I do want to point out to you to take caution before believing almost completely what some experts say is the reason for something. For example, the body positivity that women show, being mostly about intra-sexual competition, is highly suspicious.
I grew around many women from a traditional culture. I've noticed in more traditional cultures, honesty is the greatest virtue and not politeness. Growing up, women were very honest about other women's sizes and shape. Women would tell other women you are putting on too much weight or you're too skinny. As a matter of fact, a complaint that many women from 3rd world countries say is that they get in trouble for being too honest to American women by telling them they are fat. Idk it just doesn't add up that the reason women are not" shaming" other women for being fat has more to do with many other variables and less to do with intrasexual competition. Many women who I noticed who are more defensive of fatter chick's are usually fat themselves. Women are also mich more likely to comply to social rules due to higher levels of agreeablness. I'm just saying there are more ways to explain why that phenomenon is going on and it also mostly occurs in first world cultures to me

Really appreciate the perspective on balancing happiness, excepting that UBI isn't about happiness, but about actually meeting basic needs. (It's what the B stands for). Yes, hierarchies will be instantiated, but it'd be great if those weren't around actually being able to just be alive. We could move up Mazlow's hierarchy as a species.
Those of us that lean right would do wisely to adhere to the very next point Chris points about: singerar [write-offs] to arbitrary phenomena is a show of ignorance. Not everything the left or Woke posit is about happiness. Sometimes it is as simple as basic utilities that still aren't met by current or candidate systems

regarding the critique of flat hierarchies at 5:20, that's a major point of UBI, that people would still work because they want to compete with their neighbors. UBI isn't about making a flat hierarchy, it's about putting a floor under the hierarchy that prevents some of the 'spiraling' behaviour that comes from being at the bottom.

The point on "body positivity" is so spot on now that I think about it. I recall listening to some people talk about their experiences from massive weight-loss and how their friend-groups resented them or even attempted to sabotage their progress. Whereas my experience going from 387-lbs to now floating in the 190s was met with nothing but support from people. I thought I was just insanely fortunate in that reguard, but maybe this explains a lot of it-that intrasexual competition.

I don’t think that sort of behaviour is unique to women though. I’ve been sober for three years, well almost, but no matter how many times I explain the negative effects that alcohol had on my life or how many positive effects sobriety has had on my personal relationships, I still have those friends that ask me when I’m going to start drinking again. I just think that misery loves company and some people just don’t want to do the work that’s required to make themselves happy, so they prefer to drag others down to their level to make themselves feel better about their shitty decisions.

This is literally the best problem that I have with modern wisdom episodes. The biggest. time I felt this was with his most recent conversation with Alex Hormozi - I sent it to my friends, and they were just literally overwhelmed. I described it as being. bathed in a tsunami of. wisdom and knowledge that you're trying to grasp but just get washed over by and so the way to digest the information is to just splash your face with the cool water of the quotes. that they share.

Hey Chris this is urgent. On your website, the 3 UGC videos that play are all the first video (same one every time) - I'm assuming you didn't intend for this and may be a desktop-specific thing but I figured I'd let you know regardless.
As always, banger episode. Got very excited when I saw that you dropped this, was almost too good to be true to think that you would distill all of this juicy knowledge into an hour long video.

This negative view towards masculinity has been going on at least for 30 years. In 1990 when I graduated from high school, I saw this with the PC movement in the colleges. Back then women were saying that men only want women to use as a "masturbatory tool." I had to leave the US to find a traditional woman that wanted to be a wife and mother. Feminism has been destroying relationships for a long time.

The body positivity theory reminds me of Will Storr's new book "The Status Game"... essentially, all we do has the goal to improve our status. And one way is to surround yourself with people of lower status, since it's all relative to the circumstances you're in. So when women tell other women to stay fat (which is the essence of body positivity) it's exactly that goal. So I do agree with the theory, Chris.

healthy masculinity needs to be re-found and empowering for men. not holding onto anger, resentment, etc. but dealing with it in a healthy way, with positive male role models and friends.

Between this and Huberman's podcasts, there is such a wealth of information to better my own life. There has never been a better time in history with so much attainable knowledge with such ease, such a luxury, and the unlimited potential. More than just knowledge, the underlying hope to it all, and you should know you have helped me and will continue to, and I will extend it to my own family and people I know. To think of how lucky I am to discover these things, and at such a young age. Thanks Chris

17:26 meditation is essential for things like giving up bad habits smoking drinking resentful thoughts etc by doing what you were saying here. You need to notice these urges and thoughts when they happen. Without that ability they are more likely to totally possess you and you never break the habit. It’s ability to make you feel bliss, focus or sleep better are insignificant in comparison.

Initially I thought, "Modern Wisdom" was a bit overambitious as a show title. But it really is not. This IS modern wisdom.

There is a massive difference between genuine free thinkers, and people who try to be “moderates”. The former seeks the truth, whatever the cost. The latter wants everyone to like them, and is dragged around by the opinions of others as much as adherents of either side. They just want everyone to get along. So they get dragged in the direction of whoever is most extreme. If the midpoint between two extremes is always thought to be right, then whichever side is most extreme wins, by shifting the Overton window. Others are trendy, and will go with whatever seems to be cool at the moment, and flip on a dime when that changes. Seeking the truth, even when it’s unpopular, is noble. Seeking moderation, in matters of truth, is cowardly.
