I saw him give an interview where he said that the boat is all he has. Social security cheque got denied since he’s supposedly ’not disabled anymore’ (he only has one leg, and I haven’t seen any clips of him with a prosthetic) and he’s terrified that if he leaves and survives he’ll return to nothing and be back on the streets. He has no income, and if I’m correct in thinking that he has no sort of medical aid for his amputated leg then I can presume that reliable work that he can realistically get will be hard to come by. Honestly I thought he was crazy when I first heard about him, and still sort of do, but more than anything I feel so terrified and heartbroken for this man who has so little that he’s desperate to hold onto what he’s got, and that he would rather risk surviving this hurricane rather than leaving his boat and all his earthly possessions behind and come ‘home’ to no home. I’m really not a religious person, but all my hope and thoughts are going to this man and anyone else in his position. Being stuck there is a literal death sentence. And if there is some greater being watching down over us all, then I can only hope from the bottom of my heart that they reach down to these people with few places to go and little to grasp onto.
@@phelippepx10 honestly, I wouldn’t ask. I don’t know him other than what I’ve seen, and I don’t know his struggles aside from the obvious that’s being reported at the moment. Hopefully with that money he’ll go somewhere safe, but in that same interview I saw he said how God told him something along the lines of ‘Florida and a boat’. He won’t go anywhere because he believes this is where God intends him to be, and like I said I’m not religious but ,if I was, this hurricane would definitely feel like a massive sign from God to me that it’s time to leave. At least temporarily. Idk if that’s drugs (I haven’t seen anything mentioned about them relating to him before) or poor cognitive skills making that decision, but either way this just seems like a very lonely, disadvantaged man who’s spent too long fearing the seemingly likely possibility of being left with nothing. He’s clearly paranoid, to the point that I’d guess he can’t be reasoned with, but all I was saying in my original comment was that when you hear the full story you’re not just faced with some crazy old man, but a terrified one who’s entire life exists purely within the walls of that tiny boat.
@@AWKN7777 I mean personally I’d take a giant hurricane like this one as a HUGE sign from God that it’s time to move on. When you're navigating through rough seas with a strong surge, it's important to use a 150-foot slack line to allow the boat to rise and fall with the waves. This reduces strain on your anchor system and prevents it from getting pulled out. To further stabilize the boat, deploy a sea parachute anchor, which will create drag and help keep your bow facing into the waves, minimizing rolling and pitching. Make sure to add redundant lines for extra security-if the primary line gives out, the backup will keep you from drifting. This setup will help your boat ride out the storm more safely. Someone get the message to him tell your anchors.
When you are in a hurricane zone, go to the shelter. When the chief of police of Tampa comes to your boat ,accept the ride to the hotel. Read a Tristan Jones book.

If there's a 15-foot storm surge as the hurricane comes in along with the tide coming in, he'll probably realize after it's too late to get out of the boat, that he should have not stayed in the boat.
Now if they get a reverse surge, he might end up pulled out with the tide. It sounds like they may be getting a reverse surge, (reported on Agenda Free TV) but not sure that's a credible report.
Well, he made it! It's interesting too because at one point it was reported a bit of reverse surge was happening during the height of the storm, but nothing like what happened in 2022. Yet, they are saying a reverse surge was triggered and kept the bay from flooding, so there must be some interesting dynamic at play. Ian in 2022 came in south of Tampa and so did Milton. I wonder if the topography of the continental shelf around the Tampa Bay area along with the rotation of the winds helped create a reverse dynamic in both of those storms.
