      Jarrod, A healthy amount of precaution, I would say..40 is MAX age to attend to obtain a masters or higher degree. Why? age discrimination "depending on what industry" Twice I have seen 50 year old students who were NEVER hired even after they obtained there degree. I sad story of a 50 year old woman who obtained her degree at 55 and NEVER given a job offer and she came a debt slave still paying her university student debt 15 years after graduating!

      Was just going to comment on that. A floor exit, and a kill switch to insure anyone entering the cab could not start the vehicle. I'd like to see more durable glass in the cab as well and perhaps a GPS locator.

      I agree. When a man can comfortably stand in his home build, that is already one step above what 90% of everybody else was able to do.
      But with all things, there are some negatives.
      1. When travelling, you got to plan out your routes. Some low bridges and underpasses could prove to be a height problem.
      2. You would have to go to a commercial grade service center for vehicle maintenance. The height and weight of this truck would rule out most traditional mechanic shops.
      But for a single guy, this would be a comfortable arrangement.

  • @JoeyIndolos
    @JoeyIndolos 3 роки тому +297

    Impressive. I’m not really particular with the length and width (most vans and trucks will do), but the height is critical for me. Being able to stand goes a long way to not feeling so cooped up. And if you’re going to have only one entrance/exit, that’s exactly where it should be, connecting to the cab. I’ve seen quite a few truck conversions, but my beef with most of them is that they use the existing door on the side or rear. Going via the cab is not only stealthier, but it allows you to easily get away in an emergency.

      @alainarchambault2331 3 роки тому +15

      I'm leaning that way for the shower build. Most trailers/etc. have really cramped setups for those and the only place you can really cheat on width is if you shut the back to a certain extent much like this guy did.

    Ryder or U-haul used to call those trucks with the over-cab space and the little door something like "mother-in-law" cab. They were great for cross country moves. They rented them as a fifteen foot truck, as the size of the back was fifteen. I moved 32 times in twenty years and always got this truck for cross country moves. Put the futon mattress above the cab, and slept at truck stops. Put pallets down for a barrier to keep boxes from sliding forward and then you always have room for suitcase, cat beds, litter boxes and climbing up to the bed. Such a fantastic build. They drive pretty well as long as you don't let a boy pack the truck wrong and it bounces like you're on a carnival ride and you think that you are going to puke until you pull over and repack the whole thing yourself from the floor to ceiling in the Red Robin parking lot in the middle of a hot 🔥 summer day. Not that I would know, though.

  • @thechumpsbeendumped.7797
    @thechumpsbeendumped.7797 3 роки тому +81

    That’s an ace truck the layout is just about perfect for me. The only things I’d do differently would be a fly screen on the side vent covering the window (if it doesn’t have one already) and have the side access door locked from the inside and remove the hasp on the outside, but leave the bar, latch and padlock so it looks locked from the outside but isn’t. That would give me an emergency exit should I need it. I’d also make the side vent lockable from the inside, but look like it’s still locked outside. Maybe the addition of an exterior camera to see who or what is outside without having to open a window or door.

    That thing is awesome!! There's lots of places he could park at for a week or more and no one would even look twice and wonder if there's anyone inside. I would find a way to ad at least 4 surveillance mini cameras with wide angle lenses and even night vision, one at the front, one at rear, and one on each side of the truck. All connected to a digital recording unit, AND to the flatscreen tv, so if there's any weirds noises outside and around the truck, there's no need to step outside, as everything can be seen on the tv screen, and should anything bad happen, there's footage to be used as evidence. Great mobile home, indeed!!

I can't believe none of the big RV companies have jumped into providing stealth rigs for full-timers yet. Given the recent economic tragedies ravaging the country and the number of people wanting to live frugally when inflation is going crazy, it seems like a huge market opportunity. really cool truck. I personally would have a door to access the "Gear-age" (LOL) from the inside. That way you could mess with your bike during a rainstorm....AND have "new couch access" if you ever needed to bring bigger things into the living area.
    Plus you could go from your kitchen to your deck easier.

      One of the things I learned really quick when fulltime RVing is that a lot of purpose built vehicles come with really small really shallow sinks and it makes washing dishes a total and complete PITA. A decent sized kitchen sink with plenty of clearance for the faucet head is absolutely essential if you cook and have to clean up on a regular basis.

    I love the way you set that up but I need to point out one thing. You need to build some type of emergency egress. Maybe a rooftop hatch to get out in an emergency. Just think what would happen if you had a fire in the cab, and no way out. Take care!

    Awesome!!! One of the best out there. The only downside to stealth vans/trucks is your living quarters is built into the vehicle so if the van/truck breaks down you are screwed. Plus you are adding weight to the suspension and might even wear down the engine with all the extras your building into the van/truck. At least with a trailer or camper you can switch to another tow vehicle or mount your camper onto another truck if it breaks down..of course the trade off is you'll lose the "stealth" ablity if you go that route....there's always tradeoffs right.

I think this is a brilliant solution for a new adult's 1st very own "home". As a parent, a 3 year build project w/ your kid. Starting when they turn 15 & start having dreams of their own car. Well, "serious" dreams. They'll learn every system inside-out. Introduce them to formal business contracts. Have 'em sign an agreement. Excellent teaching opportunity.

    I always thought that those stealth vehicles should mount small TV video cameras on the outside then mount big flat screen TV's to use as windows. Full privacy and the cameras are really small now. I have a 9" monitor in the bedroom of my Class A coach, I added last year, so I can see who is at my door or the back of my coach to check on my motorcycle without getting out of bed. Actually there are 10 cameras around my coach that I can use to see all around my coach. Even put one on my remote control spot light that's on the roof so I can check low clearances and see if my tv/ satellite dish is down and stowed before I drive off.
    I like this build! But crawling through the cab would get old quickly for me.

    I realize this is a few years old now... but still cool. I subscribed after this one. One HUGE ADVANTAGE I see is if you need to take the Van in for repairs you can completely lock your "House". You can not do that with a Van Build. The people working on your rig will have access to your entire "Home". The only thing I would find rough about this is I have rented uhaul 24' to move with the E350 Chassis and it is more powerful than one would think... but it's also not a comfortable ride. Just a bit sluggish climbing mountain passes out west.. like 45-50mph sluggish.On the uhaul I hated that I could not recline the seats . And the old vinyl seats and SMELL of all the plastics was rough. If only the driver seat could be replaced and recline some. I have had Ford Vans and I do not like the seats where the headrests do not adjust. Ask me how I really feel! This is a super livable space. Is the Grey tank on the passenger side? I think that is what I saw. Most RVs are on the Driver side so one might have to drive the "wrong way" into a dump station. I do not know why my mind works this way. I see 98% goodness, but my mind hyper focuses on the 2/100 things that might be problematic.
