Mover & Gonky: 40 years ago, Northop made the F-20 Tigershark, but none bought it. With updates in engine, radar & weapon systems, could that plane be a viable fighter in the present environment. It was one of the greatest lost opportunities of military aviation.
If I'm not mistaken the FA50 deploys the same weapons as the FA18 Hornet and the BAE Hawks(which the FA50 will replace). It's even got the same engine as the Hornet so I would say it's the best decision for the RMAF.
Hey gonky.. dont know if you allready comented in past videos on your videos while on the RMAF but did they ever gave you a ride in the back seat of the Flanker?
Some Navy guys flew DACT against them in the Philippines a few years back were very impressed with them. They made their combat debut in the fight against Terrorists in the Southern Philippines. Not sure why the T-7A was selected over something that works and was designed to be versatile and train people for the F-35.
Any thoughts on Poland purchasing these planes? Not gonna lie it's quite controversial here, the most common criticism concerns the lifting capacity of these planes combined with the fact that we already have F-16 Block 52 and ordered some F-35, we have M-346 as a training platform.
The reason Poland bought them was to temporarily bridge a gap between getting rid of Mig-29s and incoming F-35s. Also, it's a MUCH cheaper airplane and can be used in a support role once F-35s arrive. Poland's Mig-29s were so old they were dangerous to fly, so it was the best decision in a bad situation. The large number of these planes may compensate for small capacity.
@@bessarion1771 That and you don't need (unless you are U.S.A.) to supply entire fleet with expensive-to-operate F-35s. These are cheaper to purchase, cheaper to operate and can fill needs. I.E., yes you need tanks but you also need small arms kind of roles.

today we might not need FA50 if F20 was available

If you like the trainer/light attack, you should try the C-101 in DCS. It sounds like a hair dryer, but its actually a lot of fun.
Plus, there are also the MB-339 and L-39 for other jet trainer/light attack options.
A bit of a correction: the FA50 has been sold for sometime as both a combat-capble trainer before the T-7 was being designed.
a lot of interesting options for trainers now.. supersonic T-7s and TA-50s, and the subsonic M-346. I guess the latter would be cheaper to operate

Poland already signed a contract to buy 48 of FA-50. I believe 10 have been delivered already.

@@croixla88 Sure, and what they lack in quality, you fix with the numbers. let's hope the new liberal government will keep these deals alive...
FA-50 uses same engine as Saab Gripen. Performance should be similar. Good buy.
I wanna see collaboration with Alex from sandboxx
Malaysian and Poland FA50 will have AESA radar.
Singapore's F-35 also uses aesa. anyway, there's nothing fancy about the radar on a trainer jet that's being converted to a newbie fighter jet.
@@djaluwindhu77 so?

I would like to see Gripen vs FA-50 vs F16 DCS.
Gripen is a beast, especially E series. Only C in DCS though 😢
Meanwhile, Singapore gets the F-35 and Indonesia gets Rafales, Mirages & F-15s…
Why do you think Poland bought more JASSM missiles? They will have more launchers in the air than the entire Belarusian army.
RMAF's MIGS doesn't fly anymore 🥲
