C200 is awesome, love mine.
Dude! I'm a huge fan of yours. You definitely had some influence on the purchase. Thanks so much for checking out my video!
Danny Gevirtz dude love your work, just so you knew I've been a subscriber for a while, keep up the good work! We should definitely collaborate some time 👊🏼
@@mondobytes I had no idea! You just made my day. What's your email? Would love to collab on anything. Mine is dangevirtz@gmail.com
Danny Gevirtz just sent you an email dude.
C200 bring peeps together haha love it
Great enthusiastic review, can really feel how much you love this camera.
Thanks so much Peter! Happy you enjoyed this!
an absolute beast of a camera, lack of 10 bit isn't a big deal over all.
I agree!
It's a beastly camera, expose to the right +2EV without clipping for the very best image and always ABB before ya shoot.
Thanks Patrick. Not even sure what ABB means to be honest!
Danny Gevirtz ABB is automatic black balance. It helps keep your shot nice and clean in low light.

Now that the price has dropped, I am excited about the possibility of getting this camera
Such an awesome camera, I got mine last year for the exact same reasons. Not perfect, but pretty close :).
Absolutely! Finding more and more things wrong with it but i def love it
Great video! I’m seriously considering this camera at the moment and your perspective on it has really helped me. 🙏🏼 thank you!
It's definitely just such a great camera man. Im super happy with it.
This is how you decide on what camera you should get! Great video and welcome to the C200 club. 😁.
James Jackson Films thanks so much James!!! Feels great to be apart of the gang!
lovely points, it is my favorite too and soo going to buy 2 of them
Haha I wish I could buy two. Thanks for watching Jaan!
Point 11: you can seamlessly upgrade to C300, C500FF (full frame), or even C700FF if need be. Canon has a huge cinema camera family. And second hand EF glass is everywhere to be found. (That's point 12, but... whatever). ;-)
I noticed our 'reel' number in our latest dump...271 shoots with our c200...I continue to love it - I dont think 3 years later Canon has made a better one.
I personally have the c100 Mark II. I like it so far
C200 is amazing, I’m loving mine.
Its such an amazing camera for what you pay!
lighting is great on this video
had some sunlight coming through the windows for the first time in 4 months lol
@@DannyGevirtz Is that why you lit it on the left side of your face? Thought everyone was saying to light from the opposite side of the camera? I was wonder when would one light the near side...
dope, I had no idea they had a c200B.... this camera is goals I love the c100 so I could only imagine
Dude its a great camera man. So happy I got it!
Great review Danny, thanks for the help!
How does this guy only have 1500 subs?!
Haha thank you man! Happy to have quality followers like you!
Amazing content I’ve subbed !
Thank you again! Can't wait to share more with you!
I agree 100% about renting first. Some cameras you should probably only rent. The Canon is not one of those. The price is certainly affordable. Thanks for sharing your decision making points.
Absolutely! Thanks for your post!
Great video once again, love my C200!! I still got a bunch of stuff to learn to use it at its full capacity, invest in EF lenses is one of the first for sure.
I was wondering also, what would you recommend in term of stabiliser? I'm looking at something not too big so I can travel more easily with it. I'm shooting more music videos, live events, concerts so sometimes handheld is great but i'm missing some stability.
The question goes to anyone in the community who have been in the same situation, I would love to hear your thoughts :D
Thanks again for the great content you make mate, it's really useful in my journey to being a better filmmaker!
The only stabilzer I have that currently works is the ronin S. Although its not perfect for the C200 it still works! Thanks so much for watching man!
Great vid Danny!
Thanks so much for watchin brotha!
Have you done a negative review on it yet? Is it still your go to camera? Or have you upgraded since this review or had your eyes on something else? I'm asking because I'm considering buying the C200 or looking at other name brand competitors.
Great video, very informative. btw I swear I heard that background song a million times from every camera youtuber. Otherwise good video!
haha probably but oh well. Thanks man!
Great camera
man i wish i could get this camera, love your stuff man.
Is the best camera I’ve ever owned!!!
hey dude! New subscriber here. Great video, looking into getting this camera for my projects as well. Are you able to edit in Adobe Premiere now instead of editing in DaVinchi? Ive read thats a thing??
Hey man! Thanks for watching! Yeah totally. I never used Resolve. I do everything in Premiere.
Been shooting two documentaries with the C200 since it was introduced, we got one of the first ten units sold in the U.S., thank you B&H Photo early order. It's an excellent camera and 8-bit XF-AVC is fine for social media. For pro use, people keep trying to force it to be a C300 MKII and it's not. It's an internally recorded RAW camera, period. CFast 2.0 cards have now came down enough in price where any pro should be able to buy a TB or two worth and shoot most projects, other than events and long documentary shoot days, will fit on a few 512GB cards or less. Audio is good, ergonomics are decent and it makes good looking images.
It's not perfect, there are still some issues in the firmware that are maddening that Canon should fix, but they haven't. Just annoying operational mode things. It's a PITA to only shoot RAW in DCI, give us RAW UHD please, as a choice, who needs DCI as the default? It's super annoying that anytime you switch to or from shooting RAW to XF-AVC/MP4, the camera defaults back to 50p/60p if you were shooting 23.98, 24.0, 25 or 30 fps once you switch media. It's really bad that the default HDMI output setting from the factory sends the magnify function out the HDMI to your recorder, if you are using one. All of these can be worked around, they're just annoying.
Good video. It's been a good camera for us. We rent C300 MKIIs all of the time and the FS7 MKII on occasion, REDs, once in a while an Arri so we get to compare a lot of other cams to the C200. When you look at what the C200 can do for $7,500.00, kind of amazing.
Well put! Thanks for dropping this here! C200 is great for 1 man crews, but the C300 is probably gonna be the go to for bigger productions for sure.
@@DannyGevirtz Good article today over on No Film School, I think it was. All five Oscar nominated docs were shot on Canon cameras, mostly the C300 MKII
just found you and loving your content bud keep it up
thanks so much Jake!
The Canon C200 is a terrific camera for 99.9% of all digital delivery projects.
Couldn't agree more Carlos!
Hi Danny - love all your work and tutorials. Question: do you have a good RAW Proxy workflow for the C200?
Hey dude!!! Thanks! i never use proxies. I just edit at lower playback quality. I also have a top of the line mac though
Got to use my school’s C200 and I want it so bad.. it’s my dream cam.
haha pretty sweet your school has a c200
Thanks, man!

Really considering this camera. What is the best SD card option for recording 4K on it? UHS I or II?
Hey man love the vid! So I guess you bought the C200B and then added/bought the extra accessories ? (LCD screen, handle & hand grip)? & if so what was price difference compared to C200 normal! Thanks 🙏
Thanks so much brotha!! It actually comes out to be the exact same price as the A model
@@DannyGevirtz amazing! This is what I will do then! Do you ever wish you had the EVF at all, or no going back haha, just on the fence right now on which model! thanks man
dope video bro,keep working!
BMB FILMS thanks my guy!! Appreciate it a ton.
Hi Danny thx for the great vídeo.
Currently I'm filming with the 1DX M2 and the EOS R. Soon I Will buy a C200 as well but I'm not sure which other camera should stay as my Second? The eos R has clog as well making It easier to match also it has this ND Adapter which feels Like having internal ND as well. Resolution wise the 1DX would be better.
What would be your recommendation? Is the c200 really easy to match to the c200?
Greetings from Germany ;)
Is the AF on the C200 good enough for Sports Cinematography? Or should I consider a Sony ?
Awesome video. Your the reason I bought my c200. Love your music video in the school. I am curious what settings you shoot with on your c200? I shoot commercials with 8th graders for a non-profit and love the look you got out of your video. Any advice would be much appreciated :)
Dude that's amazing! Canon Should have given me a discount haha. What do you mean by settings? Like what codec? I shoot bigger stuff 4k RAW.
Danny Gevirtz I mean clog 2 or 3. Also I don’t know if you notice this but when I shoot raw my clog 3 looks a lot different than clog 3 on 8bit. Also there is a couple settings like neutral, production camera and so on wasn’t sure what you use. Thanks for the inspiration. Really amazing stuff.
@@louiel6219 I usually edit in clog 2 because it gives me the most wiggle room. If you're not super into grading clog is good enough. clog 3 falls in the middle. clog 3 on raw vs 8bit is different because its 12 vs 8 bit and then raw vs a compression image.
Danny Gevirtz thanks for the tips!
What’s the curved widescreen monitor you have on your desk here?
Nice video. I recent bought a C200 and also have a 1DX MkII. What profiles do you recommend on each that match the best out of camera? Thanks.
C200 sits on two chairs: overkill codec and low end codec. The FS7 is better because it sits in the middle and has a high end 10 bit codec without the heavy workflow of RAW or the inferior 8 bit.
Theses canon c series cameras will spoil you with their ergonomics and color science.
Totally! So intuitive to use
Hey Danny. Love your work. I’m planning to buy a C200 within the next few weeks and watching your stuff has been helpful to come to the decision on this camera, so thank you!! Only thing I’m still undecided on is whether to go with the C200 or C200b. I wanted to ask if you have any regrets about the b, and if you ever find you wish you had the EVF? Or do you love having the simpler setup without it? Seems like both have positives and negatives. I’ve rented a couple times and feel a little awkward using the EVF but feel like it could become a feature I grow to love... but also could see myself never using it. I won’t be doing a ton of ronin or gimbal work, maybe a little but won’t be my main thing. I’ll be shooting handheld or on a tripod/monopod most of the time. What do you think? Thanks man. Appreciate your time to offer any thoughts.
$7,500 brah, those are crack prices. Canon for life though :D
haha its a killer deal
Hi! Sorry out of topic, but can someone tell what’s the song in the intro?
Amazing!!
Thanks so much!
I like your stuff Danny, will you still be shooting some projects on red now that you own this camera? Do you see yourself using your 1dxii for more than just UA-cam videos?
Thanks so much!! Pretty much any large scale project where there's a significant amount of budget for production, I'll be using a RED or Alexa. Just because why not. But on the day to day projects and client work, the C200 will be the workhorse. I use my 1DX for all photo gigs I get and for all travel videos!
Hey dude, love it man! I got the C200 as well and am loving it
Quick question: I’ve been struggling to nail a beautiful exposure, which didn’t seem to be a big issue for me on the C100 mkii. The screen seems washed out to me. Is there anything you’re using/doing to get a killer exposure more easily (rocking a 3rd party monitor, exposing for certain ire in the waveform, not using our overlay, etc)?
Lut overlay^
Glad to hear we're C200 Bros! The screen does suck haha I will say. I just rely heavily on the wafeform built in and basically just use the screen for framing. Not sure if that's helpful.
Great video as always Danny, thanks a lot! I am in the process of buying a C200 myself and have a really stupid and noob question but.. i will ask anyway simply because I dont know about it or how this camera works. When shooting RAW, are any video profiles or LOG modes selectable or can/need to be applied (like when shooting MP4), or because its RAW, basically is just RAW straight out of the sensor with no procession and end of story? Thanks again :)
Do you recommend any aftermarket cages or grips???
TreyVisuals hey man I don’t own any myself but wooden camera always makes great stuff
Does this camera still have autofocus in 60p?
I noticed that you shot the 1dx in standard profile. Is there a reason why you choose to shoot in standard as opposed to cinestyle or other flat profiles available?
Hi Danny, Great videos:) quick question, I own a 1dx mark ii, even I put on a shotgun mic, I can still hear the autofocus noise. I did some research and no one has given me an right answer on how to solve this problem. Do you have any comments on that? Thanks.
Thinking of getting this camera body only, do you have product recommendations for the items the monitor?
Can You use the autofocus without its own display, if You use Atomos Ninja etc.? Obviously not tap-autofocus, but any?
You can't shoot 4k 24 in 8bit?
Can canon 5d mark iii be a good b cam with c200?
Totally! It won't have as much dynamic range but the colors will match pretty great!
@@DannyGevirtz Thank you!
Hello Danny, how does that Sigma 24-70 performs on the C200 Dual Pixel Autofocus? I'm planning on getting one!
I want to buy this camera in the next 3 months.
Casey Schoen Do it 🎥🤙🏼
Its a great camera!
You where very helpful to me
So happy to hear that! Thanks so much!
Not any gimbal, but some.
Good stuff! Subscribed:) Are you still shooting with the C200 now?
Thanks man! Yep i still use it as my everyday cam!
@@DannyGevirtz Are you looking to keep it as your everyday cam for awhile? I'm interested in this cam myself, but also kind of waiting to see what else might be around the corner.
Had the C300 once, sold it just before the C300II was announced.
Thinking of getting another C## camera, but not sure. 8bit on the c200 is a bit disappointing. and how often do you use raw??
I think the C200 is the best for what it's got in the line of C's. I think the 8bit has been great for what I've needed it for. Everything looks terrible once you upload it to the internet anyway. I use RAW on every planned project i do. So pretty much every project that I make money for that's not like event coverage.
As someone who is also a C200 owner, don't short change the 8-bit, it's much better than what people think of it. I don't know what canon is doing with the codec, H.264 or XMF-AVC, but it holds quite well in post. Unless your clients are very peculiar about bit depth, the 8 bit is really good and I have no problem using it on projects.
@@JamesJacksonFilmz I agree James! I think the 8-bit is perfectly fine. Haha i mean it's 8 bit
Would you still recommend it in early 2020?
Haha definitely its only like a year old
Yes, sure it is. But was more thinking regards the announcement of 1dx mark iii for example.
what companies do you typically rent from
Yoo!! I always rent from Resolution in N Philly. Sometimes I'll order from lenrentals though
Cool almost rented from them yesterday but, didn’t know how great the process and equipment would turn out. Glad to know you’ve already tried them out
@@KDTS1 You referring to Res?
Hey Danny great video. I'm still thinking about which stabilizer I should get for my C200. In Germany we can't buy the Canon C200b. We just have the Canon C200 with the evf. I'm thinking about the Ronin S or the Movi M5. Which stabilizer would you recommend for the C200?
The C200 (even B version) might be pushing the weight limit on the Ronin S too far. I have a C100 Mk2 that I use with a Ronin S and I feel sometimes and with some lenses it just doesn't let me take full advantage (upside down mode, lantern mode) of the gimbal so the C200 would definitely be worse. Go with the Movi M5 or the Ronin 2/Ronin M but beware that those aren't as easy to set up and take more time to operate - maybe only doable with a crew.
@@RuiAMGSilva Thanks for the information!
Here is a short film made by Canon C200
Do you ever miss the EVF and is it worth not having for the ease of fitting on Ronin M? I've used C100mkii for years and about to get the C200, want to use on Ronin M but afraid I'll miss having the EVF! haha
Hey Erik! I actually have never owned a cam with an EVF so i dont miss it at all. I just know its a pain whenever youre trying to fit on a gimbal so it was better off for me to go without it
Great vid dude! Bit the bullet & picked up mine last November...currently leaning towards the EOS R as a B-cam. Could you or anyone else chime in on this? DX is rad, but a bit pricey for a B unit. Thx man!
Thanks so much for watching man! Def don't waste your money on the 1dx. I regret it every day. I should have gone with the 5d mkiii or iv. Not worth the extra $4k haha.
@Christopher Fehr, I've been looking at puling the trigger on an EOS R myself as a B-cam ti my C100 Mk1. I purchased an M50 about a week ago as well as a speed booster and I can closely match the C100using WD and neutral on the M50, but low light on the M50 is not so good. I think I'm going to take the M50 back and get the EOS R since it has C-log and many other feature I like. I had been using the 5DM3 with magic lantern raw, but I think it's about time to upgrade it.
Thanks for chiming in David! I'm leaning towards the R, but have to unload my A7iii & GH5 first...They have their advantages...decisions, decisions! @@davidanderson4705
@@crisfehr I've been using the R along side my C100mkii and it's amazing. Especially recording external 10bit on the Atomos Ninja V. Yes it has it's querks and things Canon should have included but actually using it... very happy. For events I often have it on the Ronin S and in 1080 I can change from full frame to cropped easily with it set in "my menu" so when using the 16-35mm without changing lenses and re-balancing, I can go from full frame 16mm to crop sensor 35mm. Pretty useful!
And it now retails for 3K
U can only do 1080 in mp4?
No thats a mistake! You can shoot 4k on Mp4
4K 12 bit? Not even close. Great camera, though.
what ? C200 has autofocus ?
