This is the fifth video I've watched trying to figure out where the cargo scanned is displayed. As of current there's so much crap in so small a box that you really can't tell anything because there's not enough room. Yet another video on ship scanning that doesn't show how to scan a ship.. If you're just referring to scanning.. You don't have to quantify it as "ship".. As only ships CAN scan.
The Cargo Manifest is usually listed to the right of the ship equipment in the same panel. It forms a separate column of data. Some vehicles can scan like the ROC mining vehicle but it is pretty bad at it. You are usually very close to anything you find with a vehicle before you detect it.
Always appreciate people taking the time to make tutorials. Gonna be a chore having to redo all these when the game inevitably changes. With any luck it'll actually be fun then so you wont have to suffer.

Great guide, I like that style of small tutorial dedicated to a game function alone. You mentionned gun batteries, does it help identify and maybe target those nasty bunker turrets ? Often it seems I can't get a lock on them when I encounter those.
So when I mention gun batteries I usually refer to the ones in close proximity to a station. I have not tried it on a turret on an installation. However, I have seen signals for ground vehicles using the scanner. I suspect it probably does pick up the bunker turrets but you would likely be in targeting range by the time it is close enough.
The ship was abandoned so there was no pilot to identify any longer. Previous experience says you should see the ship owner but the 3.23.1 patch may have changed that.
You must not have been around very long. Back around 3.12, 3.13 there was a FULL wipe. Folks lost their minds along with everything else. 3.18 made nearly the whole game unplayable. 3.23 is just a learning curve in this Alpha.
Nothing new here. It has worked this way for a long, long time, other than changing the name of the radar focus adjustment. You could have talked about the new sub target scan needed to see and target sub targets….

I think we will eventually get the ability to adjust and scan for each of these individually and or in conjunction with each other.

Nice video Boffin! Not sure if it works in 3.23.1, but I used to be able to hold down F and then scroll through the scan data on the screen/ui
