This video was recorded a while ago when the OceanGate situation was all over the news, so expect some comments on that situation in this video. I want to be super clear that we're not making fun of the people in the submarine that tragically past. We're purely commenting on the ridiculous situation in general. I hope it doesn't ruin the video for you!

The Iron Lung dev himself posted a tweet that because of the OceanGate sub sinking, there was a spike on Iron Lung downloads and he was bothered by it.

There’s a movie called “Buried” about a US soldier waking up to find himself buried alive inside a coffin after an ambush. Most of the movie is filmed inside the tiny coffin but it was still incredibly suspenseful. So it is possible to make a good movie inside a really confined space. Hopefully Iron Lung will do it justice.
In my opinion it does! This game is another good example of a very suspenseful experience built inside a very confined space. If this is your first time watching/playing it, I hope you enjoy!

Hey Insym! I was in the US Navy and here to answer your questions. Submarines are made of steel (yes), but it is made in a way that it's almost impervious to depths that are classified. I can tell you there are different depths they go to. They have actual depth and test depth. Test depth is what the Navy is comfortable letting it go to. Actual depth is calculated based on hull thickness and that is as far deep as it can go without imploding :) hope that helped!
And the Titan is what happens when the test depth is deeper than the actual depth. XD
Essentially always make sure something can take more than what you're intending to let it go through

It's not fair to compare the OG sub to the Iron Lung. The 'Lung actually made it to the bottom of the ocean in one piece.
Tbf, bottom of the ocean isn't a specific depth.
The lung consist of one person and uses advanced controller.

The Titan might have been seaworthy during its initial dive, however, every time it dived, it would have taken on a lot of wear and tear, decreasing its safe dive distance for subsequent endeavors. The big issue was that they were ignoring safety, they weren't doing adequate checks to assess the damage properly and eventually, the worst happened.
As they say “if something bad can go wrong it will go wrong” - one of thoses laws
And the fact that putting a monitoring device would alert them to damage that needs replacing, if it made a sound it's too late
My favorite part is hearing insym talk about ramble about random topics. Usually it would be boring but insym always makes it fun to listen to

I work with engineers. The whole discussions they had when we learned that the Titan imploded were something that makes Insym jokes tame. Like how implosion affects the submersible and its crew. It was in the Yikes zone.
Implosion is near the bottom of the list of probable causes of my death but man it scares me to my core

In the title screen it looks like the blood oceans are pretty crimson in color which is actually great attention to detail, because usually blood turns more of a brown color after being oxidized. This proves that the blood oceans are in fact on moons that don’t have an oxygen atmosphere or one otherwise breathable by humans. Idk, just something I found interesting ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But deoxygenated mammal blood is blue, and it's stated that the blood ocean is human blood, so there's *enough* oxygen for the blood to be red but not so much atmosphere for the surface of the ocean to scab

I still think the game has it's own vibe and I'm impressed with it. The game has so much potential to add stuff to and the fact that there is a world outside of the submarine with a creature is crazy
You also need to replay IT STEALS, it was very good and iconic imo.

also the very first concept of implosion is then i played red faction where there is underwater vehicle sagments and then you destroy a sub it makes an animation where debris gravitates into itself like a reverse expanding balloon

its tragic for the 4 other people that was sadly lied to just to take their money and life. what is not tragic is the CEO. a murder is still a murder, have been warned about the sub but refuses to listen, so he is liable for the lives he took and i do not give pity for the person who committed it as its more like his poor choices had backfired on him and that is a lesson he can never learn from and get back to fix it.

Iron Lung is probably named after the iron lung, giant ventilators that encased the patient's body from the neck down. It was invented as early as 1670 but is well known after its proliferation during the polio outbreaks in USA in 1940s-1950s, and made a very small comeback during the 'rona. Both the submarine and the ventilators keeps you breathing, so that's the parallel I guess

While getting through the atmosphere, and fighting to escape gravity has proven to be quite the challenge, there was an excellent joke on Futurama when the Planet Express ship sank into the ocean about how many atmospheres of pressure it could withstand. Well, It's a spaceship, so anywhere between one, and zero. 🤣
300 atmospheres is definitely trickier to explore than zero.
Edit: about keeping time away from earth, long explanation, two things, days are measured by day and night cycles, which, floating in space wouldn't happen, but years, basically measured by days, still need to be corrected every four years with a leap year, because the orbit of earth around the sun takes longer than our measured 365 day and night cycles, so we add an extra day for the orbit to get to a full orbit, or losing that day every four years would eventually change the time we'd expect seasons to change and such. So floating in space measuring 24 hours, and then arbitrarily adding a day for an orbit you're not on anymore would need updating. A new system of keeping time and track of th passage of time.

This game is amazing. The only thing that i wish was that the serpentine fish (that peeked at you through the camera) showed up more than once, if you're wondering what i mean here; there's two different aquatic species (that we know of) in that ocean. That giant fish that first appeared in that picture, and ended up killing the main character at the end. That fish's eyes were on the front of it's head, while the other one looked more like a sea serpent with it's eye's on the side. Plus they're eyes are different; the fishes eyes look hollow, while the other ones eyes had more color. And this one could just be my imagination..... But that serpent seems to be pretty intelligent
The front-looking fish resembles an anglerfish very much but on a scale not seen on Earth. The other one could be anything but the eye reminded me of a whale, despite it not moving or sounding much like one that size

Regarding the Ocean Gate Titan disaster, I think dunking on the captain's death is absolutely fair game. He was warned about the potential consequences and continued in spite of it; he practically brags about it in interviews... The passengers were probably just naive and had nothing to do with the shoddy company, so I say let 'em rest in peace!!

The thing is, there is a whole paper trail of engineers telling the CEO that they discourage continuing using the submarine without at least some kind of repair because of SAFETY and the CEO claiming that safety concerns are just an "excuse" to "impede innovation". It's funny because for once, the person who spit in the face of safety actually experienced the consequence, instead of his employees suffering from it and their family only getting a non-apology and peanuts as compensation.
I feel somewhat sorry for the son who apparently didn't want to get on but was pressured to do so by his father and the other bigwig rich men, but not for the rich men themselves. All I can think about is- if they don't mind ignoring safety for themselves, they would surely care less for the safety practices for their employees in their companies.

Honestly the 4 passengers were not well informed. The CEO and his company misled them, and none of this stuff about people warning OceanGate for years became public till recently. So yeah I feel bad for the passengers who got scammed basically, but not the guy in charge.
