I find it interesting that almost everyone has the same transformation while exploring the music of King Diamond. At first listen, King's voice is shrill and off-putting, but the awesome music keeps you there. Then, after a few songs, you get used to the vocals as you become enveloped by the stories. After you hear several songs several times, you begin to hear the beauty and genius of what King does with his voice. From that moment, you almost crave his voice and the feelings it invokes. I guess I'm addicted to King Diamond at this point. 🤔
No worries love, most folks don't get King. My 1st time i was blown away by the voice, guitar licks, Drums etc After like 3 or 4 replays the horror and drama took hold. 30 plus years later it still gives me chills when i listen to it. Don't forget the sequel Conspiracy!
I hope They come back in the next album. I find them extremely mysterious especially their demon growls, the teapot having the same name as the house and the fact that they burn in sunlight as referenced in At the Graves
Hey Randi! Glad you are enjoying our continuing trip through the Them album! You are right on the money... There are numerous times where they use unharmonious sounds to unnerve the listener, but it still manages to work perfectly within the confines of this song. I'm going to break out the big music terms I never get to use and call this a cacophony, which is just a word meaning a harsh yet striking combination of chaotic sounds. They really excel at using this in several of their songs (on various different albums), so it was really cool to hear you talk about it! As for the story... Grandmother had the knife hidden behind her back. She cut her daughter's (King's mom) hand for a "blood offering" to put in the teapot for "THEM." King is a kid during this album, and he may or may not be brainwashed at this point. I won't give out any big spoilers, as we find out more as the album goes along. The one thing I will mention now as we've gotten to hear a few songs... In the very first song from this album, when Grandma is first arriving at the house... She was quite possibly returning from time spent in a sanitarium. That should help you feel at ease for the rest of the album! 🤣 Thanks for the video, Randi! Don't worry about the pauses, I think we all understand the copyrights and why you do it. Have a great weekend!
You just have to keep listening. Things will make sense. It's all a story and this story just happens to span across 2 albums. Them and Conspiracy. I really like watching you react to these albums. You're getting closer and closer to my favorite which is The Eye.
intoxicating effect of the blood tea made from his mother's wound on her hand ...was making them drunk and having a great time at mother's expense...the knife was sticking out of grandma's dress not in her back...she had it ready to make the blood tea
Hey! Cool vid. About the blood and tea - grandma cut mom's hand, then she drank the blood and tea with king, who was 'high' from the tea. Mother is getting weaker because of blood loss, which can be seen in the next song, called - you wouldn't guess it - Mother's getting weaker.
No grandma pulled a knife out from under her dress and cut King's mom, hand too get her blood to put into the teapot that Missy found which the tea pot is called "Amon". See King is actually a character in this story. There's King his sister Missy and his mother, and grandma. Oh and of course "Them". The house that grandma comes back to is the house called "Amon". More than likely a former resident of this house that died in the house and it's got trapped in the teapot and the rest of "Them" were probably associated or responsible for Amon's death and died themselves as a curse.
Y'know having a cuppa is far less dramatic around here. Just some mugs with hot tea. Yep, that's about it. I wouldn't mind having some top guitaring like this to give a bit more atmosphere, a change from the near silence I've come to love. I thought the solos were some of the finest I've heard from KD to date, the perfect speed and style the really embodies what I've come to know as true rock n roll. Another point of personal interest: now I'm used to hearing the vocalist plying his trade, I don't need the need to follow the lyrics so much. Also the shock effect of hearing him start a song has faded to nothing Neither do I think it funny anymore. On the whole, as with all I've heard from KD, I can honestly say that enjoyment was had. Seeing the multiple expressions move across your face was like seeing mine when I read a tasty story. I'm going through Ramond E Fiest's rift was saga, and post rift was stories set in has imaginary city of Krondor. There must be almost 30 books, all based around the same two worlds. Mostly Midkemia, and then Kelewen as well. This stuff is so well rounded it makes Tolkien seem basic. I packed 'em up on ebay for just over £10 for six titles. Thay average 500 crammed paged each. All fun. Nature calls as loud as my kettle. Fancy having me listen to something called "Tea", and not suddenly having a taste for a cup... LOL Take care. TTFN.

The entire Album is a story...listen to it in its entirety...
Then you'll understand. I first heard this album when I was twelve in 88.
"THEIR" voices are psychically addictive

King was put under a spell. That's why he "felt so heavenly"

King wasn't "high" from the blood tea.. he was falling under THEIR spell. Like his grandmother.
@@LiveFromThePorcelainPalace I agree, very bad choice of wording on my part.
@@nwz6h66 happens to all of us. No worries.

I think it was the euphoria from drinking the tea had him in a dreamlike state.
You should listen to the next album conspiracy. Some really fantastic music on that album.
Grandma is casting a spell on him……you will see.
the most odd and musically complex song from this album...and the most interesting))
next
