So many bands make it big by making music worthy of background noise for gamers. King Diamond made music that was worthy of being the entertainment on its own.
SUBBED. Damn dude you know what's up. That's most definitely what's up. Thank you for putting king diamond in the spotlight. This band gets a tragically small amount of the credit that they deserve. TWU
I agree with you totally. The start to this song is very much unexpected from King Diamond, yet at the same time is right in line with their level of musicianship. I have come to appreciate the moments where King catches you off guard with his higher vocals, lol. I've heard some "vocal coaches" talk about King's higher register, and they tend to say its generally a mixture of his head voice and falsetto, many calling it a metal opera type of range which seems really appropriate (both with his voice and their music). It fades out there to set up the next scene called "The Wedding Dream" in which Missy tries her best to warn her brother King of what's to come. Will she be successful in saving King? Only time will tell! Thanks so much, Randi for continuing the journey through this album in spite of the software difficulties! Screw OBS indeed! 🤣 Have a great day!!
If A Visit from the Dead is surprisingly for you then wait for song called A Wedding Dream - it will shock you, so that I have hope that next reaction of Conspiracy songs will be earlier than next 2 months :D
Great reaction, Randi! You mentioned the song structure and vocal elements within this song during your comments, and I couldn't agree more. A VISIT FROM THE DEAD is a fine example of King's multi-faceted vocal techniques and the musicianship of this band. Thanks for taking us along as you explore the music of King Diamond ....I've been waiting awhile for this one. 😉
Hi Chace, Hi Randi. Hope you're well. Was it just me? Or was this song leaning toward the commercial side of rock? Not moaning about that, just the way I heard it. It also seemed lighter, and less oppressive as most of the other stuff. Makes me wonder if this is the calm before the onslaught of horror>.Those in the know, please don't tell... LOL Shor comment this time. It's getting really hard to see what I'm typing. Be well dear people. TTFN.
Hey Graham! I don't think its so much a conscious decision to lean into commercial rock as it is to just be an almost sweet sounding song to reflect that King is trying to talk to his sister. Its definitely less opressive in an attempt to show that, I think. There is SO MUCH to impact in the rest of the album. King is VERY much in need of his sister's warning though which will be the next song (The Wedding Dream). No spoilers here, but King is quite possibly in for a rough ride going forward.
This is my favorite song on this album
“Not what I would’ve expected “. 😂 wait for it …..
That intro solo ( Peter Blakk) is near perfect.......Kings lyrics of the summer and of the garden.......so sentimental.
Oh boy! It's been a long time since I heard this song, the first 2 minutes are worth the entire song. Fantastic lineup! Nice reaction, well done. ❤
7:03 my favorite part, your head bob changes to match the cadence of that wicked solo! Good stuff!
This album came out the day before I got my drivers license. I got it on cassette so I could play it in my mom's car. brings back THE BEST feelings.
