Great video man thank you for actually showing the process👍🏻👍🏻
I just finished this job an hour ago and i did everything as he did except i only released the drivers side tie rod and the pitman and idler arms and left the passenger side tie rod end installed. I was trying to be lazy and leave the whole steering mechanism in but the diff didnt maker past the steering rods so i stayed lazy and only released 3 of the 4 joints he stated. I left the tires on and did this on ramps on the ground. I did take the tires off tontake out the cv bolts but then put thr tires back on to ride it up the ramps thus giving me crush protection and extra room to work.
Greay job on the extremely clear instructions and videos angles.
Hope my adventure helps someone else out.
Lots of good information, excellent quality video, and step-by-step "how to do it". I wish all UA-cam videos were this short and informative!
Wow, Dude!!!! This is how ALL automotive repair videos should be done!!!!
High quality mechanics video. Not long winded talking...just quick wrenching. Appreciate it brotha! 🔧
Thank you SO MUCH for doing it 2x speed and adding audio OVER you video. It was quick and to the point! They don’t make them like they used to. Haha.
Best video Ive seen on this. Can't wait to do it myself. In my driveway. 🙄
This is by far one of the best instructional videos I’ve seen in my life, and Lord knows I’ve watched a lot of them. Can’t thank you enough for such a brief concise instructional video!
If all how-to videos were this easy to watch. Nice job 👍
Best video on youtube!! 3 mins and you know what to do. Not some 30 minute video explaining why you didnt work on it 2 weeks ago. Imma subbin. Thank you!
A+ short and sweet while including all important info!
Great video. Exactly what I was looking for. Looks like one dude in the comments is upset you didn’t put his differential in for him. There’s only so much help a video can provide, brother.
Awesome video quick concise to the point
Nice video clear and communicated greatly. Thanks for not filling my time with bS you rock.
God send no wast of time love the content true blessing to find this tutorial/tips
Overall layout of the video is the best. Including torque specs would make these videos a 1 stop shop!
Holy cow, stunningly well done. Talk about efficiency! Hot damn! Thanks!
THIS is the way to do a video. SUBSCRIBED.
That's how you do an informative mech. Video no BS
Only after following this video did I find out, absolutely nothing on the tie rods needs to be removed. Pull the plates, axles and cross member and the diff comes right out.
lol I was wondering tge same . In another video i watched , the guy removed the cross bar , cv bolts , and then said it's ready to come out . Glad I found this comment
I took it out without removing the steering arms.... putting it in was another story. All day changing gaskets, the timing chain and oil pump so I said nahhh I'll tackle this shit tomorrow. Guess those steering arms are coming off right after my morning coffee 😅
I like it.
I have to say im not looking forward to this but thanks for the video and it is what it is
I have heard 58 and 65 foot pounds so I did 60 for the 15mm CV axle bolts
Can you pull the front differential while the wheels are on a ramp? Or do they have to be off the ground?
Yeah just make sure you have the steering center link out of it
Great vid I have a 03 1500 do you know if the 03 2500 diff will bolt in if it has same gears ?
The front diff will not sadly I've tried rear diff you can put a Duramax one in a 1500
Is this the same for the 2014-2018 generation? I need to replace mine
What happens it u run a truck with bad front differential in 2wheel
Great video , curious if a 2007 AWD DENALI front diff , will work on a 2005 AWD DENALI...?
THANKS ✌
No Denali had awd this is 4x4 front differential
Hello is it possible to convert silverado 1500 5.3L z71 lt diffential to awd from 4x4
As I was changing the oil, found out why front axle stopped working. Shaft connected to front differential is loose as a goose.
Would I have to remove differential to replace bearings and seal?
It would be a lot easier than trying to fight the diff in place, and if the front axle quit working I'd pull it and tear down for inspection because loose input shaft bearings alone should not cause it to cease transmitting power. A good used diff from a self-service salvage might serve you well to inspect then swap out so you can drive the truck without being delayed working on the old diff.
Hello friend, I have a 4x4 silverado, I want to remove the front differential and CV axles, do you think it would affect anything on my bearings?
No, you can pull the axles and diff without affecting hub bearings
What where the signs and symptoms that it was bad
Can anyone tell me if 4:56 gears will fit in this front diff I know some came woth 4:10
How much do they charge
Can some please post part numbers for the nuts an bolts for the front differential carry I cant seem to find the part numbers
Your Chevy dealer can print the diagram and sell you the hardware. Lots of little stuff is quite reasonable via dealers.
Why do you have to mess the the pitman and idler arms? Can you not just remove the cross member and get clearance that way?
We ended up doing quite a bit of other work when we did the oil pan so we removed the steering linkage for access. Sure made the diff removal easy, but you might be on to something, let us know!
@@MasterJacks swapping out my front diff today. I’ll see if it comes out with our taking those off
@@BryanAdamsNotTheSinger so what was the verdict which is better the pitman idler or the cross member?
@@paulhochstetler165 Doing this job right now on a 2004 1500 Sierra. Looks like the cross member attaches to a bracket that sticks out directly under the rear diff input yoke. We are going to remove the steering arm, and then IF needed, remove the cross member. Update soon.
- Update: We removed the steering rod, rotated diff forward and lowered it while clearing the stabilizer bar. Came out smooth and nice, did not remove crossmember.
Stay gold.
Is it the same for Escalades ?
Yes
What’s the torque on the mounting bolts?

Getting this thing back in is the hardest hardest part. 'cause it refuses to go back in and you blew by that part so fast, thanks for nothing, bro.
