Because of voice quality and vocal skills. He may forgot the lyrics but he is incredibly talented. If he had more charisma and know how to choose the right songs he could have made it in the finals.
Honestly, Anthony should have made it over Terrell. Terrell's attitude would have thrown an instant no for me. Go on the road with that attitude and see how far it gets you
After listening to this a few times it seems like they made the conscious decision to repeat the first verse for Sway rather than the banger 2nd verse charms/arms, since they're still singing eyes. So all he had to do was sing what Anthony had already sung, and he still couldn't manage to pull that off, even forgetting the hook of the song. It is insulting that he wasn't cut here lol So here's the thing. Elliot knew the song. He was fully within his right to decide he was done practicing. He killed it, and it's not a song that needs all 4 there to be rehearsed since they aren't doing harmonies. Sway completely deserved to be bitched out for making a stupid lazy decision that had every right to come back and bite him on the ass, only for it miraculously not to. Like, that was an embarrassment, and somehow he got away with no negative comments at all
