no one could ever understand how much i love this song. it's emotional and powerful and beautiful and catchy and - i love it. just listen to the words. LISTEN. whenever i actually take the time to listen, it brings me to tears. a truly great song.
WOW, that is spooky! The whole song uses an earthquake metaphor. And Elliott's been performing this obscure bonus track a lot lately in concerts too! It's like he had a premonition or something, haha.
That's exactly what I was thinking but in a different way, like when he says standing in the middle of a doorway I see it like an opportunity for someone and they made it out of something and then earthquakes can represent trouble in life and turbulence which is relatable to all of us this year...
@19Starstruck91 That's awesome! Glad you liked it. I bet lots of others who forgot about Elliott liked it too- you can't get better promotion than Idol. I just wish it were a single that people could buy on its own, b/c I'm sure it'd sell. If you don't have the album Fight for Love, I recommend it. If you think Doorway's good, there are lots of songs on it that are as good & even better! Most of them are super catchy with amazing vocals, & a bit more of a contemporary sound than the 1st album.
@19Starstruck91 Not likely, unless Elliott's psychic- the song came out in May 2009. Lots of people don't know this b/c E's 2nd album, Fight for Love, was so poorly promoted. Didn't get a fraction of the attention it deserved. The sad thing is, it's even better than his 1st & there's not a weak track on it! LOVE how this song was featured on Idol in the video of E's return to Angola! For those who like the song, go get the album at iTunes!
@MsSweetsophie In case you didn't find it... for some reason UA-cam won't let me post the link to Elliott's album, "Fight for Love," but just type that name into the search bar on iTunes, and the album will show up. Or even just searching for Elliott Yamin will work too. You have to buy the whole album to get the bonus tracks, but don't worry, it's worth it! All the songs are well-written & catchy, and I have to admit - way better than most of the songs on E's 1st album.
@elliottlover88 From Wikipedia: "Yamin was in Viña Del Mar, Chile, during the 8.8 magnitude 2010 Chile earthquake on February 27, 2010" Might have to do something with it, don't you think?
Guys i love the song..i just don't get what it is about standing in the doorway..that changes things for her...does anyone..it feels silly to ask..but i'd really like to know?
This is an amazing song - wish they would have let him sing it on IGB this week...instead we had to suffer through 2 pitchy Alicia Keys songs. Come'on Idol! Didn't even speak to Elliott Yamin - let him wave from the audience. WOW!
@trytouchthis like yur protected from gettin hurt by him. its using earthquakes as its metaphor. cus tha best place for an earthquake is to stand in the doorway cus its tha strongest part. so yaa . he's saying that tha safest place from gettin hurt is to stand in the middle of tha doorway.

i cant find his album help please on itunes where is it
@8cherrylips Yeah we think that but the runners up have a lot more freedom than the winner. It probably works out better for him this way.
i caught a lil thing. isn't it should be "doesn't that mean you made it out" instead of "don't that mean you made it out"?
Wht does the doorway stand for.... Is it a choice
@yourmymainthang thanks:)

@30STMxxxxx
DAAAAAYUM :o
So ironic that Elliott survived the 8.3 richter earthquake today in Chile by standining in the doorway and hollering to others to do the same.
