The fact is that those who benefit from militarization of blacks would likely have had a hand in causing black tragedies. All the while, the people who create social outlets where people of different racial groups can socialize are more trustworthy because they benefit from peace instead of conflict. I feel as if we need a new movement built around this sort of cross racial socialization. We can call it LHF (let's have fun) and the symbol can be a hand shake as opposed to an upward turned fist.

When you don't know something, you're actually honest in expressing that. And it's something we all seem to have lost; the ability to just say, you know what, I really don't know enough about that to speak intelligently on it. Instead, everyone seems to feel this pressure to have some kind of stance or opinion on anything. Stay curious; the more curious, the more research you do, the more informed you are, and the less likely you are to experience cognitive dissonance. Glad you're out there doing your thing.

People choose to say things to people that they want to hurt. They will say the thing that they think will hurt them the most. So in her case, her friend got them to say racist things because that was the best way to hurt her the most. That does not mean they were racist, just that they said racist things to hurt her. Like if someone was to call someone four eyes because they had glasses, or said bad things about their red hair. It is not that they are against people that wear glasses or have red hair, they just know that is the easiest/best way to hurt them.

Hey Jojo, You are quite exceptional. You don't just follow the social “herd”, by jumping to a conclusion, without, first, making sure that you have the facts.
---> You have an inner strength that prevails over chaos. That is remarkable, in a time when all the people are, not only jumping to conclusions which are not supported by the facts, but they're “putting the cart before the horse” by STARTING with their conclusions already fully formed!
---> You correctly reject their mad rush to judgement, which they justify based on the popular, but incorrect notion that “researching a subject” means, at best, nothing more than cherry-picking only the evidence that supports their subjective opinions. Any evidence they find which contradicts their personal opinions, is discarded, or simply ignored, assuming it was irrelevant disinformation, or LIES.
---> I believe that we would be much closer to World Peace, if everyone would approach issues with the same thoughtful, thorough, and fair examination of the facts, that you consistently bring to the discussion, before reaching any conclusions.
---> You are a rare example of a man of uncommon valor and integrity, valuing Truth, Honor, and Justice, so much, that you will never bow to Social pressures, just to “'Get Along, by Going Along”.
---> I've said it before, and I will say it again: You are truly wise, beyond your years!

I have very little context but it sounds like the kid was a "nice guy". He had feelings for her that she didn't share and when she got a new boyfriend he felt like his world was ending - like all hormonal, dramatic, self-centered kids do. I'm sure that nobody could understand his pain and he couldn't stand to see her with someone else when he's the only one who really appreciates who she is. His pain was just too great to bear alone and he had to make her understand how badly she had hurt him. So he said and did some idiotic things and took it past the point of no return into crazy territory. He probably wasn't racist - just an idiot kid in puppy love...that doesn't mean he gets any leeway, either.
Having been a young man myself, I think it is pretty common that most boys are that "nice guy" at one point or another. Some grow out of it sooner than others and it is innocent at the beginning. Boy is infatuated with girl and wants to be with her but will accept just being friends...hopefully someday she'll see him as more and that's enough. Boy does nice things for girl, genuinely listens to her and provides support, and is there with a shoulder to cry on in tough times. Boy gets the courage to tell his true love how he feels and gets rejected. Boy tells himself "I was always there for her and I treated her like she deserves and this is the thanks I get??" as though he is owed payment for the things he voluntarily did of his own accord...most of which are things that friends do for one another without expecting payback. Boy arrogantly thinks he is the only one who can truly understand how special she is and he is the only one who can treat her like she deserves. Boy convinces himself he was taken advantage of and lashes out to punish and hurt the object of his affection like he has been hurt.
That boy thinks he is placing her above all others in his mind and likely doesn't even recognize what all of this actually says about how he feels. His actual opinion of her is that she isn't special enough or beautiful enough that others would be able to see it. That nobody would treat her like she deserves other than him. That he is owed her love because he voluntarily did nice things for her like transactions at a grocery store. "Nice guys" don't see how gross this all actually is because their intent starts out innocent...but once the possibility of his fantasy becoming reality is gone, it all comes out.

Amazing how the rumors fly and people just believe them and promote them, when they have no idea what the truth is, isnt it? This is why the country is a mess.

Grown adults at that. That's like some childish things we used to do in Junior High. Hear a rumor and believe it to be true then tell the next person. These are grown adults acting like children and it's not just college age, it's all ages of grown people.

Just like the ones who hate JK Rowling and have no clue about her at all. They “heard” gossip and jumped on it with no evidence.

What Candace is saying I think is... these people were all pretty darn young including her. They were saying incredibly mean racist things to or about her. And it impacted their lives at later dates(all of them)... This rings very true, and sadly brings to mind something that happened last summer. A good friend of mines very young daughter was groomed and then raped by a 30 something man... Charges filed, police involved the whole thing, right... Well her best friend in school, which his daughter told her friend what happened... Got into a little argument, two teenage girls... and her friend said to her... "Well, at least I wasn't raped"... Of course causing my friends daughter to break down in tears right there... Kids, can say exceedingly cruel stuff to each other, and it happens... One would hope they can all be sat down and it can be figured out between them for healing... Unlike what Candace described.
