Thanks for the video!!! I installed the GROM AND2 Android adapter in my '05 G35 Coupe today. Not only does this video show how to remove the stereo, it also shows you how to install the adapter specifically for the G35. Way less confusing then the instructions that came with the unit. I now have a 7" tablet mounted in my car for music and movies :)
Thanks for posting this video! I just installed a Grom USB3 in my 2006 G35 sedan. Your vid saved me the headache of figuring out how to disassemble my dash. I was done in an hour.
Probably the best and clearest instructional video I've ever seen on UA-cam - Thank You. Yes I would have expected more out of the Bose radio, so this is great. Has the sound quality improved? I've been thinking of also adding/changing speakers......Thanks again!
Glad to help! Well, the intent of this set up was mostly to get access to more sources than the CD and radio options available with the stock. There is not necessarily an improvement in audio quality, but now you get to play from clean sources, and if the tracks are good it comes out great. My Spotify playlists and high bitrate mp3s on the phone sound great through this. It's just too bad Infiniti did a huge let down with that silly Clarion head unit :( I am also trying to do some improvements with just the speakers and maybe the amp. But the ideal change is to do a complete overhaul. I just don't have the money right now :)
great video. i was wondering where you bought this device at with the USB and aux cables all together like in the bundle package. Also, did you film this with a gopro?
It wasn't a bundle per se. I bought the parts separately from the GROM site. I used a coupon code though. And yes, filmed with a gopro. I did the closeup videos with my phone.
Alright so I installed the Grom USB 3 but for some reason I had to leave the socket unattached to get it to work, just like you did in the video. For whatever reason it won't work if I keep the old plug strapped in.
Bicloptic yeah, I think that was the case for me too. but someone commented that it has to be plugged in so that the grom works properly without getting impacted from slow cranks. I am yet to try it out.
From the instructions SAT Emulation + stereo WITHOUT factory NAV and/or SAT: do not reconnect the factory harness back to the female end of NIS02 harness or it will interfere with SAT. SAT Emulation + stereo WITH factory NAV and/or SAT: to preserve the NAV and/or Factory External CD changer, reconnect the factory harness back to GROM NIS02 female slot (4). You will then also need to locate the Factory Satellite Radio Tuner module (if equipped) in the vehicle (typically located in the trunk) and disconnect it from there directly in order to disable the factory SAT.
I'm a little confused because it says I'm supposed to connect it if I have either a Nav or a Sat. I don't have Sat but I do have a Nav. But it then goes to say to disconnect the Satellite radio tuner.
I have an 07 g35 coupe and this video inspired to do it myself. I ran into a problem where it only works when the car is in acc position and when started it does'nt work :(. Any ideas? Great video btw... Waiting for more install videos.
Well this happens to me also sometimes. I have not been able to check it out and fix yet. Try reaching out to the grom support guys. They are generally very unhelpful. Let me also know :)
jilltheman007 Im having the same problem described above 25% of the time with the grom usb3. Grom has been mostly useless with issues I've had. I got mine from Autotoys and they've been responding to my problem trying to find a solution.
Aravinda Dassanayake Yeah, so from all the research I've done the issue with the unit happens from voltage drop that occurs while cranking which causes the unit not to turn on before the radio. So unless Grom fixes the issue they've admitted, the only solution may be a new or stronger battery. Another thing I've been doing is keeping my lights off while starting the car. By the way I have the usb3 not usb2 but it's almost the same.
I wanted to add that a good spot to run the AUX and USB cables if you have the storage compartment (like in this video) and not the navigation is through the back of the storage compartment. I drilled to separate holes just big enough to feed the cables through. Looks very clean and you don't have cables hanging all over the place :)
Can anyone help me with an issue I've been having, I got this installed professionally a year ago and now I'm a having a problem where my phone is connected to GROM CAR but there is no option for XM1 or XM2 anymore, sometimes it comes back but it's been off and on
Quick question. I have a G35 Coupe 2005 Bose Sound. When I hit the mode button on the radio, I only have FM 1&2 and CD, is this normal? It's to my understanding that it I should be prewired for SAT. Does XM 1&2 only show up once I have something connected? Thanks !
Bicloptic does the IDP4 have the Aux connector? that was an important feature for me and I am not sure if this model was even around when I was shopping.
It looks like both accept the Aux connector. The IDP4 you have to buy it yourself. I'm having trouble finding out the differences myself. I'll try emailing the company.
It sounded low coz my volume on the phone was set to low by mistake. For the same volume on the phone, the aux and micro usb connections give out the same volume.
My guess is it should as the SAT port is all it needs to interface to the head unit. But, you better check with GROM support (www.gromaudio.com/support.html). They are extremely helpful.
Thank you! I directly bought from the From site. Check www.gromaudio.com. I remember there was a coupon when I bought to knock off a small amount. Check if there is any such offer right now.
One of the clearest, easiest to follow, best produced DIY youtubes that I have seen. Thank You! "Best in Class"
Dan Rowe you made my day! glad it helped!

Best instructional video I've seen so far keep en coming dude.
Thanks mate!
Awesome video! This helped clarify alot of things and helped me find the 12v wire! Works beautifully!
Thanks Aaron! glad it helped.

Great video, thanks for making it! Is your GROM unit also bluetooth capable? Looking into purchasing the GROM bluetooth unit soon myself.
Thanks! The unit is not Bluetooth capable. I wish I did get it though.
Hi where Did u get ur Grom and for how much? Very very nice video
i need this same install video to be this clear but for the 2010 non nav g37
Alright so I installed the Grom USB 3 but for some reason I had to leave the socket unattached to get it to work, just like you did in the video. For whatever reason it won't work if I keep the old plug strapped in.

Did you get this sorted out?

Michael Haon any direction you can share for us to troubleshoot our units?

Just an FYI this adapter is no longer sold. Go to gromaudio.com to see the latest adapters.

my 2006 m45 has navigation and bose stereo. will there be any complications connecting the grom?
Quick question. I have a G35 Coupe 2005 Bose Sound. When I hit the mode button on the radio, I only have FM 1&2 and CD, is this normal? It's to my understanding that it I should be prewired for SAT. Does XM 1&2 only show up once I have something connected? Thanks !
I have the same thing in my G. you should be able to get XM 1&2 after you install the Grom Audio device.
nice video
Will I loose my XM radio functionality if use this? I just simply want the Grom AUX adapter kit.
I think so coz you are using that channel for the grom. I didn't care to check coz I didn't use the XM anyway.
Do the steering wheel controls work with this also does the mic that came with the car still function during phone calls
Steering wheel controls - yes. Mic I haven't tested. Will try to test n let u know.
Is there a reason why you chose the Grom USB2 rather than the Grom IPD4? I'm trying to compare the two and it seems that both have the same features.
Would this be almost similar for G37 non navi?
it sounds so low with the aux im afraid of that if I get this.
It sounded low coz my volume on the phone was set to low by mistake. For the same volume on the phone, the aux and micro usb connections give out the same volume.
is that really an 07 Coupe? My 07 looks way more updated. I know the engines are different, but the interiors?
Wat trim is urs? Probably u have the nav package?
will this work if i have the oem navi? i have an 06 g35 coupe
My guess is it should as the SAT port is all it needs to interface to the head unit. But, you better check with GROM support (www.gromaudio.com/support.html). They are extremely helpful.
Why would you go thru the whole setup and miss the Bluetooth config part? Smdh wasted my time
