  • In this episode of DIY Willy, I will be replacing the tired old front passenger side window regulator in the 2008 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab. The process showed in this video will work for either side of the Gen 2 trucks. Don’t let the thought of doing this repair scare you from completing the replacement yourself. It is an easy job and anyone with simple tools can do it.
    Shop around when searching for replacement parts and find the best deal that fits your budget. Stock replacement parts would probably be the best choice but they are usually the most expensive. There are alternative parts like what I chose that will work just fine.
    So follow along as we continue to repair and upgrade our 2008 Nissan Frontier.

    Suggestion - When you receive the NEW window regulator, TEST IT BEFORE you remove the OLD one.
    If it is defective, you still have a drive-able truck to go back to the store and get another motor.

      Hello Bill, If I needed to do this job with the window up, I would still unbolt the glass first by either reaching inside or making new holes in the door to use a socket on the bolts. Thanks for watching!!

    Thanks for posting your video. I have a 2004 Nissan Frontier. I had noticed for the past year or so that the drivers side window would go up and down really slow. But today.... when i lowered my window as I was driving... it went down just fine. But, when I pressed the button for it to go back up... nothing happened. First of all.... do you know if any of the fuses specifically go to the regulator? Second... do you think it's possible... that the tracks need to be lubricated .... and that maybe that might be the reason the window has been working so slow for the past year or more? Sounds like I would still need to remove the door panel, etc.... to get inside and spray the silicone inside the door? What do you suggest? Hopefully, the silicone spray will get everything loosened up and lubricated? I appreciate any help you can provide to me. Thanks so much Willy! --- Tom

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  9 місяців тому +2

      Hello Tom, My experience is with the 2nd gen Frontiers but I wouldn’t think the system changes too much between the generations. There should be a large fuse 50A under the hood and smaller 10A in the block inside the truck. Check those but I would think if the other windows are worked then most likely the regulator is your problem. You should always try and clean the window tracks and lubricant them often. Try deep cleaning with WD40 and a rag, getting inside the track top to bottom. You will need to remove the door panel and moisture barrier to do this. Also wipe the edges of the glass. Then spray the silicone spray to lubricate everything. Dirty tracks can cause this problem you’re describing and definitely if you live in a dusty environment. Once they are lubricated run them up and down a few times and spray it again. If it still will not work properly then you may new a new window regulator. Hope this helps you!! Have blessed day! Thanks for watching!!

      Thank you so much Willy for the time you took to answer my question and concerns. Yeah, as a matter of fact I was chatting with a friend of mine... whose drivers side window did the same thing. It was working slower each time with the up and down movement, and the last time the window went down, it would not come back up. Yeah, all the other 3 windows are working perfectly, so, I went ahead and ordered a new regulator and motor on Amazon, for only $53. Out of curiosity I did call the local Nissan repair shop, and would you believe they wanted $178 up front just to diagnose the issue, when I think it is obvious it just needs the new regulator, right? Plus, it would have been parts and labor above the $178! So, thanks for posting your video, and for all the info about using the WD-40 too, and for your wonderful reply back to me, and so quickly! Have a SUPER rest of your day Willy! Thanks a million!!! -- Tom

      Yes the repairs can be expensive at the dealer service dept. They will usually charge for troubleshooting and may include those fees in the repair. Some people have no choice but to pay someone else to do the work. I believe you’ll have no problems with the repair. Remember though you will still need to clean out the guides and generously lube them before operating the new regulator. Good luck on the repair! I also check the comments daily so if you have a question just ask and I’ll do my best to help… Thanks again for watching!!

    • @tomn3610
      @tomn3610 9 місяців тому +1

      Oh, regarding spraying with the silicone..... I noticed in your video you mention that you also spray the new regulator .... but are there areas of the new regulator where i should "not" spray any silicone? Also, is the Blaster Silicone just as effective as the WD-40 silicone spray? Or, do you suggest one of them, over the other? Thanks again Willy! Your the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @DIYWilly
      @DIYWilly  9 місяців тому +1

      @@tomn3610Any of the silicon sprays will be fine. You notice on the new part areas that are greased or should be. Don’t mix the spray with grease. The grease is best in those areas. Or if it comes with grease and you have to apply it. Make sure you grease all motorized and moving parts and guides. You’ll see when you get the new part..

      Definitely use a socket with a long ratchet. Should come out. The drill probably doesn’t have the torque needed to remove bolts. You’ll need leverage.
