LOVED this level, the music was awesome, the snarky mini plot was hilarious, and I loved that there were actual puzzles that revealed secrets, as opposed to the other levels which were pretty much straightforward. Finding the 'prison' was quite interesting, and the hidden cache of booty was quite useful!
From what I remember you can also pickpocket the key to the treasure hold behind the throne off the Amazon Queen the moment you first meet her. Then you can break into the hold with the key, take all the money there, and hit the shard container with your sword to release it. It's a minimal combat route.
I didn't play LoL1 (I did play LoL2 and LoL3 though) but it's always possible that more amazons simply arrived out of the Arctic Wastelands to occupy the prime real estate that was the tower.
I don't know about evil, but if you kill her right away you still have to find the shard in the throne room, it's not on her at the beginning, though she's FAR easier to kill than if you play it out properly.
That's the funny thing about this game. Savegames often got bugged for no real reason. I read in an FAQ that if you tried to act evil (killing innocents in Lower Gladstone and the like) you could easily get stuck. Is that because Westwood originally planned an Evil ending and never finished it?
I see. Yet another sign that EA rushed this game "because it's not C&C and is not profitable." Sooo many features removed. The inn room won't let you store stuff, several worlds lacking battle music entirely, no evil ending, many MANY bugs. This series deserved a better ending than this.

Actually, there is still a ghost in the tower in this game. You only get to meet it when you're part of the fighter's guild and do their second quest.

true, but I think it's less fun to do it the 'easy way' ^_^
SPOILERS
Sentinel, if you kill the Amazon Queen immediately after first meeting her to get the shard immediately, does the game consider you as evil?
