it has got to be one of the greatest intros for a game ever, making you want to play -so I did (start to finish).... note how the music synchs with the on screen text...
Glad to see I'm not the only one. Had this way back in the day and remember it was one of the first games I got to hear on a sound card. First time I ever had a physical sensation to imagery and sound.
First Time I played this I had no experience with PCs, so when I started playing a completly mute game I thought "This is @#%&ing awasome". Years latter replaying it I was old enough to dare messing with PC Configs and sound drivers... My head exploded when this intro started with music and the thunder crushing, I was blown away TWICE by the same game, it was a whole new experience for me and played the s#%t out of it. This must be in my top 3 game of all time, right next to diablo 1, difference is, I still replay EoB2 now and then.
Probably the game that kick-started my love for computer rpg:s, which then got me into reading fantasy novels. Without that, I would never have picked up Lord of the Rings a year later and the thousands and thousands of hours I spent spellbound in different fantasy worlds would never have happened. I still remember the shivers I got down my back when I first watched this intro as a boy in the early 90's, at a friends house, hearing the slightly creepy midi music and watching the atmospherics intro before you stepped into the dungeon sure brings back some good memories. :) Awesome game for it's day, and FU EA for killing of Westwood!
My brother and I played this as kids. He hates it, I love it. We never got further than the dungeon where you can't rest, until I beat it as an adult a couple years ago. Look here see, you need two fighter/clerics and two cleric/mages. You'll always have someone to cure poison and paralysis without being fucked over by lack of slots or a paralysed cleric, also lots of healing and hold person spells for crucial moments. Get Insal, until you pick the lock for Ambers bones, yeet him and resurrect Amber (mage/thief), then get San-Raal (mage) and prioritise him for scrolls. Use his Wall of Force to get the stuff from the green gem path in temple level 2 by stopping a wall from trapping you, if you want. There you go you've got 4 mages and 4 clerics. All the firepower, hasting, buffing and healing you could want and you still have a thief.
Omg, looks like doommaster1994 was a little "annoying" right? :P, BTW, AWESOME GAME!! I just LOVE THIS GAME, I always want to see a battle between Khelben and Dran XD
This intro still gives me the chills after decades.
The nostalgic feel watching this makes me teared.

Get chills right at the moment he teleports you. That music...

@@jeremiahl3529 same here. And I came from a background of playing on NES. Adlib and SB absolutely blew my mind.
Still going strong in 2021. One of the best games made.
One of the best intros of all time. Awesome.
The sound and graphic design of this game is simply amazing

Adlib/soundblaster sound still sound the best even today.

"Sure thing, just let me grab a thing or two, maybe a sword nope I'm in a forest."
I remember playing this game a long time ago. I do remember finishing it but I had forgotten how good this intro was. Thanks for posting it.

Really cool game, one of first RPG that I played...
Some friend. He doesn't give you time to prepare or get a good sleep before heading out, he just sends your ass right into action.
Awesome intro. Loved every minute of this tough-as-nails game. The music in this intro is second to none!

Did Scotia and King Richard changed your life too? :)
@Doommaster1994 The XT was an old model of PC. This was before the faster, 286 ATs came out.
Frank Keplacki composed this when he was... 16 or 17 years old.
No he didn't.
@@KulDeeSak so Frank Keplacki did not compose it, he wasn't 16 or 17 years old, or what do you mean?

@Sentinel1969 Thanks, i thought so... ;)
How did Dungeons and Dragons go from moody serious dark fantasy like this intro to things like the Dungeons and Dragons movie...
Nice :)

It's great but the music descends whilst they're ascending the staircase... just doesn't fit.. haha. But after that the music is incredible.
