There is a concert video from, I think, the late 1990s of CCR. This song was so well done and they had fun on stage doing it! All those guitars lined up at the front of the stage playing together--it was a really impressive concert. Had a recording of it at one time and played this song often. So impressed by the show they put on.
The original was Gladys Knight and the Pips... then Marvin Gay... then Creedence Clearwater Revival.... I literally had all three 45rpm records... just a very good song! react to all three...
Gaye was also not the first, nor CCR the last! From Wiki, the full breakdown: ""I Heard It Through the Grapevine" is a song written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong for Motown Records in 1966. The first recording of the song to be released was produced by Whitfield for Gladys Knight & the Pips and released as a single in September 1967. It went to number one on the Billboard R&B Singles chart and number two on the Billboard Pop Singles chart and shortly became the biggest selling Motown single to date. The Miracles were the first to record the song in 1966,[1] but their version wasn't released until August 1968 when it was included on their album Special Occasion. The Marvin Gaye version was the second to be recorded, in the beginning of 1967, but the third to be released. It was placed on his 1968 album In the Groove, a year and a half later, where it gained the attention of radio disc jockeys, and Motown founder Berry Gordy finally agreed to its release as a single in October 1968, when it went to the top of the Billboard Pop Singles chart for seven weeks from December 1968 to January 1969 and overtook the Gladys Knight & the Pips' version of being the biggest hit single on the Motown label (Tamla). The Gaye recording has since become an acclaimed soul classic. In 1998 the song was inducted to the Grammy Hall of Fame for "historical, artistic and significant" value. In 2004, it was placed 81 on the Rolling Stone list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. And on the commemorative fortieth anniversary of the Billboard Hot 100 issue of Billboard magazine in June 2008, Marvin Gaye's "Grapevine" was ranked sixty-fifth. In 2018, the Gladys Knight & the Pips version was also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.[2] In addition to being released several times by Motown artists, the song has been recorded by a range of musicians including Creedence Clearwater Revival, who made an eleven-minute interpretation for their 1970 album, Cosmo's Factory."

Cheryle Luchini, actually Gladys Knight and the Pips put this out about 6 months before the Marvin Gaye version. We were just back from Germany (army brat) December 1967 and heard it on the radio.😎😎😎😎

You're the best reaction chan on youtube right now IMO. I've prob watched 50+ of your videos and each is good stuff. Genuine, honest, and you probably don't realize that you both have a high musical intelligence and emotional sensitivity. People try to fake that sort of thing (which isn't possible to a keen eye), but you back it up with often quick understanding of sometimes not easily digested lyrics and/or musical themes, etc. I usually watch reactions just to relive those moments, and you guys hit the mark very frequently. Keep it up! Whatever is in store down the line, just stay true to who you guys are; the audience can sense when people start 'faking it'. I've seen channels sell out and practically start pretending they've never heard Happy Birthday before lol. As a person somewhat obsessed with music, Fogerty often enters my mind as the greatest voice in rock music history. Cornell, Tyler, and a few others also stand out. If you love CCR and Fogerty's voice, I echo the suggestions to listen to 'I Put a Spell on You', but you should also check out 'Long as I Can See the Light'. Another personal favorite that is somewhat unknown but absolutely great is 'Hideaway'. It's kinda their gem that most people have no idea about; Fleetwood Mac - Silver Springs is another song that falls into this category. Beach Boys - Warmth of the Sun another. In each case, I'd recommend listening to these artists' bigger hits first to get full appreciation though.
"Have you Ever Seen the Rain" , and "Looking Out My Back-door" are a couple classics of theirs. For a couple lesser known gems, give "Midnight Special" or "Someday Never Comes" a listen.

Midnight Special, Run through the Jungle, It came out of the Sky are some of my favorites. They even did Cotton Fields Back Home which is very enjoyable. Enjoyed your reactions.
This song has a interesting history of those who have sung it..The First version to be Released & given air play was done by "Gladys Knight & the Pips"..Now, the interesting thing about this is even though Glady's version came first, It was "Recorded" first by Marvin Gaye BUT for some unknown reason, the powers that be at Motown did NOT release his version then...CCR & others versions were eventually even given Air play BUT in summary, it was "Knight & the Pips" version that Scored the First HIT!!!
Such a great song. Gladys Knight and the Pips recorded it first, then Marvin Gaye released it as well. It's a great song, and all versions are great but no one sounds like John Fogerty. CCR always rock!
Great to see a young couple enjoying the wonderful classics. There is good music now but way back when every other song on the radio was a favorite! Such a variety too, loved it then and surely appreciate more today!

The singer John Fogerty Was Sued for Ripping Off John Fogerty yeah not a typo. John Fogerty was accused of plagiarism of a John Fogerty song to which he didn’t own the copyright. That is right he got sued for sounding like himself. The label head initiated a separate $144 million defamation lawsuit that claimed Fogerty portrayed him as “a thief, robber, adulterer, and murderer.” The two sides settled that suit out of court.)
John Fogerty won Fantasy, Inc. v. Fogerty; he then sued to recover legal fees and won Fogerty v. Fantasy. Vanz Kant Danz (Saul Zaentz) but he'll steal your money...
Love John Fogerty, seen him in the eighties the tour after Centerfield forgot the name of the album but his voice was incredibly strong and it was an awesome show 👍 Run through the Jungle is my favorite 🙋 CCR song.

Can't forget Gladys and her Pips. It's such a great song to sing.
"Long As I Can See the Light" is a must, a bit slower and bluesy too. Great number
Up Around the Bend, Who'll Stop the Rain, Green River, The Midnight Special, Proud Mary, Down On the Corner, Travelin Band, Lodi, Run Through the Jungle, All CCR hits
****It feels like forever, I've been waiting for a reactor to cover CCR, thanks guys, I love CCR****
One of those great, timeless standards that "lend themselves" to different interpretations. Gladys Knight, Marvin Gaye --those are the two older great performances.
Everything CCR does is great. I love, love his voice.
, Cow bells...yes...other tunes are Down on the Corner, Joy to the World ( was my dads favorite song).
❤🎵 Love CCR - you can't go wrong with any song - one of my favorites ... Down on the Corner.
SAME!!! Not one bad CCR song!!!
TOTO Hold the line from 1978 , Would be a huge banger That was VERY POPULAR In 1978 When it was Released You 2 will get a LOT of viewers , I PROMISE ,,, Take care
Yes. Down on the corner is so good. Looking out my backdoor. John wrote that one to watch his son dance.
@@garywi.9299 Love that song !!
@@giarogers Hope you don't mind me sharing, but I've had some traumatic brain injury. Hearing these songs is bringing back volumes of memories. Not all good, but they're mine. Have a blessed day.
I’ll always love the Marvin Gaye version, but this rendition is amazing!
They do an amazing version of.." I put a spell on you"
They owned it! Gladys Knight and the Pips and Marvin Gaye have versions. All three are different and unique. Can't remember which was first - maybe Gladys.
Y’all should hear the full, extended version. It’s 9 or 10 minutes in length , and Fogerty will melt your face with lead guitar and vocals.
11 min 10 sec
Thanks Amber and Rob for your reactions from an oldie from down under.
You’ve got to check out the studio version ,11 minutes long🤘🏼
the album version is 11 minutes of amazing jamming... a must-listen!
If I may put in a vote for your next CCR song, let it be "Have You Ever Seen the Rain". It's pure poetry.
Such a great song. Gladys Knight and the Pips recorded it first, then Marvin Gaye released it as well. It's a great song, and all versions are great but no one sounds like John Fogerty. CCR always rock!
"Fortunate Son" is the song you should be doing a reaction on!!!
They did: ua-cam.com/video/iub8CYcE_Sc/v-deo.html
@@adagraves ok...thanks...I obviously missed that!!
Yep. That and Traveling Band.
THey've also done "Born on the Bayou". So far, I think, it's just the three songs.
They did fortunate son
i think this sounds perfect too! and when she blurts it out, it made me feel SO GOOD to know others feel how perfect it is! luv u guys
"Put a candle", and "Some day, never comes"!
Soul like you couldn't believe.
If you remember the California Raisens you'll remember this song LOVE IT
You probably heard the Sunkist raisins singing this.
😂
I can’t hear it withOUT thinking of the California Raisins 🤪
Sun Maid actually, but the ads were on behalf of the California Raisin Advisory Board
Great to see a young couple enjoying the wonderful classics. There is good music now but way back when every other song on the radio was a favorite! Such a variety too, loved it then and surely appreciate more today!
“Travelin’ Band” is a great CCR song.
Love your Chanel ! And yes like others have said the full 11 min version or whatever it is, is pure heaven to your ears.
Here’s one for ya Georgia satellites keep your hands to yourself ! Nice rasp total fun song ! Subscribed!
Maybe grand funk railroad. SoMe kind of wonderful! Pure earphone bliss !👍
The singer John Fogerty Was Sued for Ripping Off John Fogerty
yeah not a typo.
John Fogerty was accused of plagiarism of a John Fogerty song to which he didn’t own the copyright.
That is right he got sued for sounding like himself.
The label head initiated a separate $144 million defamation lawsuit that claimed Fogerty portrayed him as “a thief, robber, adulterer, and murderer.” The two sides settled that suit out of court.)
its still today funny as hell that he got sued for being himself.
John Fogerty won Fantasy, Inc. v. Fogerty; he then sued to recover legal fees and won Fogerty v. Fantasy. Vanz Kant Danz (Saul Zaentz) but he'll steal your money...
Well done guy's 👍👍👍....
I'm a instant subscriber..
Keep up the great picks 🤗
CCR has always been a favorite band of mine. I bought the same album 3 times. In 8-track cassette and CD. 😊
...and digital.
I get excited knowing how much you're gonna like the songs I grew up with.
Love John Fogerty, seen him in the eighties the tour after Centerfield forgot the name of the album but his voice was incredibly strong and it was an awesome show 👍 Run through the Jungle is my favorite 🙋 CCR song.
Dammit Wow! 🤣 my feed has you two up right up top of my UA-cam Playlist AAALL the time!!! Gooooood..... I don't mind... You two are doing so much right.. I'm a 46 year old white guy.... Thank you, and Bless you two!!! Prayer 🙏
Heard it Through the Grape 🍇 Vine was Marvin Gaye's big Hit back in the Late 60's!!
This was the song that the California Raisins sang on the tv commercial for the raisins in Cali. There were 4 Raisins singing and dancing !
You need to check out Ike & Tina Turner's version of PROUD MARY, which is by Credence Clearwater Revival. Try to find the live version on Italian TV from 1970 or 1971. I promise you there will be VOCAL GRIT APPLENTY!
Seems they do so well with covers.... they make up some of my favourites from CCR
Yes!!! Phenomenal live performance
@@alfrancis8 actually John Fogerty wrote Proud Mary. The Turner's are the cover of it.
I’m so happy you kids love our music and can enjoy them, especially in light of the fact that there’s no good music now days. Yes, we love the Gladys and CCR versions. And I think they both were hits. Prayin for you and your baby.
CCR never missed, with John's voice and their guitar vibes. Michael MacDonald from the Doobie Brothers did a gorgeous soulful Motown cover also: ua-cam.com/video/J7sBoJye_yg/v-deo.html
Love CCR! Great reaction, ya'll!
My favorite CCR song. It was one of Marvin Gaye's biggest hits. This version is different and it made me a huge fan of the band. 👏
marvin gaye covered it a ccr original
Marvin Gaye and the Temptations sing it better
@@m8bod645 I thought it was the other way around.
Cosmos Factory , Hell of an Album . 😊
If you love the solo then listen to the extended version which is around 10-12 minutes long. 🤘🤘
There are several great singers who sing this song. CCR is hands down my favorite ( the long version with a lot rocking instrumental)!!!
As for CCR - one of my fave bands. Other songs to check out are:
Bad Moon Rising
Lodi
Down On The Corner (my personal fave)
Have You Ever Seen The Rain?
Don't forget 'Who'll Stop the Rain" "Almost Saturday Night'' Or "Someday Never Comes''.
Let me add...
Midnight Special
Lookin' Out My Back Door
I like how they all seem to be really enjoying the groove, its (at at that stage) still a pleasure for them.
I'm not a huge fan of reactions to songs being covered that were already perfect, but I'm a huge fan of you two!
Oops, forgot the very first CCR song I ever heard!
“Proud Mary” (live):
ua-cam.com/video/MqoAwtgFziA/v-deo.html
They’re is a longer extended version of this song by CCR !
Absolutely the best! Their catalog of incredible music is so deep you could react for weeks. Each song is better than the last!
Speaking of Marvin Gaye, What's going on, is a mandatory listen.
This so is so Poignant at this time and when it was written. Fabulous suggestion ❤️
110% agree!!
"Run Through the Jungle" and "Long As I Can See the Light" are 2 of my favorites. You really can't go wrong with CCR.
It's hard to beat the MARVIN GAYE version or THE GLADY'S KNIGHT AND THE PIPPS version.
I agree, love CCR but this is not my favorite version of this song.
They should do a video listening to all three versions to compare and contrast.
Zapp and Roger had best version
CCR I think was one of the most loved groups. it ever was those guys was the Best they had a lot of great Songs
