Should have also specified more about DP charges. In Upstox it's given that Rs.18 +GST per scrip per day. My understanding is that it will be charged only on the sell-side. The DP charges will be applicable multiple times if we sell partially on different days.
In another case, if we are adding more shares to our holdings the DP charges won't be applicable. Need clarification on this, whether my understanding is correct.

Hi Sharique, this is a nice series you are doing and is very helpful. It says to square off your trade by 3pm, does this apply only for short selling or even for positions? Can we buy with leverage and sell it anytime before market close or it needs to be sold before 3pm (as we don't have full fund)

In upstox , a single buy order or sell order (CO or BO) is split and enterd as multiple trades. That means , for a single buy and sell order , it may not be 20+20=40,it may be more than that since the quantity is split and entered as multiple trades. For example , if you buy 300 quantity of Tata steel , it may not be be entered as single trade , rather it would be split as 25 , 100,5,35....so on ..For every such quantity traded there is brokerages. And the same is with sell side also..
So brokerage might change depending on the scrip and quantity we trade. It may not be always flat 20 +20=40

For trading amount(amount used for buy or sell only) less than 40k, you have to pay 0.16% charges, that is break even point is 100.16 for an equity of 100 rs.
For trading amount near 45k- 0.15%,
Near 50k- 0.14%, near 55k - 0.13 %, and as amount goes up , charges reduces till 0.05%( for very high amount). This is because, after a trading amount of 40k, brokerage charges remain same at 40rs. , per each trading (buy+sell).
