- My Dad and I bought a 2021 GMC Duramax from an auction that a tree fell on top of. In this episode we completely cut this truck apart.. I found out why they salvaged this brand new 2021 GMC Duramax truck.. all the OEM parts are on a national back order!!! We had to figure something else out. I appreciate all the support everyone showed on our last episode, you guys have no idea how much that means! HERES THE BIG QUESTION!!! WHAT SHOULD WE DO TO THIS DURMAX TO FIX IT UP??? I need everyones ideas in the comments please!

As a retired bodyman it's great to see there is some young talent like Garrett that has the skill and pride to do good metal work. It has always been a rare thing, even when I was doing bodywork. There is a "butcher" on every corner but the men that take pride in there metal work is rare as hens teeth. Keep up the great work Garrett.

I still can’t believe they salvaged the vehicle. My 2019 AT4 had a tree fall on the roof as well but I got lucky for no major pillar or hood damage by the angle. But the whole roof, windshield and a dent on the pillar area and I think the bill was just a tad under $6k to my insurance and my truck didn’t even have 10k on it at the time.
Watching that in fast motion, you can watch the metal like it's a living thing, the dents flowing out and back to normal. Insane.
When I was editing it I was like wow that is wild!!! Never seen metal move like that. Garrett is a wild man
Tell your buddy that when cutting stuff such as that roof, buy a 5” Mikita and put a 6” guard on it, then you can use 6” disks which are so much better for cutting things. Once you try it you will never ever go back to a 4” or 5” disks. The 6” disks are still within the rating to use on a 5” grinder so it’s still very safe. And please no matter what, NEVER EVER take guards off grinders. That is the dumbest most dangerous thing one can do. Also never use cutting disks to grind, even if it’s only a second, that is the easiest way to have a disk explode. One last suggestion, please wear a grinding shield when using a grinder plus your safety glasses. I have worked in fabricating all my life (high pressure piping) and never take chances so I have never been hurt. All the best I love your channel so far.

As a former automotive structures engineer, I can say that this guy Garrett knows his stuff well; that’s the best possible way to remove dents rather than using the slide hammer to prevent any further expansion across the damaged area.

Bro, My dad & I own a collision center, so listen when I say, You HAVE to buy a mini belt sander to take care of the spot welds! It is SO MUCH FASTER!!! There’s several great brands, But the 3M and the Cornwell Tools one are my top picks. Trust me, You will thank me later… 👍

Do a starlight head liner on the truck
Keep her clean if she's your daily. Some nice wheels and aggressive tires strip the badges and level her out then get to the motor with a programmer, egr delete, pipes not to crazy on the motor to keep her reliable then do some cool stuff on the interior. Either way can't wait to see what you come up with

I think it would look sick/daily drivable if you just leveled it, some awesome wheels an tires.. maybe custom some kinda bed storage for it, custom lights front am read..
