  • Best: Nathan' Bun Length Beef Hot Dogs - 55 cents/dog
    2. Oscar Mayer Natural Angus Beef Bun Length - 57 cents/dog
    3. Hebrew National Beef Bun Length - 82 cents/dog (expensive!)
    4. Ball Park Beef Bun Length - 61 cents/dog (probably better grilled) Note: I did not try the Ball Park Angus Hot Dogs, I bet they are better.
    5. Bar-S Beef Franks - 39 cents/dog (you get what you pay for)
    6. Oscar Mayer Turkey, Chicken, Pork Bun Length - 31 cents/dog (smell bad cooking, taste bad, threw away the remaining. I hate to waste food, parents born in the depression, but man these dogs are gross!)

      I would do a Google search 'Sabrett's' availability in NC. I also know they can be ordered online but for a price. If you have Boar's Head products sold near you, I discovered they have a great natural casing hot dog, very good dog I recommend.

    Best ever was BEST"S brand Chicago all beef frank, extended family made, until bought by the same corporation the makes Ball Park franks, then dissolved over time!

      That is a bummer, the family probably got 'burned' out on making them or spending the time running the company.

    I would certainly choose any of your top three. There are some others I enjoy that are not available nationwide; Costco, Aldi, and Safeway come to mind. Most of all, I prefer natural casing hot dogs over skinless.

    • @michaelwilsonbarber

      Thanks Trek, the top three I had here are the best in this category, yes agreed! I have been looking for natural casing dogs but I'm having some trouble actually finding some in my area. I do have a few leads and will review if I can find some. I think natural casing dogs are a different category than those without casing.

      @@michaelwilsonbarber Yes Nathan's Colossal hot dogs. I have never seen them at Walmart. I live in the OKC area and I like to shop at a local ten store grocery chain that is 24/7 and they have them. The real grocery store I shop has sales that Walmart will never have. For a little over a month they had fours brands of the shank portion hams for 99¢ per pound. Full time price slabs of ribs $1.28 per pound, baby back $1.98 per pound. They sell things in the store Walmart will never have. I don't know why and for what but they have gallons of pickle juice on the shelf. I think before the pandemic Sam's might had Nathan's Colossal dogs. Its a two pound pack with 8 hotdogs. The other brand at Sam's I think is their own brand and I don't like or buy them. Google Nathan's Colossal and you will see them.

    that is my favorite the Oscar Mayer angus it has great taste and convenience I buy them on sale for 3 dollars a pack of 8 and freeze them. The Nathans was not as tasty to me i fry them in a pan.

    • @michaelwilsonbarber
      @michaelwilsonbarber  24 дні тому +1

      Ranger, I think cooking method affects how they come out for sure. I think I still would give a slight edge to Nathan's in taste profile but the OM Angus size and texture might be better! I truly discovered the OM Angus accidentally, I meant to buy just regular beef bun length OM but grabbed these Angus ones and man, I was surprised how good they are. I don't know who's running OM but I think they have too many different hot dog products and maybe should focus on just making good quality ones at a good price and discontinue the crappy ones that make you want to avoid the brand all together.
