Great job Andy! I'm getting calls even from Alliston, ON on whether building Garden homes is permitted there. Qualifying financially is obviously one of the most important concerns for my clients but, if yes, the price of building a garden or laneway suite is, for most, the better alternative than buying a condo - especially when considering prices for like-sized units.
Hi Mr Tran Really appreciate your assistance with safe, affordable dwellings. A discussion involving the plumbing hurdles and how having a lane in the back modifies the regs would be helpful to constituents. Regards
This was insightful and useful. As a Toronto resident interested in ADU's, and who's participated in City surveys on this... Thank you for offering some great ideas, and specific details that matter. ✌️
Thank you for the amazing video. 3 quick follow up. 1. If back yard is directly back on to highway (essentially the end of back yard is the highway sound proofing wall, is it still possible to build a garden suite if setback all around is at least 1.5 meters? 2. 45 meter travel from street to garden suite applies to longest distance if street curb is bent? And is it from street curb to the very front of the garden suite? 3. If garden suite is more than 7.5 metre away from the main house, could the 6 meter height garden suite have basement as well? (You mentioned 6 metre 2 floor garden suite could be 1300 square feet. So i'm wondering can one have a second floor and a basement which would have more than 1300 square feet in size). You are the leader in this exciting area and thank you so much for your informative videos!
Could I legally increase square footage as well as add a second story to my existing garage I wish to convert into a garden suite without being subjected to setbacks?
@suiteadditions What are the chances of undertaking a project in Toronto (North York) if we need more than 147ft from garden suite to street which wouldn't clear the evacuation bylaw? I'm looking into a project but that seems to be the biggest barrier based on this super informative video. Thanks!
I truly appreciate this video and I’m interested in moving to Toronto. In the move I’m looking to purchasing a property possibly in the M4L 2l1 , M4M 2Z4 or L3RG5 area. I’m so excited and interested in Laneway and or Garden-suite. I’d like to have more information
I tried to get a free copy o the Garden suite but i never received it. I am interested in building a suite on my property but don't know how to tackle it
government buildings are empty at moment, everything slows to a crawl. If you are in a hurry forget it. I highly doubt that the inspectors and the plan examiners are debriefed properly on this issue. Expect to hold their hands throughout the whole process.
We have researched this extensively since the announcement was made, but are discouraged by the cost. Even with the 50k from the city, it doesn't appear to be an affordable option. Otherwise, we would love to build one, and have confirmed that one can be built in our backyard. Your videos are very informative. Thanks for all the great information,
When is the Rockefellers moving in 😂😂😂, your absolutely owned by the owners of the money, it's systemically groomed, some see it, other, blind as a bat.

Thanks Marco! Yes it's happening everywhere!
Great executive summary on garden suites. Look forward to future clips on garden suites in other jurisdictions also.
Thank you! We have Brantford and Hamilton completed and will do Kitchener next.

Thank yiu. You are still required to connect plumbing and drains to the front of the property.

Easiest thing to do is go to www.SuiteAdditions.com/gardensuites/Toronto and we can do a free feasibility report for you.

Do you know the status on allowability of these in Durham? Specifically Pickering? - Thanks!
Sorry I don't think allowed as 3rd unit yet in Pickering...hopefully soon!

Make sure to watch all our videos and google Toronto garden suites for more info from the city!
Hi Andy. Can you address the fire Hydrant maximum distance from the front yard . What uf the Hydrant is further than 45 meters?
You may need a sprinkler system
Thank you for the video. What if it’s a single family house in an industrial zone (purple zone)?
That's very unique. I haven't come across that. You should check at map.toronto.ca or give the city a call.
Thank you for the info!
hi, can it be built at a 35'x143' lot? with an existing bungalow?
Yes that is possible
How high can the basement ceiling be for the garden suite? 8ft, 9 ft?
Are the specifications the same for Durham?
Unfortunately each municipality is different
How about sewage.....lines?
You will need to connect it to the main house
I tried to get a free copy o the Garden suite but i never received it. I am interested in building a suite on my property but don't know how to tackle it
I need one
Very good video! Do you have one like this for Hamilton?
Thanks! Yes we do. ua-cam.com/video/B70V2MjUwWI/v-deo.html
Do you have one for Markham?
Unfortunately Markham does not allow them yet
Mine just got approved.

Yes we've noticed the permit process is much slower these days
How much a one room garden suite approximate price?

My pleasure. The income generated typically covers the cost of financing the construction through a HELOC. Best of luck!
i use to live in a garden home
"Trono"....something tells me you're a long time resident of the city. :)
Do you build Garden Suites in Woodbridge?
Unfortunately not at the moment
@@suiteadditions thank you...
👍
The owners of your legal tender is the rules and regulations. Squirrels don't pay rent and the experts are baffled 😂

@Russ learn to shut your mouth in ignorance before someone does it for you.
