Guys I need help. And the videos ain’t helpin. I’m gonna trade in my Halon32 for the VXR and I’ve tested them both. I can’t freakin decide. It’s down to a coin toss at this point cuz they both shoot awesome
@@PMOUTDOORS24 I’m a 28 and I got a few stands and a few spots I hunt from the ground. If I go to my neighbors 300 acres there’s no tree stands allowed. I’ve gotten some kills on the ground out there
@@voxpopuli905 both bows are a smaller ata, but if you can shoot the smaller one it may be better for your blind and treat and sits. Personally, if you shoot to 80 plus yards with these bows your probably going to notice one of the bows handles and aims better, my guess would be the 31 in that realm.
Hi mate im torn between the pse evo nxt 31 and the vxr 28 .the pse is $400 cheaper here in Australia than the vxr wich would you recommend for launching 650gr+ arrows? The pse seems to be more configurable but slower is that right ?
Do you think the 31 is going to be better at say 60+? I like the shorter for treestand but I've never had a problem shooting my 33 in turbo. I can take a 60 plus shot more often than one would think. Want to be best suited for it.
Typically longer ata will be better for longer shots, especially if you’re a longer draw. If you’re a shorter draw guy I think you would still benefit from a longer ata, however it won’t be as noticeable.
Typically a longer ATA bow will be a more steady and shootable bow. You should notice the holding and leveling of the bow is just a little easier with the 31.5
That’s a tough one. I like the brace height on the Mathews a tad bit more, but the evoke has been a great bow and I like the draw cycle and valley more
If you buy this bow, do your self a favor and order you a better set strings and cables. The zebra strings that they come with are absolute garbage! I got a set of gas strings coming next week!
Seems that this year Mathews has the speed bows, the VXR rae around 9 fps faster than the PSE Carbon Stealth Mach 1, which is a hair faster than the Hoyt Axius/RX-4 Ultra. With the lighter arrows the VXR are ~18 fps faster than the Bowtech Revolt, but as the weigth of the arrows goes up that advantage falls, and is about 10 fps with the 640 grain arrow. So Mathews could be the choice for people wanting speed and silent/quietness, the Mach 1 for the ones wanting ligth weigths while having a fast bow, and Bowtech and Elite for the ones wanting adjustability and fine tuning that don't have a bow press at hand.
Best thing to do would be to shoot both and see which is best for you. The bows are very different from each other. The axius ultra me be a better platform for target archery.
@@PMOUTDOORS24 absolutely!! I've always been a fan of Mathews, looking into the Mathews vertix, just been waiting to get the opportunity to shoot one. I truly take your knowledge seriously and have learned a lot.
I like ur videos for sure but I’d like to see people get away from recommending 28” ata bows specifically for tree stand or blind I’ve been shooting my traverse and black 5 from the saddle 25-30 ft up a tree and in a blind just fine It’s all what u make it. The longer bows are just as capable of those applications.
Agreed to a point lots of ground blind don’t accommodate a long ata bow. I have plenty of friends shooting 33”+ ata out of trees so it’s all about user preferences 👊
Going back and shooting the 28 now. Treestand and ground blind hunt more then anything do if it shoots as good as most of these reviews that's what I'm going with. I like the shorter bows anyways.
They both look top heavy as hell. The new colors are great though. Count me out on Mathews until they develop a different cam system. I hate the draw cycle of the Concentric cams.
So we have the newest most advanced rest of all time on the 28, and the most outdated piece of junk rest on the 31.5. Come on man. Haha. Good video tho. Prob switching back to Mathews first time since the DXT.
I just picked up the 28 5 days ago. 29” and 72# and it’s absolutely amazing! Shooting the axis 5mm 340s and hands down best hunting setup I’ve ever shot!
Watch out saying you like a light bow. The heavy bow police will get you. I wish they weight their advertised weight. Local shop weigh them 28 was 4.66 and 31.5 was 4.86 bare bows.
Garrett Weaver maybe that’s something you can add to your reviews, actually weighing the bows cause some brands seem to be off a fair bit from as advertised.

It’s a tad bit slower yes, but it’s going to be nicer drawing and more adjustable

Is string angle ok for 28" DL with 31,5 model ? Can you touch your nose without beep your head down?
You are making this tough to decide which brand I wanna shoot next year! Gonna have to go test shoot them all my self. Great videos keep them up
Lol perfect! Thanks man 👊
What did you mean by he 31.5 providing better shootability? Would someone with a 27.5 inch draw see those benefits?
Typically a longer ATA bow will be a more steady and shootable bow. You should notice the holding and leveling of the bow is just a little easier with the 31.5
@@PMOUTDOORS24 With these benefits in mind, would it still not make sense for someone with a 26.5 DL to go with the 31.5?
What stabilizer would you run on this? If i remember a couple years ago you mentioned using Spider stabilizers. Is that what you still use/recommend?
I’m still running my spider 10” tracker which I really like. You have a good memory!
I love the arrow weights, you always have what I need!! Great video as always

Cool video, what’s that release you’re shooting?
It’s the short and sweet
@@PMOUTDOORS24 thanks
What other 2020 bows are coming up on reviews, the new Elite?
If I can get my hands on one, if like to do the primes as well
How does the valley compare to the Hoyt RX3/4
Do the switch weight come with bow or are they a separate purchase?
Have you shot it with the 75lbs mods?
I haven’t
Great video Garrett!
Thanks my lady
I need honest opinion between vxr 31,5 vs axius ultra , what is more shooteble for 3d , not hunting. I need nice draw and stability.
Best thing to do would be to shoot both and see which is best for you. The bows are very different from each other. The axius ultra me be a better platform for target archery.
I ended up buying the 28
Every dealer I have talked with said the price is the same for the vxr28 and the 31.5
That’s good to know. The msrp is 100$ more on the 31.5
Love the videos, keep them coming.
Always enjoy your videos, well done on your input. I'm curious, will Waldron's be carrying Mathews?
Yes they have them in stock
@@PMOUTDOORS24 that's great!! Thank you so much. I don't go to the burg very often, at least now I have a reason. Appreciate the response.

I didn’t really notice it when I was shooting I know the halons were too heavy for sure

How how much more is the string angle of the 28 over the vertix or are they similar?
similar, I’d have to shoot both side by side to really give a better comparison

Hows the draw lengths? Mathews has always ran long
They seem to be closer to actual length.
@@PMOUTDOORS24 thx for the response. Would u mind measuring? That's my one issue with Mathews
I cant remember what video I saw it on, but the individual said real measurments was about 1/16 inch long.
hall0341 that sounds about right, seems like the last years model or might have been the year before the draw length were getting closer to spec
Isn't the purpose of a Mathew's bow for hunting (from a treestand or a blind)? Lol
Not all of them but they do cater to the Cater to the eastern whitetail crowds.

I shoot the triax still 🔥🔥🔥
