For what it’s worth.. I’ll preface this comment by saying I’ve been a diehard Hoyt guy for 5+ years now. I went to my local Scheels tonight to shoot the VXR and RX3 side by side. I shot the VXR first and that was my mistake. This bow is stupid quiet, like a mouse fart quiet. The Hoyt sounded like a rifle going off compared to it. The hand shock is absolutely none on the VXR where the Hoyt has some noticeable post shot vibration. I was able to anchor with the VXR with ease, but I had to hunker down quite a bit with the RX3. The only real area the RX3 shined was draw cycle. I felt it didn’t stack weight like the VXR. But that’s minor. Conclusion: I’ll be ordered a VXR 31.5 in ambush green next month. 👍🏻
Will Films I’ve been a die hard Hoyt fan for over 10 years now. Matthews has definitely upped their game. Needless to say after shooting the VXR I plan on buying one myself. That bow is sweet
Glenn Prince Indeed it is. I’ve always refrained from “bow bashing” like I see many other guys do. I think technology in archery has somewhat plateaued in the last 5 years and regardless of brand, I think any bow on the market today is capable of getting the job done. It’s just a matter of finding the subtle differences between each that you like/dislike. I just posted a VXR 31.5 Review video (from the perspective of a Hoyt guy) give it a watch if you can 👍🏻
Was that a big mouse or a little mouse either way that's told me I'm tired of nosey bows even my carbon stealth it's not that quiet with the cable system... I want Mouse fart quiet
Great review. I like how you now shoot the bow while the camera is sideways and not behind you, that way we can see the shot characteristics at the moment of release. Just started following you, I think your videos are top notch. Keep up the great work.
Am Canadian and call his shop for advice on this bow and one other.very helpful and gave me the convenience to spend $300 extra for the VXR. With Black Friday sale it worked out . Thanks for your help. Living on a island has its drawbacks.
I’m not a Matthews guy, never have been. Out of all the 2020 bows I shot. The vxr is the best hands down. It’s the only bow I could feel a noticeable enough difference between it and my 2013 obsession. Very quiet, I didn’t know I was drawing a 70lb bow .... excellent. Kudos to Matthews. It’s rare I shoot a new bow from year to year and go wow . This one made me go wow
I love the comments about upgrades and changes from prior year. I hate the dudes that complain about how small the change was. Don’t buy it then! I bought a Vertix last year and love it. The changes are subtle enough that I can’t justify the change but like you said, it’s quite different than a Heli M or a Z7. Love your content and info man! Keep up the good work!
BEST INFO OUT! Someone who actually knows what he is talking about and how such a small difference can creat such a different bow, feel, etc. Thanks, for the truth!
just getting back in to archery and i bought this as my ONE ALL, BE ALL bow. this bow is insane, i tried a few at my local shop and just kept coming back to the VXR, so as a beginner in the compound bow scene, this bow is a very solid choice. i went all out with telescopic stabilizer, 5 pin adjustable sight, 5 arrow holder in an all black finish. the draw is extremely smooth, the valley is not too deep, and i think in the back country this is going to be able to take a beating cause i am not easy on my gear. enjoy the VXR!
After watching your reviews, I noticed that the VXR performs about 10-12 feet per second faster at 28 inches compared to the other bows at 28. This bow and the VXR 28 are a good option for short draw guys, like myself.
I noticed that. In this video, assuming 20 grains on the string, it wasn't really making IBO with the 30" draw. But with the 28" draw, it was right at or even over IBO. That's assuming the 28" is actually 28" but my Triax is pretty close so this might be as well.
looking at buying either the Hoyt axius alpha or the Matthews VXR 28 can't wait to see the review on those. thanks for the quality reviews so far really enjoyed them
I made it to the shop and got to shoot a VXR and the #2 cam hoyt rx-4. I really liked both bows. I was my suprized by the rx-4. I went to the shop feeling like I only wanted a 28 VXR. I like a short bow. The hoyt really suprized me how short it really was. I was just as small as the VXR side by side. The Mathews was still top heavy. I left the shop in love with the Hoyt rx-4.. really hope you get a chance to review the #2 cam on the alpha. 28" 70# number 2 cam. I now it's not a hug different but I'd love to see just what the difference is. My shop only had one #2 cam. They have more coming. Have a great week dude.
Great review! Really liked what you had to say toward the end of the video regarding innovation in compound bow design and how some folks react to what they see each year from bow manufacturers. 👍
Just bought one to finally replace my Alphamax 32. The Hoyt treated me well, but like you said I have been hunting that bow for roughly a decade. Could not be happier with my choice!
Spot on review! I went to the local bow shop today and shot the VXR 31.5 and it is a fine shooting bow. Easy to draw, quiet, and dead in the hand when shot. I am in the market to upgrade from my Chill X and the VXR is it.
Good review man. First time watching your channel. That bow looks great and appears to perform as good as it looks.... really like the new color they offer. I would pick one up if I didn’t buy the Vertix last year.
You can tell how quite the bow is! Holy smokes! I commented on Whitetail Habitat Solutions vid on the VXR 28 about how quite the bow was and he said it was the most quite bow Mathews ever made.
Old video, I’m looking to buy a used flagship for my first good bow. I’m really considering this. Seems like a good Axle to axle for hunting and 3d archery.
Cracked up when you mentioned the mq1, that is what I'm still using. You also hit the nail on the head as to why I'm willing to spend 1200 on a new bow
Shooting the VXR 31.5 70# 28.5 in. With 515 gn. Axis 260s. Didn't shoot it through a chrono, but happy to see the test bow shoot 509 grains at 265 fps at 28 inches.
Dope review. To me the upgrades for 2020 are huge. The 31.5 has everything I wished the traverse did. I’m getting one and shooting it all year at 55# then 70 for wapiti. I’m exited af
@Boxing 101 does it really hold that much more steady? I just shot my biggest buck with my Vertix and hate to trade but dang if this bow is not tempting....gonna shoot it forsure....
Great review. Loving mine, just came from the Vertix mainly because I was able to get the 31" draw length I need. Great bow.. hard to believe they could improve on the Vertix but they did.
I've been shooting PSE and have been on staff for 30 years in some form or another.. I shoot a 2019 carbon stealth and they're just not quiet...Great bow but not quier...on another review somebody said the VXR was Mouse fart quiet and you said they were stupid quiet that sells me on this bow especially with the speeds you're getting... Even though I can buy a stealth pretty much for close to half price I'm going to pay a little more and buy this bow... for me I cannot stress how much a quiet bow means whether you shoot a whitetail buck at 45 yards or an antelope buck.. for those of us that hunt a lot know they can jump the string swirl or spin that fast.. the difference between a good shot and a bad shot or a complete miss...great job Matthews...I'm jumping ship...Matty
Awesome video 👍👌 I have watched this a dozen times or more. Well my local shop finally got one of these in and it balances nicely. There is a slight bit of vibration, not much but it's still there definitely less vibration than the Traverse or the vertix. It holds good and is not as top heavy as the Traverse. It is smooth not as smooth as the Traverse, much better than the traix or vertix. The grip is money just like the Traverse and vertix. Just hate the $#it green color (it's the only color the shop is stocking 4 months out for a different color).
When going to the 75lb mods you have to take into consideration the arrow spine will have to go up as well. I’ve shot a 80lb bow since 2012 and the only down side is having to run at the bare minimum spine of 300 and at least a 250 spine if you want to load the front up.
Hey boss! Quick question, is 80# a huge difference from 70# bows? I’ve shot 70 my whole life but thought about going to 80! All this talk about shoulder wear has me weary, but I often shoot 50-70 arrows a session without any noticeable fatigue
Triston Starling it’s a noticeable difference. But the more you shoot the easier it seems. Just like when you first started shooting at 70lbs. The biggest difference comes with kinetic energy. I have 2 different arrow weights, one is 415 grains and my bow shoots it 334 FPS the other is 585 grains and my bow shoots that one 289 FPS.
@Boxing 101 I personally haven't been able to shoot anything but PSE as the other brands don't get stocked for women with shorter draw lengths and less poundage. Had two places say, "oh you can try it we'll take it down as far as it will go (53lbs and 28 draw), and I'll help you pull it". Seriously??!! I couldn't say I hated Mathews or Hoyt or Elite... the 3 I tried. I just couldn't feel the darned thing in its entirety myself. PSE does make some great bows and I personally enjoyed learning on my Chaos. The back wall was spongy but over all it was a good little bow to begin the basics on. Shot true, stayed tuned, and lasted 3 years. At the time I wasn't sure if I wanted to jump into hunting or target only. Turns out it did ok for both, though I'd definitely say it was a hunting blow on the lean. I've been trying for months to find someone to help a gal out... but I guess only men do archery!!?? Puh! It's surprising how nonexistent women are on UA-cam for archery as well. There's a few, but mostly just competition stuff. I haven't found a serious female youtuber archer who reviews and talks about the art and finesse of hunting/ target shooting yet. Seems like most are just barbie bow-babes. (No offense) but I'm serious about this and it's sad when I can't get anyone to take me serious just because I'm a woman who needs a bow set up at 40lbs. The aim is to get stronger but gosh I'd like to get the bow I want to go forward on. Makes me laugh, I even say my budget (which is in line with competition shell out) and even that doesn't budge these NM archery tech/ sales guys. Sorry for the rant... I'd LOVE to try ANY Mathews... except a child's. I'll keep trying but gosh it's depressing. I mean is it really offensive to the archery world for women to shoot bows? Carry bows that they can try? I guess I figured after Hunger games and that rage the spike in women's interest in it (and there was) would have allowed for better selection in stores by now. I love this channel, so far he's the only one who's responded to me and tried to help me at least as much as he can. I've put out over 200 inquiries on chat threads and UA-cam channels. My husband just got his Elite Kure... he ended up ordering all we'd need to set it up so I could try it. It will likely be next year before I've been able to try the ones I'm interested in, compare, and decide. Maybe longer... or never...I can't buy a bow to try it. I'm hoping someone out there will read these rants and give me some advise as to where we could go. We're willing to travel up to 200 miles for a good recommendation. So far... nothing. Seems this problem is in every archery shop within that distance of me. Like I said I'm serious, this the rant and I'll keep knocking until some door opens. Until then me and my Chaos will just keep shooting...lol. I'm not settling for something less than I'm looking for with my budget. Too much money to spend on a bow to settle on. Thanks for your response, I truly hope to try this bow in the 28 axel range or 31...I like what I see from Mathews.
I;m in the "haven't bought a bow in over decade" camp. I Was waiting until the 2020 bows came out so I could get a Traverse for a bit less money. Now I want a VXR! LOL.
I just bought this yesterday and shot for over an hour. Definitely the smoothest thing you can get on the market. Your draw just hurts my shoulder watching it
I say in the video like 3 times that I'm left handed, drawing a right handed 70lb bow haha. Easier with the low shoulder than coming over the top with my off hand
I just bought one but you are scaring me. At 2:43 you mention getting 60lb limbs? Was that a typo? I thought the mods change the weight that there are no limbs based on poundage.?
Great Review, gave me some things to consider. I went to my local shop and shot about 4 or 5 bows. I was torn between the NXT 33 and the and the 31.5 VXR. Man that PSE draw is very smooth but I ended up going with the VXR. It was so quiet and fast. I loaded it up with my HHA Kingpin, Hamskea Hybrid Hunter Pro, TORX front and rear stab. This thing is smacking, it's quiet and wicked fast. I have a lightly used The Block target and this thing is punching through it and no I'm not shooting the exact same point. I went with the 31.5 over the 28 just for the string angle, I have a 30 inch draw and the 28 angle was just a little too aggressive for me. Again thank you.
Luke Noble so the bow itself I ended paying right at $950. Because I bought the bow from the store a lot of times shops will discount your accessories which they did for me. So the front and rear stab was about $150, the HHA they couldn’t work too much on the price so it was right at $200. The rest luckily was an open package so I got it for a really good price of $125 normally $170+. I should have bought a quiver while I was there but kind forgot like a dope. Ended up ordering a tight spot from another shop and I’m still waiting on it to come in. Mathews also has a great tripod stand that mounts onto your front limp pocket which works amazing and your bottom cam doesn’t contact the ground. Part of the reason I did this set up is so I could swap the mods. I shoot 29.5 draw and 75lbs for deer/elk then I switch the mods on the Mathews and the wheel on the HHA to 65 pounds for spring turkey. Kinda like having two bows. Sorry if that was more than you asked for and I hope I answered your question. I love the bow totally worth it to me.
Realize you shoot a Matthews, but would be curious of your thoughts/comparisons between the VXR and the PSE NXT bows? I would even like to see a comparison video. I am a 28" draw 70-75 lbs. and would love to hear your thoughts. Hold, draw, balance, accuracy, and speed. A comparison video would even be welcome, if you do bow comparisons.?.?
@Boxing 101 That is a matter of opinion. The bow is no more faster. I shoot a 70 lb maxed at 72 lb. 28'' draw speeds of 306-310. with 390 gr. - 424 gr. quarter away shots, arrow blows through back of ribs through opposite front shoulder with a mechanical nap 100 gr. trivex head and a Bloodline arrow with 50gr inserts . Cut at 28.5'' = 424 gr.. What else would I need? Maybe in a couple years I may upgrade. Replace my back up bow Halon 6, with my Triax.
@Rusty Shackleford i really like the VXR 31.5 literally just shot one Saturday at an archery shop about 30mi from the house... i am very eager too buy it, but.... id wait a year for a VXR 33, VXR 33.5 or VXR 34. I think this 340+ fps thing, or the whole "I need a 350fps bow" is way, way way over blown
@Rusty Shackleford the Traverse is a nice bow, if it was me, i wouldnt trade in a Traverse and 300-400 dollars for the small gains in performance you'd get...
Does Mathews still do their own trade show? They ever put out something else around ATA show time? A 7” brace height one of these would be pretty sweet.
I shot this version vxr and the rx4 ultra. Needless to say I fell in love with the ultra and new cams. The Mathews I shot at 70 and 30". And for some reason the Hoyt on 30" was actually a little under 29 3/4" on draw board. So I shot it at 30.5" with #3 cams and it was buttery smooth the mathews to me was a little more dead in the hand after shot but not much difference in the two. But the new cams on that rx4 ultra was awesome to me and I've been a mathews guy the last couple years. Wasn't to worried about losing much speed I hunt with over 500 grain arrows. Both were quite to me as well
Inside Out Precision I never shot the rx3's.I'd bought a halon 32 and triax. So didn't see the need in getting the Vertix really only difference to me was the switch weight which is cool though!Wound up selling my triax. But was wanting a new one this year and it surprised me how much I like the Hoyt. I didn't like the rx1's at all the draw was not near as smooth as the other bows or the mathews to me on the rx1. But nonetheless I love em all to I've had quite a few different brands all the top bows now are so close it's just what feels best to the you!
The Traverse was going to be my next bow...was! To prevent a potential injury to yourself, I reckon you should order at least one left handed bow you intend to review. You know...just so you can test the bow for your comfort snd safety.
I just can't give up my ol bowtech invasion cpx. I like a short bow with a good brace hight. It's 30" ATA with a 7" brace hight and ibo is 345 and it's under 4lbs. Every new bow out is slower IBO or close to the same but with a 6" brace hight and over 4lbs Until a company comes out with something amazing then I'm staying put. I would have loved to see the vxc 28 with a 7" brace. That would of peeked my interest in getting a new bow and I'm not a Mathews fan at all but I would of been tempted if that bow had a longer brace than 6".
Amazing video and review! A lot of good information, and very easy to understand, even tho we dont speak english! Im about to order one and we dont have pro shops here in Brazil to test it. My draw lenght is 29.5. Should I get the 29''? I've heard that mathews bows draw lenght run longer and this is going to be my first one! Thanks and keep doing the great job!
GREAT VIDEO!! i'm ordering monday here on the east coast. left handed.. i heard people are having a hard time mounting the hamskea hunter pro trinity in the burger hole... only on left handed bows? asking if you found any issues... and do all the switch weight mods come with the bow? extra?
@@joc6117 i was reading on forums mates where having a hard time with their burger hole wasn't tapped all the way through or something like that....so they needed a smaller bolt
Thanks for your bow reviews. I'm debating between a VXR 31.5 and a Traverse. I spot and stalk antelope, deer, and elk in Idaho. I am still fairly new to hunting (3rd year) and it's hard for me to tell much difference when shooting these bows bare at 10 yds. Perhaps the Traverse is a little louder with a bit of a twang? Or could that be the wicked threads vs zebras? 29" DL. 70# DW. 85%. I'd appreciate your biased opinion on which one you'd choose and why. Thank you
I know I'm kinda late to the party, but have a question about the string angle. I have a 29.75 draw length, and I really like this bow., but am unable to touch my nose to the string. I do find especially 40 yards and out, I find my head searching sometimes to line everything up. Do you feel its something I just need to get use too or maybe another solution? Thanks.
Of the reviews on the VXR, yours is by far, the best. If you can, I have a Mathews Switchback, that I purchased in 2004. Just killed a mule deer at 43 yards. Perfect shot. Down & dead within 10 seconds. Any chance, if you know, the comparison of the two bows. I shoot at 62 lbs and a draw of 28.5 inches. Thanks
The switchback was our best selling bow of all time before the Vertix, it's still a great bow for being 15 yrs old. But what you'll gain is about 20-25fps, less hand shock, and even more quiet.
@@InsideOutPrecision you mentioned the v x r stacks in the draw a little bit at 30 inch draw. How does it compare or stack at 28 inch draw.just looking for some advice. On how it draws at 28 v r s 3o inches.
You mentioned late in this video that the Traverse was still included in their 2020 bows. Any idea where I could find one new? I shot one in 2019 but ended up buying a different bow since the price was slashed by $300 - $400 during pre season sale. I love that bow but can't get the Traverse out of my head.
Awesome review, I'm on the fence between this and the Axius Ultra. Im 6'5 and have a 31 inch draw, so I'd be concerned about the string angle. I'd like to not have to move my face into the string to get it into my nose, but not sure I buy the hype that the shorter ATA Mathews shoots the same as a 34-35 inch ATA bow
Well the ultra will be more forgiving due to its larger brace height, and the string angle won't be as severe at your draw length. I'd recommend just shooting them both and seeing which you prefer
based on this review I purchased a Mathews VXR 31.5. Currently my set up is a spot hog fast eddie sight, hamskea hybrid hunter pro rest. Bow is set at 29" draw @ 63 lbs. I would appreciate any suggestions on 3D and Hunting arrows for this Bow. Former bow was/is a Mathews HTR no cam. Thanks for the great reviews.
Is it practical/reasonable to have an off-season draw weight of around 60lbs for high rep practice and switch mods to 75lbs for hunting season (assuming new arrows and sight positions)? I look forward to visiting you and getting whatever Mathews has for 2021.
Great Review as always! In you opinion, What would be a better Hunting/3D bow. VXR31.5, Traverse or PSE EVO NXT 33? Just curious about your thoughts. Is the VXR 31.5 a better shooter than a Traverse in you opinion. I'm looking for a new 3D/backup hunting bow to compliment my RX3 Turbo and RPM360.
I have one but I'm not overly impressed with it, I still like my Vertix better because I shoot the same arrow with both and I get 8 fps faster with my Vertix and its very quite and as stable as the VXR. The only thing I like better is the design of the riser.
Would dealers charge extra for tuning the bow to the shooter, meaning the shooter picks the arrows, then the shop adjusts top-hats to adjust for left or right tears?
Love your videos. Have a question about the 2020 Mathews VXR 31.5 Bow. What exactly do you get in the box. Is the integrated rest included and the mods to adjust the Draw weight. Also I saw an unboxing and it had a Mathews hat included. Just want to know what is in the box so I am not missing anything. Thanks........
I like the traverse all around but I might be biased due to having a long draw length. Theoretically the traverse would balence better due to the longer ata but they are both engineered so well that it is very close. I recommend shooting both and maybe a vertix and get what shoots the best for you.
Love your videos brotha👍🏻 Just got a chrono for Christmas.. what’s the best lighting in your opinion for this things that you found for the most accurate reading. I tested my today outside cloudy day with my VXR 31.5, 75lb mods, 29.5” draw, Easton 300 spine 5mm axis weighing at 453 grains and got 293 consistently. Sound about right? Thanks👊🏻🇺🇸
The TRX 36 is longer while weighting 0.02 pounds more; yes, is more expensive but will be on podiums, for sure, and the 31.5" is already $100 more than the 28". The VRX uses 11 different draw lenght modules in two let offs and four weigth peaks, so that's 88 different modules, plus you need a bow press to adjust the top hats if cam lean appears. On the other hand, both the new Bowtechs and Elites lets you to fix cam lean and draw length with an allen key (and other brands as Prime, Bear andExpedition have now adjustable dl). You can add to that list also APA. So yeah, this year PS3, Hoyt and Mathews have been extremely conservative, whereas other brands did a ton of improvements in tech related to ease of tunning and quality of life. I say this as an archer which lacks a bow press and has the closest bow proshop ~400 Km away.
Being said that, seems that Mathews has the fastes hunting bows this year, which at heavy arrows have around ~8 fps advantage above Hoyt's RX-4 and Axius (with heavy arrowsm they are paired at lighter ones), very dead in hand and silent but really heavy to draw; the PSE Carbon Stealth Mach 1 is slighly behind in speed, but weights 1 pound less and enhanced a lot its grip ergonomics while being quieter and deader than previous models. The Elite Kure is ~12 fps slower than the VXR but easier to draw and very versatile to tune (no need to buy mods or using a bow press); the Bowtech's Revolt/Revolt X in comfort mode are ~18 fps slower than the VXR but lighter to draw and now very dead/silent thanx to the parallel limb placement and as with the Kure, very easy to tune and adjust without a bow press or the need to buy anything. Wold like to see Prime's Black Series in more speed test to figure their performance.
For hunting out west, spot and stalk mostly, shooting some longer distances...would you choose the Traverse or the VXR??? Was 100% sold on the Traverse but this review has me questioning that now!
Limb driven rests stay up at least 3x as long as a cable driven rest. The whole point of a rest is to support the arrow as long as possible, and cable driven rests drop after the first 6-8". I've hunted incredibly brushy country and never had an issue with hooking or cutting the para-cord. Your quiver covers/guards it completely. Also I've seen countless QAD and RipCords fail, where I've only seen a handful of limb driven rest fail over the years. There's actually a lot more moving parts in a cable driven rest than a limb driven, and they're much harder to if something break.
How do u think it compares to the traverse on how well it holds and shoots I have the traverse but I'm thinking of getting one of these instead but what's your thoughts with the riser being longer and all just curious it looks like the riser is more reflexed I think Is the word I'm looking for
It holds every bit as well as the traverse in my opinion, but the traverse has over a half inch longer brace height, making it more forgiving on the shots where you don't do your part as well as you should. The shorter brace height is result of the more reflexed riser.
Best VXR review, no contest. 👍🏻
For what it’s worth.. I’ll preface this comment by saying I’ve been a diehard Hoyt guy for 5+ years now.

I want Mouse fart quiet
Best bow reviews on UA-cam hands down. 👍
I can hear that loose field tip when you're loading the arrow and it drives me craaaazzzyyyyy!!!!!
That's what I thought too! I didn't hear it at the shot though???
Splendid review! Thanks for talking sense through 22 minutes!

Stoked u put this out. I’ve seen some wild variances in speed and specs and figured u would give it straight
I love the comments about upgrades and changes from prior year. I hate the dudes that complain about how small the change was. Don’t buy it then! I bought a Vertix last year and love it. Just ordered one for Christmas. Super excited had to shoot right hand at the bow shop now waiting for my left hand model with orange and black strings
BEST INFO OUT! Someone who actually knows what he is talking about and how such a small difference can creat such a different bow, feel, etc. Thanks, for the truth!
First, loving the reviews on the new bows.
just getting back in to archery and i bought this as my ONE ALL, BE ALL bow. this bow is insane, i tried a few at my local shop and just kept coming back to the VXR, so as a beginner in the compound bow scene, this bow is a very solid choice. i went all out with telescopic stabilizer, 5 pin adjustable sight, 5 arrow holder in an all black finish. the draw is extremely smooth, the valley is not too deep, and i think in the back country this is going to be able to take a beating cause i am not easy on my gear. enjoy the VXR!
Y’all know your shit!! Thats why we love your videos, keep em coming.
looking at buying either the Hoyt axius alpha or the Matthews VXR 28 can't wait to see the review on those.
thanks for the quality reviews so far really enjoyed them
Love this review. I’ve actually watched it at least 10 times now.
Haha nice!
Did ya get one?
@@voxpopuli905 yeah I did
@@glennprince9983 me too. I can’t believe i traded in my Halon32 but, it’s alright
@Rusty Shackleford I didn't buy one yet
@Rusty Shackleford but thanks dude. Will be soon as I can lol
Great review! Really liked what you had to say toward the end of the video regarding innovation in compound bow design and how some folks react to what they see each year from bow manufacturers. 👍
Very interesting video on the new Mathews bow. You do a good job explaining the changes on the new bows.
Mine came in last night! Setting up this morning 🏹👍🏾 Awesome review as always 💯
Yeah it's hard not to like!
Great review. My Bowtech limbs blew up today on the range. This is definitely my next purchase. Thanks!
For someone who shoots lefty you make it look easy. Got me really debating making the switch from bowtech.
I bought a 40 wish i bought a 36 even thou I haven’t shot the 40 yet I shot the 36 and loved it.
If you like the 36 you'll love the 40. It's an aiming machine. Not quite as fast as the 36 but with light target arrows you shouldn't have any problem
Been a Hoyt shooter for over 25 years. Getting this bow next week over the Ventum 33.
Your videos are the best from anyone on UA-cam
Old video, I’m looking to buy a used flagship for my first good bow. I’m really considering this. Seems like a good Axle to axle for hunting and 3d archery.
Cracked up when you mentioned the mq1, that is what I'm still using. You also hit the nail on the head as to why I'm willing to spend 1200 on a new bow
hall0341 the mq1 was a really good bow back in the day i hunted with 1 for a few years
I keep waiting for the 28 review. Glad I found your channel. Awesome content!
Its dropping tomorrow morning ar 6:00am pst!
Inside Out Precision I’ll be watching! I’m just getting back into archery and you have a gift for teaching archery. You’re content is outstanding!
@@Tom_Monahan I appreciate that! Thanks for your support. Feel free to teach with any questions in the future.
Shooting the VXR 31.5 70# 28.5 in. With 515 gn. Axis 260s. Didn't shoot it through a chrono, but happy to see the test bow shoot 509 grains at 265 fps at 28 inches.
Great review. I’m almost sold on the VXR. Definitely need to go shoot it.
Thank u for the honest review, definitely picking one of these up very soon👍
my son just got a 31.5 the VXR smoothest quiet bow I have ever seen!
thats my dilemma im a lefty and a 31" draw so its hard to find something i like . great video review as usual!
Great review. Loving mine, just came from the Vertix mainly because I was able to get the 31" draw length I need. Great bow.. hard to believe they could improve on the Vertix but they did.
I did a speed test with a 31 inch draw length
Bought one, keep checking in to see how close I am at different arrow weights. Telling all my bow friends about your channel.
I appreciate that!
Your reviews/videos are by far the best around. Who knew Justin Timberlake knew so much about archery. Lol. Just kidding. Great job again.
Nice job, looking into the 28” for tree stands and ground blinds.shooting a Halon 6 right now ,should be a nice up grade.Thanks.
Awesome video 👍👌
I have watched this a dozen times or more.
@1976kingdom ^
Boxing 101 I shoot a Mathews MR6 it’s still a pretty decently drawing bow.
Really great review! Thanks! Looking forward to the 28. Smiles and blessings...
@Boxing 101
I personally haven't been able to shoot anything but PSE as the other brands don't get stocked for women with shorter draw lengths and less poundage.
LOL.
The price isn't no difference. You will only save like 10 dollars.
@@InsideOutPrecision hahah I know. It still looks like pain brother
Alec Foster if you don’t mind me asking, how much did all that run you? I’m planning on saving for one this summer! If not that is totally ok!
Alec Foster you are awesome!!! Thank you for all your info!!!!
I shot both of the new 2020.There no quieter then the Triax or Vertix. The VXR 28 is a oz lighter then the Triax.
Great review, I’ve been a huge hoyt fan for a while.. but with this bow I’m on the fence.. I guess I need to see if Mathews makes cool hats.
Sik bow and great review! Just bought this bow, getting it built tmrw. Cant wait to run some arrows through it and smack some whitetails and turkeys!
Well i went to scheels shot the Vxr 31.5,the hoyt axius alpha, the PSE NXT NXT 31 VXR IS the best hunting bow for 2020 no contest!
I'd like to see a 33" with a full 7" brace. Tired of hearing 6 is the new 7.
that's pretty much the traverse just no switch weight
PSE Evo NXT 33 is what you are looking for. 33" ATA with 7" brace height
They don't. Everything they will release this year is out at this point.
@@InsideOutPrecision alright, thanks.
11:59 sounds like your field point is loose :) How much do you think that effects your shot?
How about IBO speed comparison at each lbs mod, and subsequent arrow weights 400, 450 & up to about 500?
Thanks for the review!!
Watched a review on this at 30 inch 350 grain arrow shot 340 fps
ua-cam.com/video/7RKMJkW83xM/v-deo.html
I did a speed test with the 75lb mods with 4 different arrow weights
Anxious to see how it compares to the 28
I shot this version vxr and the rx4 ultra. Both were quite to me as well
Hoyt draw a full ½" shorter than Mathews! Drives me crazy haha. But love the bows
Great review as usual. Can’t wait on the VXR 28 one. Question I have for you. So far, Evo NXT or VXR 31.5?
You guys should review the pse inertia... it’s older but I’d like to hear your review
Great review as always. Thank you.
Shot this bow today and it is stupid quiet! I will be purchasing soon!
New.ones come out in November! I'd hold off
Amazing video and review!
GREAT VIDEO!! i'm ordering monday here on the east coast. left handed.. i heard people are having a hard time mounting the hamskea hunter pro trinity in the burger hole... only on left handed bows? asking if you found any issues... and do all the switch weight mods come with the bow? extra?
What do you mean only on left handed bows
@@joc6117 i was reading on forums mates where having a hard time with their burger hole wasn't tapped all the way through or something like that....so they needed a smaller bolt
@@joshuasuriner7605 but 9nly that problem existed for left hand bows?

Thanks for your bow reviews. I'm debating between a VXR 31.5 and a Traverse. I spot and stalk antelope, deer, and elk in Idaho. I am still fairly new to hunting (3rd year) and it's hard for me to tell much difference when shooting these bows bare at 10 yds. Perhaps the Traverse is a little louder with a bit of a twang? Or could that be the wicked threads vs zebras? 29" DL. 70# DW. 85%. I'd appreciate your biased opinion on which one you'd choose and why. Thank you
Are you seeing very much deviation from the actual draw weight compared to the intended amount with the switch weight system?
I know I'm kinda late to the party, but have a question about the string angle. I have a 29.75 draw length, and I really like this bow., but am unable to touch my nose to the string. I do find especially 40 yards and out, I find my head searching sometimes to line everything up. Do you feel its something I just need to get use too or maybe another solution? Thanks.
Of the reviews on the VXR, yours is by far, the best. If you can, I have a Mathews Switchback,
that I purchased in 2004.
Nice review. Im on the hunt for a new bow tossing up between the VXR and the NXT after reviewing them both.
whats your thoughts?
So when he says the grain of the arrow is that not counting the field point I’m guessing
You mentioned late in this video that the Traverse was still included in their 2020 bows. Any idea where I could find one new? I shot one in 2019 but ended up buying a different bow since the price was slashed by $300 - $400 during pre season sale. I love that bow but can't get the Traverse out of my head.
Man your the real deal! Thanks again, cheers from Spain*
An Easton Axis 340 will be a great all around arrow
@@InsideOutPrecision thanks much
Is it practical/reasonable to have an off-season draw weight of around 60lbs for high rep practice and switch mods to 75lbs for hunting season (assuming new arrows and sight positions)? I look forward to visiting you and getting whatever Mathews has for 2021.
No, just shoot whats comfortable and stick with it. If you think you can pull more, then bump it up well before season . Practice how you play
Really similar bows in terms of length and brace height, but the traverse has a little more speed
Awesome review! Could you let me know what sight that is? I would really appreciate it 👍
Awesome info. I might have gotten this bow if I didn’t just buy a 2019 Bowtech SR6. Just curious if you will ever do a review on the SR6?
Probably not as we aren't a BowTech dealer. I've tuned plenty of them though and they seem to shoot well
I have one but I'm not overly impressed with it, I still like my Vertix better because I shoot the same arrow with both and I get 8 fps faster with my Vertix and its very quite and as stable as the VXR. The only thing I like better is the design of the riser.
That surprises me that the vertix is faster. Are you sure they're the same draw length?
Would dealers charge extra for tuning the bow to the shooter, meaning the shooter picks the arrows, then the shop adjusts top-hats to adjust for left or right tears?
Love your videos. Have a question about the 2020 Mathews VXR 31.5 Bow. What exactly do you get in the box. Is the integrated rest included and the mods to adjust the Draw weight. Also I saw an unboxing and it had a Mathews hat included. Just want to know what is in the box so I am not missing anything. Thanks........
The only thing that comes with the order is the hat. The rest, mods, and top hats ( cam spacers) are sold separately.
@@InsideOutPrecision Thanks for your response. Do you know how much the mods and the Mathews rest that matches the dovetail cost?
@@saberman12341 the rest is $250. The mods are $45
Thank you for the review and comparing it to the traverse. I am curious how it balanced in the hand at longer distances compared to the traverse.
Thanks👊🏻🇺🇸
Oh ya and 85% let off👌🏻
The TRX 36 is longer while weighting 0.02 pounds more; yes, is more expensive but will be on podiums, for sure, and the 31.5" is already $100 more than the 28".
Can you make a video on how to get perfect center shot
Youre on your way to becoming an ambidextrous hunter. 😁 Thanks for your time! 🇺🇸🦌
For hunting out west, spot and stalk mostly, shooting some longer distances...would you choose the Traverse or the VXR??? Was 100% sold on the Traverse but this review has me questioning that now!
You really can't go wrong with either. Shoot them both and see which one suits you best!
Fantastic, fair and well done. Thank you!
Why do u prefer Limb driven Rests? The string going all the way to the limb makes me worry about it in the field more.
@@InsideOutPrecision Thanks for the Reply!!
@@InsideOutPrecision Which limb driven rest do you run on your hunting bow?
@@AV1776 I prefer the hamskea hunter hybrid pro.
@@InsideOutPrecision thank you for the reply! I have learned a lot from your videos. I appreciate all you are doing.
Love your reviews
So you think is beter all orounder than traverse? Im not a hunter just 3d and hobby archer and im looking for some quality bow to do all
Is the string angle similar to a traverse at 30", 31"?
