I figured they are both survival horror they might go well together. Besides, I've been a fan of survival horror for a long time, I really liked the old Silent Hills. I might be making a video on Silent Hill 2 in the next few weeks
Very in depth video, love the presentation. I really appreciate all the visuals you provided, and they look to mostly be ai generated. Did you make them for this video yourself? Or is there already a large supply of ai pictures made from the Fear and Hunger fanbase?
I generated them all. Mostly using screenshots or the character sprites. Sometimes I'll blend some together, so say a character and a location, and then feed that image back into an AI model to get them closer to photorealistic. Also, I had been using a lot of "photorealistic style" images for Fear and Hunger, so in this video I also wanted to mix things up. So I started using stained glass, berserk art style, and the style of various other medieval artists style to generate some more images that were off a different style. For a few pictures I added some motion using deep fake software. I did this less since it goes take a bit more work. There's a bit of the girl and Nilvan that I used deep fakes to add some motion to in this video. So yeah, i generated the pictures. If there is interest, I can always make the pictures available if anyone wants them. Thank you very much for watching :)
I'm not usually for A.I. generated art, but you did the thing I think it should be used for - inspiration, and further development. These are some amazing renders, and I love how you've provided an explanation on how your process, of how you mixed and matched these different styles together. Can't looking forward to watch more from your channel!
Thank you very much for the kind words! I'm currently working on my next video and it's awesome to get this type of feedback! I'm happy to share about my messing around with AI, i'm just personally fascinated with it's different uses, be it data prediction (regression) or natural language processing. It's so sci fi. I also like the idea of daisy chaining models. So say you generate an image with Stable diffusion, edit it with photoshop, add some details in the back ground using Abode's generative AI, and then change the visual style with Midjourney. I think a chunk of art moving forward will be a mix of "hand" made and AI generated.
@@tacobanana_forever Can't wait! Yes! That's what's so cool about A.I. art - using it as a tool, bringing whatever the artist had in mind further than ever before. @@tacobanana_forever I think the topic of the video would be something I'd really like to see, but the issue of AI is that it's usage is pretty much anti-art. Fear and Hunger is a mechanically competent game that to a great degree is held with duct tape and glue, and the reason it's considered good, interesting, worth talking about, is because of its artistry, it's characters, how it depicts things, the subjects it handles, the story, lore and other elements. in another comment I saw while scrolling to write my own I saw you mention that you ran screencaps of the game through a generator. I dont know how the author of FnH would feel about that, but if it was me that would feel pretty bad. in a way it feels like you have comodified the appeal of F&H just down to its consumable aesthetic, and turned it into a commodity. to bring a more tangible example, you may have seen the conversation about the Anime Rock Paper Scissors by Corridor, an AI generated thing that uses as one of its primary training a bunch of screencaps of Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust. Mother's Basement has a very good video on the subject (Title: AI Anime, and insult to life itself. just to have someone break it down understandably), and I keep coming back to a phrase from that video where, because of the existance of Corridor's rock paper scissors anime, Geoff says "We are already living in a world where the striking look of Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust is less distinctive", and I feel the same way about how you're treating Fear & Hunger.
Thank you for taking the trouble of typing this up and sharing your perspectives. I'm not an artist, but a science/data nerd, so some of your points may not have been obvious to me, and you do raise points I hadn't considered. If I may ask one more question, do you see a ethical difference between an AI image generated with a prompt that draws from a living artist (so say an artist that posted their work to Deviant Art) or a prompt using a historical artist (so like a medieval artists from a different era)?
@@tacobanana_forever I have been seeing that some of the grievances of artists regarding AI are hard, and with your question you raise a good point, specially regarding the consent of the artist for using it in training the machine. Long story short, with some nuances omited, what many artists have been pointing out is that AI training should be done with artwork and images that belong to the public domain, or with images that are privately owned (for example, I pay an artist specifically to create images to feed into the machine, and they agree to do so). outside of if the images generated count as "art" (which is sort of a personal opinion talk), the ethics are about consent, so using historical art pieces that are legally in the public domain is ok
I completely agree with you. And thanks again for the perspective. I like the idea (at least for now) of trying to draw from cultural and historical imagery. It would force me to learn more art/photography history, but in the end I think images may come out better, and I can at least try to generate them more ethically (if that's possible) In the end, AI companies involved in AI research already have tons of money, while talented, insightful and driven artist struggle to pay bills :(

So I haven't played this game, I plan to play the sequel but have kind of killed the F&H 1s story for myself watching youtube videos. One thing I have noticed multiple times but am yet to hear anyone comment on is that there seems to be an idol of the god of fear and hunger in one of the cave dwellers houses. I think its the one that houses the cube. Anyone else notice this ?
I've completely missed that detail. Thanks for pointing it out. Honestly, I don't know what to make of it, not sure how the cave dwellers would even know about the god of fear and hunger. I had thought that the 1st appearance of the God of Fear and Hunger is at the end of the game, so maybe it was a figure in their folklore? Or maybe the God of Fear and Hunger was prophesized? I would still play the 1st one even if the plot has been spoiled, there's still a lot to explore, just my 2cents. Termina is more polished and has a lot of charm, but there are something I did also like about the 1st one
@@tacobanana_forever Realistically I feel I have to give it a go, even if just for uncensored stingers. Honestly man I have never heard anyone touch on on the effigy and I have watched A LOT of FH1 videos. Awesome video btw man, it was good to see such a comprehensive lore through of the entire game

You're entitled to your opinion, no worries, it's all good :) Also, I'd prefer the term AI images, I wouldn't call it art out of respect to people that pour their entire lives perfecting a craft. @rynziart to further my point can an ai create the art that it does -which is much better than the majority of art in the world btw- without human interaction? Or effort at all from a human? Come back with a good response please lol
@@shatterpointgaming215 Its not hard to create a video like this. it takes minimal effort to do so. Would of been cool if he tried to make these himself, but no I guess he would rather just sit there typing away into a generator. Its just lazy. Also the guy who made the fear and hunger games did not consent to this. He hasn't said he would be fine with some ai images being made by using some of his designs in the database. Making ai images of someone's work without the consent of the original creator should be illegal.
Thank you! Glad you liked it :) I use a bunch of them, Midjourney does the heavy lifting, then I'll touch up, add, remove, edit or stitch/merge them together in Adobe Photoshop I also started to use Stable Diffusion, it's not "moderated" so it allows for more options. Midjourney is very picky about what it'll generate, nothing racy or scary, which makes making images for a horror game hard. Stable Diffusion is harder to learn, but gives you TONS more tools. In my next video "City of Fear and Hunger" i'm using stable diffusion for adding parallax movement to still images. In this video I also used DeepFaceLive to animate the faces. So i can generate the image with Midjourney, touch it up/correct it in Photoshop, and then animate it using DeepFaceLive
Cool video, as an (traditional) artist that gone balls deep into AI image gen I can tell that you put a lot of effort into generating these art (effort as in not just putting keywords in Midjourney). I don't see AI an unethical or even stealing jobs from artists so I'm cool with that, but my petpeeve is that you didn't disclose that you're using AI art in the vid desc. Which is weird cause you put time to put music you used.
Thanks for the feedback and the kind words. I guess I never thought about adding a disclosure regarding AI art, but I appreciate you giving me a heads up about. I think at some point I stopped putting anything about it because it become normal to me, so thanks for the perspective. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and I'm flattered you liked the imagery. I might approach AI and AI art from a slightly different perspective, i'm a data engineer/scientist, so AI is the first time I've been able to have a way to create images like this. Take care!
@@tacobanana_forever If you want my take on AI art vs traditional art: I think creating AI art is ok as long as 1. It's disclosed that it is made by AI and 2. It's not for sale or used in any commercial way. Number 1 is because the wat to make traditional art and AI art are just fundementally different that it should be a different matter entirely. Think of it like cooking vs baking; they are both ways to prepare food, but they have different crafts and know-hows to make said food. The guy who submitted AI art "Theatre D'Opra Spatial" at an art competition is an asshole because he disguised art made by a machine into a comptetitions for human artists. He skipped most of the creative process and let the machine handle it; for another analogy this is like using an AI to win a chess tournament. Number 2 is more iffy. Imo unless you have every artists' permission to put their art into your AI training data you shouldn't be able to commercially sell your generated image as it is plagiarism. To why I think it's plagiarism: the AI only uses derivation of the trained image without any meaningful changes (meaningful as in no human input) which doesn't protect said image under Fair Use protection laws and doesnt grant it any copyright.
One i love how the ai made the characters looks its really nice Two your videos on fear and hunger series are interesting and keep entertain while i play horror rpgs or just rgs in general. And three the first time i played this game and read about legard i immediately "oooooh this mofo is gonna pull a griffin...."
I dont like AI art, i think its like eating dogshit quality mcdonalds food, it is a pale imitation, it lacks any quality that makes art worth observing past the most surface level You could have commissioned artists to draw the characters in a style you like, but i understand how that may be expensive and not viable, AI is a powerful tool, but it must always remain that, a tool, before we regret not doing that
why do you think anyone wanted your extremely poorly reasoned opinion. you literally wouldn't even have known it was AI art if someone didn't say it. and i have seen art that looked this detailed and good that wasn't AI. you very literally don't have a point because this easily could've been drawn by a person. you received the information that a person used AI tools to generate the art, THEN decided that made it meaningless, when if it wasn't that, you would have thought it was awesome. said it before, but again, this is what it's like to literally not have a real point
Thanks for the heads up, I'll admit I'm not terribly well versed on Berserk, so time for me to look up Thorfin. I need to get to reading the manga, I've only seen the 3 recent movies about the Golden Age ark
The problem I have with these "design theories" since Dark Souls is that people think they are being clever. "The game teaches" no it isn't a consciousness. The DEVELOPER is teaching. "To use the side entrance" no because a smaller door that is still visible and still allows a scent trail wouldn't stop the dogs. You are taught the game makes no sense ON TOP of the other lessons. A larger being tgat can't get through the door or any other sime designs. I like the game but let's not be reading what isn't there. I may as well watch South Park mcbugger balls. A great game with many objective flaws.

Very true, sometimes brain is bad
I truly think that's the way to go, and I really hope we get to see you use and develop your art and skills with it. I'm gonna have to give it a shot as well, since I work a lot in Photoshop, but I want to expand my toolbox 🙌

It would force me to learn more art/photography history, but in the end I think images may come out better, and I can at least try to generate them more ethically (if that's possible)
In the end, AI companies involved in AI research already have tons of money, while talented, insightful and driven artist struggle to pay bills :(
This is quality right here

Nice video man, what program do you use to make those ai images?
Thank you! Glad you liked it :)
I use a bunch of them, Midjourney does the heavy lifting, then I'll touch up, add, remove, edit or stitch/merge them together in Adobe Photoshop
I also started to use Stable Diffusion, it's not "moderated" so it allows for more options.
@@tacobanana_forever Thank you for the answer, I really could use some ai images at times and you did a great job.
thank you! glad you liked them! Let me know if you got any other questions :)
Those are really good point, and insightful. Thanks for typing this up

You could have commissioned artists to draw the characters in a style you like, but i understand how that may be expensive and not viable,
AI is a powerful tool, but it must always remain that, a tool, before we regret not doing that
why do you think anyone wanted your extremely poorly reasoned opinion. you literally wouldn't even have known it was AI art if someone didn't say it. and i have seen art that looked this detailed and good that wasn't AI. you very literally don't have a point because this easily could've been drawn by a person. you received the information that a person used AI tools to generate the art, THEN decided that made it meaningless, when if it wasn't that, you would have thought it was awesome.

"To use the side entrance" no because a smaller door that is still visible and still allows a scent trail wouldn't stop the dogs.
