@The middle ground What is more likely is that Sony don't have full merchandising and image rights to Tom Holland Spiderman as it is part owned by Disney. Sony wanted to drum up hype by featuring Spiderman in the trailer but didn't negotiate image rights in time so they just used one that they own. Another even simpler explanation is that the graffiti is an artists interpretation of spiderman in that universe, just like artists do in our world everyday. They just had it be Raimi spiderman as an Easter egg for the fans. Both explanations are a lot less convoluted than the one you explained which would be confusing for the general audience and confusion = less money. The thing businesses are made on.

I gotchu Joe, I’ll pepper this ting for you. So it’s clear that this movie is going to dip into the MCU a tad. Now if both studios can play nice, Blade and Morbius could end up teaming up against someone like Dracula later on. Even better, all the cards are lining up for Marvel to launch a Dr Strange black ops team (moonknight, blade, scarlet witch, dr voodoo etc) it’s possible that Morbius could join the team like the comics. Issa whole ting🔥🔥 I’m very excited for the future
Sony can pull from the MCU, but it won't go the other way. Sony is just the new Marvel TV division.

I think Marvel and Sony agreed to "share" the Spiderverse for the time being. We'll see what happens when the contract is up. But until then, enjoy the ride of sharing characters.

The way I see it. The Sony Movies will have a Netflix style relationship with the MCU. They’ll say they’re in the MCU. They’ll reference the events of the MCU and certain characters and due to being owned Sony, will have the MCU Spider-Man appear in the Sony films, but the wider MCU (Avengers, Doctor Strange, etc.) will not acknowledge the Sony spin offs. They won’t reference them and unless the adjust the deal with marvel in the future, we won’t see venom, morbius and more interact with any MCU characters other than Spider-Man.
Deadline, who is extremely reliable, said in an article after it was confirmed marvel and Sony had renewed the deal:
“We hear that as Sony progresses their own Marvel universe with titles likes Venom 2 and Sinister Six, and Disney/Marvel their own, there could be a “call and answer” between the two franchises as they acknowledge details between the two in what is would loosely be described as a shared detailed universe. Details on that are still early.”
So it definitely seems that the Sony films will be in the MCU, they just won’t be acknowledged by any major Marvel Studios MCU movies other than Spider-Man, which is fine. We don’t need to see the Avengers reference a small event like Venom, just like there was no need for the Avengers to reference a small scale event like Kingpin or the building collapsing in Defenders. Unless these Sony villains do something catastrophic, they won’t be acknowledged by the wider MCU, and when they are, they’ll be acknowledged by Spider-Man, as it seems, judging by the post credits of Homecoming and the end of this trailer, that Vulture and Scorpion are looking into creating a team of criminals who were bested by Spider-Man to get revenge.
Personally, I’m fine with it. If it keeps Spider-Man in the MCU, it’s good, and it also means these characters will be fully fleshed out by the time Spider-Man meets them, so no origin stories in the solo Spider-Man movies. Plus, if Marvel and Sony continue to work together the way they are, as Kevin Feige has said Marvel and Sony will be working together more closely than they were before on this new deal, we could very well see Marvel Studios say ‘okay, let’s do it. Let’s have these Sony characters appear in a future major crossover film.’

Quit with the comparisons. That effect has been done in several movies. Everybody is always hating on shit. Always comparing movies to others. It's a smoke special effect. The current members that could be members of the sinister six and make sense are: Vulture, Mysterio, Scorpion, Morbius, Shocker, Chameleon (extra ones Prowler, Venom? and future villains)

For me it's tied for first with "Interview with the Vampire."
Sony can pretty much do their version of Sinister 6 now. Mysterio, Morbius, Vulture, Carnage, Venom and Scorpion. All have been in the movies.
Just think of this movie as the Netflix shows, they “take place in the MCU” but don’t appear in the Marvel universe
It’s not MCU - all these characters are SONY - and their universe
Movie Watcher well not exactly. Homecoming and far from home are owned by Sony and Sony has full power of those movies and they made the deal with Disney to use the MCU. So this movie is the same. They can’t use any MCU terms like Iron man or the snap but they can use names of anyone from the Sony MCU movies like vulture or Mysterio is they can continue in that storyline of letters identity revealed since that’s Sony owned stuff, not any Disney terminology. So yeah that is definitely Vulture in the end scene, if not it’s just a random fun cameo which I highly doubt since it would just cause unnecessary confusion at that point. So yeah this movie probably happens in the MCU but can’t be mentioned in any other MCU movies besides MCU spider man. But they’re probably gonna strike another deal so they can use MORBIUS in Blade

I've watched A LOT of breakdowns from A LOT of big film youtubers, but Joe has probably given the smartest breakdown of Sony's strategy so far. They get the best of both world if they pimp out Spiderman to Disney, then use his clout to boost there Sony-verse. Smart business move, and more content for fans. We all win.
I don't know guys if you have seen the movie called The Cave (2005) and monsters in that movie have the ability to "see" with echolocation, they're based on some vampire origin story. Seeing Leto's eyes changed during his transformation process, it reminded me of that movie. BUT FAM, this movie is gonna be flames, honestly Jared is gonna kill this role.

I think a lot of people are ignoring something that I just noticed. IF they are indeed using the Toby Mcguire Spiderman they could potentially be setting up Spider Wars, with the multiple versions of Spider-Man. Which means, we could theoretically get Alfred Molina as Spider-Octopus.

Sony and Marvel are trying too integrate there characters more. In the trailer, when Morbius walks by the Spider-Man image on the wall, it had murderer across it, maybe a hint too Spider-Man Far From Home. Then having Michael Keaton at the end of the trailer was a nice touch.
