Mike Patton is the only person on earth with the vocal capacity to sound like an aging cowboy sipping whiskey, and also a 14 year old screaming at their mom.
The first time I heard of Mr. Bungle was when I came across their Super Mario Bros cover in the later 90's. I thought maybe they were a band that played 80's Nintendo music or something so I had to check them out. I had no clue what I was in for lol. Then I remember buying The Dillinger Escape Plan's "Irony Is a Dead Scene" album in '02 having no idea that it was the same vocalist from Mr. Bungle... Then shortly after that I realized the guy from those Faith No More songs I used to hear on the radio in the 90's was the same guy from Mr. Bungle and the Dillinger EP, which resulted in me instantly becoming a Mike Patton fan.
Mike Patton was a guest vocalist for some of Dillinger escape plan, but he isn’t the vocalist. On the EP? I couldn’t tell ya tbh, you might be right there
@@wyattcole5452 Yes he did vocals on the “Irony is a Dead Scene EP,” he is the only vocalist on that album. They only performed that album live with him a couple times though.

They are a great band. I've seen them three times. I love their music. But I wouldn't call them original exactly. Check out some Zappa, King Crimson. Stuff like that. That's where Bungle comes from. They are a like a modern version of those bands with truly sick subject matter and a masterful singer.
If anyone wants suggestions for other vocalists who do the crazy, dynamic fry screams like Patton, I strongly suggest checking out Kyo from Dir En Grey. In fact, the whole band are probably super influenced by Mr Bungle in terms of their approach to songwriting.
Pattons scream doe, sounds like some hostile ding dong. And The Noise that sounds like some cat, yes it is a cat but it sounds like some bird had just ate at it. XXXDDDDD

Dear avaicha, I never would have made that parallel, regarding Mike's screams on the live Bizarre "Travolta" and OU818's "Mr. Nice Guy": you are totally accurate and I love it!!!!! Thanx.
@@TiTiTiTiT I understand what with it being a live recording of an outdoor set as well, but theres parts where some instruments are either inaudible or just missing altogether, theres keys and guitar missing in certain parts of a few songs of this performance.
Patton gets to much credit for both this band and faith no more being so good. Billy gould, trevor dunn and trey sparuce deserve much more credit than they get. Not saying Patton doesnt deserves credit, he deserves alot. But I just see way to many people saying "patton is god" on songs like retovertigo that he had no part in writing
Singers/frontmen are almost always held in higher regards compared to the rest of the band. I wonder if it has to do with most fans not playing instruments making them identify with a singer more. I'm not saying that singers aren't talented or aren't "real" musicians but they seem to get an inflated amount of praise over the rest of the band. Look at Ozzy Osbourne.
Because it is a double effort when you are a singer/frontman like he is. The musicians that you talk about are genius but being Patton is being unique.
Well, both bands in general deserve far more credit period. Patton just gets the spotlight when folk who aren't necessarily big fans of the bands mention Bungle or FnM, cause he's easily the most recognizable member. Which is understandable considering he branched out into 100 other side projects and some high profile voice work.
