Man there was some nice bedrock cracks and crevices in that little area. That is where I always concentrate my efforts, digging out the crevices as close to the bottom of them as possible. That is where the larger pieces drop into at high water!!!
@@meMiner ....hope you are doing great! All I can say about AGC is now I know where gold dust comes from...lol . Gold mining in the Carolinas started by looking through the stream sediments in the active streams. Placer miners would also seek out bench gravels along the sides of the valleys for deposits that would be missed by searching only the valley bottoms.

This just goes to show that gold ain't easy to come by. There is a lot of work that goes into panning for gold and that is after finding where the gold might be!!! You gotta really enjoy being outside before you start. It's a great excuse for a camping trip though 👍🇺🇸🇬🇧
It's real easy for beginners to make the mistake of staying at the first place they find gold instead of spending time checking the whole area and each of the anomalies for the best gold. One of the best true prospecting videos I've seen yet. That darker red area might have been lode gold coming from decomposing mineralized schist. I heard the darker red saprolite in that area has gold values as well. Could be what they were digging shafts into further up the hills away from the water table. Next time I'm up that way I'll keep an eye out for areas like that.
Aquachigger... can you try to do some more caving adventures? They are my favorite to watch. I love seeing the caves that no one has been in and all the amazing finds in them. It would mean a lot if you did a few. Thanks! Stay safe...

Id like to look for the lost treasure in Pottville pa, im not sure about the spelling, but the story goes a group was transporting gold to Canada but was being followed by native Americans, so they buried it below a rock face and carved a cross into the rock face.
Chigg, I'm new to detecting and panning. Question : why spend time panning an area that doesn't beep a metal detector ? Wouldn't any flakes or pickers worth panning show up on your detector ? Love your videos ! ALWAYS interesting and inspirational.
Gold detecting is harder than you think. I originally bought my detector in Colorado to find gold. Many hours and a complete strike out. But I have found an ounce or so of flour gold with a sluice.
Smaller nuggets, and flakes, don't show on even higher end detectors. Essentially larger pickers and above for detecting. That's why he is panning. A majority of the gold you find, is too fine for a detector. If you suspect gold, get a cheap panning kit. You will not get rich, but you may find some memories, along with some gold flakes.😉
Yes to all the replies, the detector needs to first be a good quality detector and some will not even register a small picker. It also depends on the coil you have. If you want just pickers than a really good gold detector with a small coil is what you want. If you want gold and more of it, the use a gold pan, a sluice and a high banker (where you are allowed). Two quick easy things to know....learn how to read a river and get down to the bed sock and get into those cracks!!!! Good luck! Stay safe!
barbie lee I was born in Boston, but live in California now. I’m a gold protector and there is SO MUCH info I would have to tell you. But to make it short and not so sweet for gold.....is there is not much where you are and it would be flour gold, and probably VERY tiny!! In California you can get visible gold in almost every pan if you know what you are doing. Even if you don’t you will get something in the pan. Since you are 3000 miles away or less miles from even good gold bering states I would say to learn how to read a river. There are tons of good videos on UA-cam on how to read a river for gold. The biggest problem you have is your gold will be flour gold and VERY, VERY tiny. Another option if you just want to pan and see some ok size gold is to buy paydirt, you won’t get your money back out of it but it will be fun and you can do it at home.
