    OK, Wally, I sprained my shoulder, patting myself on the back. That was too easy... you should have shown Lucy a V-1 cut. It's too bad the tops weren't at ten so Lucy could have seen what real IFR is. (Check your email).
    Lucy... congratulations on your decision to learn to fly. Whether you're satisfied attaining your Private license, or you're the pilot of the first Martian lander, it's a career field unlike any other. One of my very best, lifelong friends was a lady named Evelyn "Pinky" Brier. Pinky was the very first female licensed flight instructor, back in the 1930s, and flew as a corporate/charter pilot into her seventies. Pinky had approximately fifty-thousand-hours when she retired, and is credited for making more landings at Los Angeles International Airport than any other pilot. Now, have Wally loan you his copy of my book, "Broken Controller: an Air Traffic Controllers Story." It describes my life as a controller, commercial, corporate pilot and flight instructor. Welcome aboard... you can 'bust minimums' with me... any day....

    The air break is so tiny you wouldn't think it would do anything

      @AccidentalAviator  Місяць тому

      Yeah, it is kind of small, but you'd be amazed at how something so small can disrupt airflow to slow you down quickly.

    No briefing on the O2 mask? Maybe because you’re going at 12000? Might be good to brief in case of smoke. Am I right? What do I win?

      Bingo! I'm enjoying all of the great suggestions from everyone. Did you catch how much pressure was in the bottle? It had a slow leak and I was taking it over to GSO to have it looked at and fixed. Turned out to be the regulator.

    Hello, my name is Jorge and I live in Santiago of Chile. I have flown C 172
    I have a doubt, Can I do a question?.
    In minute 5:01 show the speed brake, but, What is the device that is seem the speed brake and is between the speed brake and the wing tip?
    Thanks.

    • @AccidentalAviator
      @AccidentalAviator  Місяць тому

      That's a great question, and you're the second person to ask this. I *believe* it's just a strake. It's located on the back side of the wing next to each aileron, and it's used to help the airflow across the back of the wing/aileron. It is NOT a moveable control surface.

      I have seen your plane near the sea. There is a lot of salt air in that place that facilitate the corrotion
      Does the plane need a special kind maintenance to prevent the corrosion?

      @@JorgeAlarcare Great question!
      The plane gets a full bath frequently and the engines get desalinization rinses at least once a month (this is an actual Williams Engine procedure)

    • @AccidentalAviator
      @AccidentalAviator  Місяць тому

      That's more of a small plane briefing item (to crack a door open). You wouldn't be able to do that, and you'd want to be strapped in your seat if you were doing any type of emergency landing. Plus, there's no door in the cockpit :-)
      BTW, she was briefed on how to open both the cabin door and the emergency exit.
