AEC (algorithm enhancing comment) I hope it helps bring clicks to your channel. Interesting content from a real sailor. Congrats on your passage. Built my 34' cold molded Kauri boat in NZ back in the early 80's spent 9 years sailing 'round the Pacific before selling it in San Diego. Retired now ,so my sailing is done vicariously through channels like yours. Cheers
That's crazy having to motor 1100 miles! That is truly a beautiful, well appointed boat but I appreciate the realness of your boat and lifestyle. It's one most of us can relate to a lot more.
The only sailing channel I enjoy watching anymore! Thanks Holly for always putting out quality content that is relatable to the commoner haha! You know how to put together an engaging story and keep me watching all the way to the end. Fair winds as you continue your travels, I'm eager to see your future unfold here and wish you all the best in your endeavors!
They charge you in 15 min increments to search your boat? That's next level. Alot of sailing channels that come here comment on what the "welcome" is like, and what a rip off it is. (many things)
People" need to be better? What does that mean? Third world countries often don't have resources like privileged Americans... The USA that has bullied militarily and financially for decades... Those people coming from their infrastructure do not understand that the REST of the world doesn't HAVE access to luxuries... Like Garbage pick up, or choices in buying food goods, or recycling trucks, or or or... As a Canadian, I even can't afford half the stuff that my American counterparts can buy because their dollar fiat currency is stronger due to world domination. I really really wish that people would see that it's not the people of countries that are behaving badly, they are just loving hand to mouth most of the time. It's the countries that control their countries... Namely big Pharma, big food, and the industrial war machine... Among others
What an amazing yacht, to bad you didn't get to sail her due to light/no wind. I crewed on an Oyster 56 and that boat needed 15 knots of wind to sail with standard sails. Great episode Holly.
your demeanor and general well being seems so recharged by your time being craded in the lap of luxury. Good on you and thank you gents for taking car of this fine young sailor on her journey. i can't wait to share your travels with my 16 years ld daughter who I start teaching to sail this summer. thanks again
100 percent agree, Holly! Fly, sail, drive, hike or bike - they all have advantages and disadvantages but what they all share is that you get to travel!
Gee what a holiday sail after what you just sailed. Very nice boat to be in particular the dish washer and washing machine seemed to tickle your fancy lol cheers for the content was very relaxing 😊
Uhuru is a gorgeous boat, but, Geck has a special place in my heart. Cool to see the ocean so calm it was as if you were traversing a lake. See ya in 2, Hols XO Darcee
I decided to subscribe bc/ tho I watch several long time sailors on their channels, yours has a daring to it bc/ you do it alone w/ total confidence in your skills and ability to be alone. It is probably true that most people can't do that. So I appreciate that you film the journey in a flowing way with relaxing knowledgeable commentary. I appreciate that you are out there on the seas!
Nice boat. Yes, when we were passing the Rio Magdalena, 40 mi off the coast of Barranquilla, Colombia we saw much like this and worse. But we had 3 meter seas too. Enjoy your “luxury cruise”.
If you are still in Townsville make sure you checkout Magnetic Island. I lived out there for a month or so after a long stint as a Jackaroo in NSW. BTW I am from South Bristol! Keep on keeping on!!😎
Australia is a pain in the arse - said as an Ozzie - has a mate sail around the world - back to Fremantle - and they confiscated the butter - in a can - bought in Fremantle 18 months ago..what a treat being on a Swan..
In thec70s was sailing from Singapore Australia the black gang came aboard and also had to register our watches and rechecked before leaving by air real aresoles at airports also
This past winter, I ended up becoming addicted to good sailing vids and just now found your channel! (new sub- yay!). I'm a semi-retired chef, so working seasonally is a fab thing. It was fun to learn that your fam's in Maine-- where I moved 5 years ago after a lifetime of vacations down in the Sebego area. Now I'm on an island living in this crazy old artist's camp. Sometimes during wind storms (and we've had our share recently) if I'm in the loft, I feel a bit like I'm on a ship... My windy winter hallucinations aside, I just wanted to thank you for such good content! Obv. the apple didn't fall far lol. I look forward to starting at the beginning (or some rando spot) and seeing more of your earlier adventures. Fair winds-- and Cheers from Maine! (abbey)
Congratulations. I m enjoying watching your all the channels, fear winds, and following seas 🌊 ⛵️ Greetings from beautiful City Punta Arenas Antarctica Patagonia where strong winds are blowing from Antarctica
Expensive, IMO. A. You're a tourist to spend $ there, so the fee should entice people, not the opposite ,or B.They know you're a poor boat bum so they gotta get the most while they can.
I want this life so bad. I hope by the time my kiddo is out the house the housing market comes back. I want to sell my house and say goodbye to dry land.
I assure you...When your eyeballs can scan a early morning sea as calm as the one they saw reflecting every mirrored exact copy of the blazing orange and pink towering tropical clouds .... that morning coffee will be....... unmatched! ✍)))
The seasonal launch of my ketch "Down Home" is just days away. During the off season for my sailing you provide such interesting dialogue and bring us your adventures in a way that makes us pals and parricipants. Keep sharing and we'll be watching with anticipation for your next episode.
Love the way you say 'Indonesia'. Those logs in heavy seas. Imagine they crash land on your vessel! Loving your adventures. Keep them coming. Fair winds and following seas 😊
Sailed through Kavieng in 1969 enroute from Rabaul to Kapingamarangi ... on to Nukuoro ... and on. Totally enjoy each and every one of your videos!! Wonderfully done.
I really thought this video was good. A good insight to the cruising life with the day to day shit that has to happen. Enjoy your time with the oyster!

Wish you had had UA-cam channel 😛
Uhuru's options and conveniences are outstanding! Goodonyas!
Thanks!
What Design did you Build.
Awesome video as always.
No one deserves a relaxing, smooth passage with amenities more than you. Enjoy!
I think a chilled passage in luxury is just what you deserve :)
That's crazy having to motor 1100 miles! That is truly a beautiful, well appointed boat but I appreciate the realness of your boat and lifestyle. It's one most of us can relate to a lot more.
9:40 omg a just think glassy calm ocean is just one of the most remarkable things...maybe not for sailing but still spectacular.
The only sailing channel I enjoy watching anymore!
Thanks Holly for always putting out quality content that is relatable to the commoner haha! You know how to put together an engaging story and keep me watching all the way to the end.

Wow wow wow wow wow! The best sailing sunset ever! 19:54
It was lovely seeing you able to relax and enjoy some luxury. I truly aspire to be as minimal and solid as you are on the Geck.
Beautiful voice, brave young girl.Fair Winds and Following Seas...⛵🏝️
Beautifully put 😊
Wow, I suspect that is Austrailia's way of convincing cruisers not to sail to Austrailia...
They charge you in 15 min increments to search your boat? That's next level. Alot of sailing channels that come here comment on what the "welcome" is like, and what a rip off it is. (many things)
Yay...creeping up on 100k subscribers! You go, Captain! Cheers! 😄
Looked like fun. Seeing all the trash brings tears to my eyes. People need to be better. Safe travels sister….

no way i'm stopping in Os for that fleecing. How did a country once known for being a laid-back no bs kind of place get so uptight
You earned your rest, last passage was hellacious,eh? Also ...you deserve the 100K!
I think it is so nice to do ,but I couldn't put up with all the customs and inspection. Stay safe.
This boat is like WOW! But you have more adventure with the Gecko. Your self-reliance and confidence is just so inspiring.
Well done Holly! Sailing in the 80s, HF, VHF only sextant, nav tables, almanac, paper charts, So different these days. Welcome to Australia.

Will that was a very different passage from your last passage! Lol.
Morning 😀 welome to Australia 🇦🇺
Yes. Welcome! I'm sorry it cost so much for customs.
What a beautiful boat... but its not as exciting watching... no suspense or drama about what might go wrong... LOL
I would need to do a lot of organizing before my boat could stand a total search, I just spent 3 days to find some Lewmar stripper rings on the boat.
Uhuru is a gorgeous boat, but, Geck has a special place in my heart. Cool to see the ocean so calm it was as if you were traversing a lake. See ya in 2, Hols XO Darcee
I was really enthralled by the pinisi-rigged schooners in Sorong! Thank you for providing such amazing content!
Love your bookmark!
It's multifunctional
Nice book mark!😂
I also have a wind direction and speed indicator that i take with me always. 😎

Holly lovely to hear your safe, it really has put a smile on my face, for this month of May
$50 per 15mins is prohibitively expensive, damn… well thanks for the info.
Wow Holly, i envy the richness of your life. I'm glad you can share your part of the world.

Holly I'm so glad you are doing well. 💕
Hardly recognized the scrubbed up version of Holly. Funny the boat was built in my home town of Ipswich UK. Have fun

Not on a passage but I did hit a submerged log in panama just offshore. Pretty scary!

Happy that you made it yay and sorry that you have to be subjected to Brit authority.

Good times 🎉 I think you had a moment of clarity when comparing uhuru to gecko 🦎 crew plus bigger boat is more comfy
