As a student of American military history, I love it when you show these islands that were in the thick of the fighting during World War II and how they are thriving today. Those children all look so happy. It speaks well for the people that they were able to adapt and return to normal after the hell that was visited on them so many years ago.

In 1976 I went down through the Solomon’s going to Australia. On the way back north we held a ceremony as each ship in line crossed a certain point of iron bottom sound. The ship fired a salut, the Marines fired rifles and a wreath was dropped. Very emotional. USMC

I know you had some experience growing up on boats but it's just so impressive how you were determined in achieving your goal, how you pursued the skills and experiences you needed to get to where you are now- living independently, self reliant, capable! Hi Holly , great to see you again ,I lived in the Philippines for 5 years so I lived on coconut water , so refreshing ,, the big orange thing is called a Pomelo , occasionally available in Aussie supermarkets , the fact it was dry is because it was old ( mature ),,
Hard to know where to go ,, you are right most of costal Queensland have a prevailing south easterly . Its a long hike to Rockhampton , where I live about 1000 N Miles and Pt Douglas in Nth Queensland about 750 N Miles . You are way up the top of the Solomon's ,and I don't know your plans when you are in Aussie , its a shame its probably the most expensive country to visit in the world ,, The Coral Sea is so unpredictable , me personally would go across the Solomon Sea to Muyua Is. and come to Aussie via New Guinea ,,, safe travels 🙂

I have built my modest house myself... My design is after my fav sailboat utilizing marine foot pumps for gravity fed water from a cistern. My toilet is vermiculiture ,the worm castings gravity feeds the raised beds below that feed me. Come to the big island so I can host you and share its beauty. You are an inspiration. Be well and continue to live big.

When joining wires best to stagger the joins so that if it pulls out it can’t short and blow a fuse or do damage. You can for A$10.00 buy a small flame torch which will literally solder wires in about 2 seconds. Not much bigger than a cigarette lighter. Can buy in most service stations.

The band was magnificent! More sophisticated than it would appear. As for the "old" books - I still have all but one on my shelf. They are classic along with a few others. As you point out, much of the information is still valid. People are not going to go cruising [later] in today's race boats; which my husband and I did on our CCA designed boat. Just sold it after 47 years to a couple who have the same plans we did. (But they want refrigeration and more power for today's toys.) When I mentioned cruising authors like the Hiscocks and the Pardeys they had no idea who I was talking about. I hope the old books survive for someone else to learn from. Fair winds. PS. I love that hitch you did with the bucket. Never saw that before.

Great episode, loved the bamboo band, they would hold their own alongside a professional orchestra.
Get yourself some good AMALGAMATING TAPE. (Big letters just to highlight it) if you haven’t used it before it is a sort of rubberised tape that you stretch (4 times it’s at rest length). You stretch it out as you wind it round your wire connections and it bonds chemically to the next layer. It creates a mega seal and lasts for years, even round salt water.
Keep the good work up and keep bringing us your adventures.

Thank you for a great video Holly. This one shines brighter than any I have seen before. As "sailing video's" go this is one of the finest in my opinion. Loved the bucket instructions and the knot lesson too.

I might as well just say it, if WHS is up on my queue I punch the button. Does that make it my #1 YTuber? Yep.

Wind Hippie is a real inspiration to me. Helped me build up enough confidence to take the plunge. My boat is Jezebel port of Nanaimo 🇨🇦. I know, I just doxed myself. 😂 Being able to see things the bamboo orchestra, and the volcano she showed us is why I want to circumnavigate.

That's a pomelo! Grapefruit cousin - yes, always very big, very thick rind, and relatively dry. I like the texture though, kind of fun to eat. Here in SE Asia, most pomelo sellers will help you out by removing the thick rind and often the pith as well. PS the bamboo band is awesome! Thanks for sharing!

Holly, thanks as always for such lovely videos and the great tips for sailing (like never rushing !). And now after several years of following your travels, you have inspired us to set off round the world and we have just spent 2 enjoyable weeks on a friends boat sailing round Moorea, Huahine, Tahaa ... When are you going to write your book ? I always thought a childrens adventure book would be a fantastic idea. Take care !
