Let's not forget the original Macintosh in 1984 cost $2,495. Or over $7,000 today. So the Apple Vision Pro is half the price for technology that's arguably a larger leap forward.
Are you saying I have to wait 40 years before I can afford this thing?
Don’t be stupid.
The original Macintosh was an extreme innovation in a time yet under developed for this. The Apple Vision is just a very well made product that already exist... and heavily overpriced in a time of severe economical decline. I might actually be that this product will be a big step in Apples fall from great heights.
@@revj7397yeah…. Perhaps these headsets will lead to glasses, eye contacts, and so on, but the introduction of this headset is YEARS from being a larger leap forward than the first Mac and first iPhone.

Apple’s strategy is to grow the product slowly and since this is a Pro model it means they’ll introduce a cheaper version eventually. It’s only the beginning. New categories usually upgrades fast
Yep. Spatial computing is the future and it''s Gen 1 product that is extremely expensive to make that is not really meant to be commercially viable as true development work can't really begin until you get the devices into the hands of their intended market. There will be cheaper versions of this device in the future since this called Vision Pro and cheaper non Pro versions will come
@@vlcheish Exactly. Apple knows what they’re doing. The have a specific strategy. They’re betting so big on this and they are usually very precise in their way of doing things
Exactly. People are so shocked by the price, but the first Mac would have been $7,000 in today's money. This thing has 12 cameras, 6 microphones, iris scanner/tracking, 3D movies, 3D camera, spatial audio, and every single UA-camr/Blogger who has experienced the demo is stating that it's exactly how advertised, Marques Brownlee even described it as "magic" which is never done.

Oh, no worries, I will wait a couple of years and get it for $350.

The traditional media often get sugar coated script. She said how light it is unlike mkbhd, sara dietchy, and others said its heavy
It's because disney (owns abc) and apple made deal to bring disney+ to vision pro so it's not hard to assume they get special treatment. And maybe a nudge or two on the shoulder from apple.
I mean she got a private interview with Tim as well. Maybe a special deal to bring the idea to the (non tech) public.
Its because they don’t lift 😂 AirPods Max has weight to it but the comfort of it is something not comparable to other competitors so the weight doesn’t bother, at least me

@radiKal it will end up in the same conversation as a flip phone vs a touchscreen phones in trns of usability. Developers launching new apps and ways to use it will be what takes this tech and future tech like this to the next level. With 48Kb of RAM, It sold for $2,638 ($13,205 in 2023 dollars). It was the first successful personal computer, selling in the millions. For context, in 1977, the median income in the US was $13,570. The 48Kb Apple II was ~20% of the median income.
The Vision Pro puts the personal back in personal computing. You can be completely immersed with a court side seat at a Lakers game, seeing the world or catching up with friends and colleagues. This is going to change the way we think about computing as much or more than the laptop did.
in 1977, most people had good paying jobs. only 1 person had to work for a family of 4 in the house. in summary, most people were not buried in debt back then.

Looks like it is what Magic Leap was supposed to be... maybe. Would be nice if it was that good.
the translucent feature doesn't add anything to your individual experience since it's only simulated, but you know Apple, they want to "humanize" tech, and this is their idea of normalizing VR goggles so you don't look like a creep. The device costs more as a consequence, and adds nothing to your experience. I like it but also hate it. Eventually, it'll be cheaper, and this is the tax early adopters will have to pay. Can’t wait to see what this is 10 years from now. Just implemented pcvr and controller options and I’m sold
What do you think about controlling it with your hand gestures and voice commands instead of dedicated 3D-controllers you hold in your hands? Thanks.
Genuine question for people who meditate - aren't you supposed to close your eyes when you do it? How is staring at some generated images going to put you in a mediative state? I thought you're not supposed to think of anything...no hate to Robin but just really curious to know how that's supposed to help
its essentially a rich kid toys, however, it is also a ground breaking product that will eventually shape the computing world. Just like iPhone did. Apple trully is amazing
Literal tech youtubers with millions of subscribers and views sitting waiting while this lady at good morning america tries the headset.
Remember the first iPhone? Now think about where this can go in 10-15 years.
You should do more interviews with Tim Cook
I like the idea of blending the digital world with the physical world, not going into an entirely digital world
You're a bit wrong on that part. Vision Pro is a mixed reality headset (that involves both augmented reality and virtual reality).
@@rotteneldritch7037 He is not though. The headset can do both and he likes the idea of one of those aspects. That's all he stated.
@@MrBreakthompson I see
@@rotteneldritch7037actually it’s all digital. The real world is projected from the camera to the screen/lenses
It is completely digital. The presentation didn't make this clear. There is not a single photon that can shine through. 100% opaque. You only see through cameras with their own set of lens flare, dynamic contrast etc
We appreciate it very much, Tim Apple.
Yup, I’d like to get one asap. I bought a Quest by Meta (as a joke) since I thought it was a fad. Then I put it on and was amazed. I’m a convert. I can only imagine how Apple has improved the experience. Also, Meta has already lowered its prices and next version is 40% slimmer. The tech and prices for VR devices will improve over time - it all looks promising. Eventually (like in 100-years) no more goggles, but rather eye contacts.
100 years? 😂
@@oaki5286 for decent AR eye contact lenses, yes…
100 years is a crazy time. Expect the version one of something like that in the next 10 years lol. Already micro-chipped lens are a thing!!
@@helloyou. Mojo Lens already has a working prototype with power, cpu, wireless & 4 times the resolution of Vision Pro.. it'll take time to get to mainstream but nowhere near as long as you think. We'll be way past AR/VR in 100y! Think holosuites from Star Trek with full tactile feedback.
100 years is a long time with how fast technology is progressing, by then we'll be using brain computer interfaces instead
this isn’t the first AR/VR product, but Apple is always patient and they put everything they have into a product. eventually it’ll drop in price. it is a Pro product, so i imagine a regular version is in the works where it’ll be a tad more attainable for most. right now it’s a niche product. but it’s going to revolutionize how AR/VR will be going forward. i would personally love this product to replace my iPad and computer at home. i’d love this on a plane, so i can truly immerse myself in a movie instead of seeing the plane and passengers. i want to forget i’m in a flying sardine can. lol.
You combine the price of the tech inside, it should cost over $12K and it would be worth it even then. This photographic/computer immersive platform looks like magic. Apple really stepped up the game. I haven't been this impressed since the first iPhone.
It’s basically the Meta Quest Pro ($999) with higher resolution and a screen on the outside. Where are the exclusive games, social apps?
@@jeremyf9124it's not meant for gaming. you can stick to the meta quest. the vision pro is for mainly work
Wow. That's pretty affordable at $34.99
34.99 a day 100 days
Ha ha. That’s what I thought
@@johnyaxon__ plus tax
I can’t wait for the 2nd generation so I can jump in the bandwagon🙌🏽
Something I love is that Facebook have been trying to create the "Metaverse" is all the wrong ways, and they will finally be proven wrong. I hate that Facebook cannot make a software product that works. Love to see them fail. Of course, the hardware with Apple is more expensive, but the software experience will be on another level compared to Horizon whatever shit they call it.
lol I read an article the other day that said Horizon Worlds only had 30 active users on average a day lmao.
@@smks8er That can’t be accurate. Im on it almost every night for an hour and lobby’s for all the different worlds are always packed
It's a bad idea to have a screen right in front of your face
@@rwyo83 Educate yourself a bit on that. Screens close to your face are only bad because your focusing your eyes to closely. However, VR headsets don’t have that issue because you are focusing your eyes in the distance. It’s basically simulating how your eyes work
@@juan2049 It will damage you eyes, ask Elon Musk
Is there any Hermes pouch for the external battery? I am more interested in that.
No surround sound. One ear in the device and other outside the device to hear your surroundings. Tim Cook doesn't want to touch the isolation question.
Price sounds expensive. But if one adds up the cost of all gadgets they already own including laptop, iPhone and TV - it’s not that terribly much
Lol all the bots came out to support Amazon. Next time, don't post all at once.
Does it cause Flashbacks after use? Very common condition after using a VR headset. You walk around and everytime you blink you see images burned into your eyes.
Can you sync multiple together for a group viewing experience or family time?
For what you get the price is not too high because there is nothing like VisionPro on the market. The other VR headsets use controllers or are heavy or have other disadvatages. With VisionPro you do not only get 2 x 4k but 3D its a great experience for people who already using a Mac or iPad and considering buying a new device because I believe strongly it can to a certain degree give you something which other devices can not deliver.
its an amalgamation of multiple devices. A TV, a sound system, a computer etc. Its what the iPhone was 15 years ago.
3500 dollars is a huge number. Super fans would go it first, followed by cheaper alternatives later in a cheaper price. I would then try it. Hope they can come up with colorful choices. It is good to see technology develoment.
I am not really trying to justify the price but when you consider having around 3 4k monitors, a high end computer and portability it does make sense. It will have to live up to the expectation though.
Well, my wife's handbag cost more than that...And it does not do anything impressive. And she has more than one handbag.
When people say it’s a high price it just blows my mind like dude this thing is freaking amazing and maybe you weren’t alive for it but a 32” plasma tv cost over $10,000 when they first came out so $3,500 for a portable iMax theatre that is also a computer and smartphone is a deal in my book.
@@YinLawnHahaha great point. I swear when people talk about how expensive this is I just assume they are 10 years old because I can think of hundreds of things that cost way more than $3,500 which doesn’t do a fraction what this device does.
If you live in Alaska and don't have kids just use your PFD😂
A great answer from Tim there. He doesn’t know if the cost is prohibitive but that is the cost they need to push it out there. 1st gen product. I’d expect a slow burn and in 5 years the cost is maybe half. How that translates to adoption and how we see improvements to battery etc we shall just have to wait and see. Really really cool technology with exciting possibilities.
He knows it’s prohibitive. Apple’s pricing it this way to make it seem better than it is, because they’re behind. Meta has many games, social apps, has sold 20 million units. You could buy a Meta Quest 2 for the sales tax on a Vision Pro. The Quest 3 will be 1/7th the price, and Quest Pro is less than 1/3rd.
@@jeremyf9124Make it seem better”? Quest Pro has 1/3 the resolution of the Vision and yet 4x the latency. It used a mid-level Snapdragon processor; Vision has a MacBook pro processor.
Every review I’ve seen says the passthrough is blurry making it impossible to read other displays.
Quest Pro was given a 4/10 by the Verge - “I cannot imagine making a business decision in this software”.
The CNET reviewer said the desktop mirroring was worse than using regular displays, and the lag made it nearly impossible to be productive or even enjoy watching video. It has “few optimized apps”; Vision hasn’t launched yet obviously but it’s compatible with all iOS apps (they just need basic UI optimization) and can instantly mirror anything run on the Mac.
These are not comparable devices.

I would like to know if any one experience headaches when using these. Both times I try it I got really bad headaches.
I would love to buy one! Even if the price remains same. 🤯
I wonder if Vision Pro will be the "iPhone" of our decades and for the decades to come
I think it might👀
I know it will. I haven’t been wrong yet. I remember telling people the iPhone would change everything, I remember telling people that one day owning a tablet will be the norm and that the Apple Watch would be on most peoples wrists.
that's Apple's big plan
Hmmm... at $3500 wondering if there will be a line of people waiting out the door for them?
No.

I could definitely see universities getting behind it. Especially Architecture/Engineering programs using it for CAD. Collaborating in real-time on a design and seeing it in the physical space could be huge. Additionally, I could see better-funded grade schools taking advantage of it as well. My elementary school had Macs and those cost roughly the same (albeit that was years ago but they weren't cheap then either).
@@gabelogan5877 how old are you lmfao. I’m talking about college and universities. University of Minnesota Rochester in the United States where I go uses oculus for labs and anatomy. This would be amazing and the ability to study!? It would be crazy, 3,500 is close to a computer and an investment I would 1,000 percent be willing to make in the sake of my education. Like Apple insinuates it’s for select demographics (work, education, entertainment/connection).
@@Yohannesburg definitely universities with billion dollars hedge funds like MIT or rich white school districts but the masses, give me a break. @@mikebell1018 😄 yup but the experience with the glasses will be more immersive and u can even change the scenery, that can't do in the physical cinema.
That is easily done w this device. VR headsets do this already (local & remote friends) so this is certainly capable.
parasocial experiences exactly the opposite of what people need - especially youth. as a computing device this will probably amazing. unfortunately i dont think most will use it that way
Start saving now. You will need $10 per day to get there by June of next year. Think about all the things you buy that you don’t really need in the course of a week. Star bucks? That extra trio to McDonald’s? Ordering out for lunch at work? Most people who work can budget $10 a day and not even notice it. Would be a huge payoff imo

I foresee a less Pro coming out shortly when it catches up so they will get the midrange users!!!
I hope so, something in the $1500 price point would be interesting.
This is the first media interview that shows an actual person wearing the headset
Yup noticed that too! MKBHD couldn’t even get permission to film himself in it
I think the end goal will be to shrink this down to a seamless form factor like a pair of reading glasses/sunglasses and at the same time have it priced reasonably. That’s where I envision this tech going.
I agree. This version will look clunky compared to where they'll take it in the coming years.
I would like to know how are they going to incorporate a usable keyboard? The onboard keyboard on the iPad is not very good
