If I just want to upgrade for the Apple CarPlay and larger screen, and not any navigation or satellite radio, is it still necessary to connect the antenna?

Installing the antenna does actually help reduce data consumption when utilizing the maps in Apple Carplay/Android Auto.

How long did it take to change radio from 5” to 7” and adding satellite antenna?

We recommend setting aside approximately 1-2 hours

I don’t see anywhere that it mentions disconnecting the battery… do I need to disconnect others main and auxiliary battery? If so, how do I do that for the aux battery?

You'll just want to make sure that your vehicle is off while doing the install.

I don't want xm radio but how do you connect just the gps antenna on a 8.4 radio?

So if the radio features both XM and GPS (We're talking all 8.4" models from 2013-2021 factory) then you will either have to shave the key off of the yellow antenna so you can plug a GPS only antenna (GPS antennas that don't feature XM are keyed Blue, and won't plug into the yellow connector since the key is different). Alternatively, we do sell this antenna you can use that is GPS only, but we put the yellow connector on it so it would fit one of the older Mygig radios, but the GPS antenna itself works for all.

Alternatively, if the radio has a blue antenna connector and not a yellow, you can use this antenna!

Is connecting the satellite antenna necessary?

Yes. Everything in this video is necessary to make the install work as seamlessly as possible.
