Done on my 17 Alltrack. Other MK7 MQB platforms are similar if not the same. I replaced the bearing about 2 months ago and have about 1500 miles on it.
Thanks for the video. My father has a mk 7 gti and the dealer wanted something crazy like 700 just for the labor. Watching this video I have no doubt I can do this in an hour or two.
200nm applied with car off the ground, then the 180 degrees on the ground with someone with their foot on the break pedal. Failure to to do so could damage wheel bearing.
Did you have any lights come on the dash ? My 2016 jetta trendline + has a abs light airbag light traction control light and a steering warning light and I took my car to a shop that only works on vws the said it was due to the left rear wheel bearing and abs sensor 450 to be replaced. Car has 107,000 kms
Any further tips on getting the axle to come out? I pounded on mine with a socket but it won’t budge and I’m not sure how to proceed. Does it need to be at a certain angle? I’m afraid to keep hitting it hard since a damaged axle is the last thing I want.
MfG Ein Deutscher Mechaniker
I learned to get the 12mmspline bolts out with knuckle on car. then re-install tire with1 bolt and kick tire on opposite sides and ive had one ton trucks to VWs always pop out without pounding back there. -- your bearing looks shot.

What brand of breaker bar is that? I like how it supports itself around the head. My Snap On doesn't even do that.
Harbor frieght. I haven't broke one yet.
how many miles did it have before the change>?
30,000 some odd miles
@@scirockalot8v I have a 2017 gti. Still rides like new. 140k
Hi sir how many miles was on your car when you replaced the wheel bearing ? , Thanks.
Little over 30,000.
@@scirockalot8v german engineers now spend their time trying to engineer failure 10K after the warranty runs out, I swear.
Mine has 225k miles on it and still on originals. A bad pothole can destroy a bearing. Once moisture gets in it’s ruined.

Is there a secret to reconnect to the control arm?
I put a jack underneath the newly replaced bearing and jacked it up a little bit so that the control arm had room to move up into place easily
