Here's a tip for you... My Dad used to train our golden retrievers. If they're claiming items you don't want them to have, it can be helpful to get them one of their own & take back the ones you want/need. You have to be consistent over time to get them to realise that the items are yours, not theirs (because they've claimed it for a period of time), but giving them one of their own dramatically increases the success of training them to leave your versions of the item alone.
