I though getting stationed at Fort Lewis was going to be a drag. Little did I know, I would fall in love with the Olympic Peninsula and WA in general. Even though I will be leaving WA next year to go home for college, I will always be on the lookout for the chance to go back to the Olympics. If you are considering going, DO IT! Even if there is a little rain, go anyway. One of the most amazing places in the country.
You bet! The Pacific Ocean has some good waves and surf. We kayak year round on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, finding some nice calm water depending on the wind and tides. Puget Sound and Hood Canal can often be flat and glassy. They also can whip up a white-capped surface. Depends on the weather, tides, current, wind. Always gorgeous!
@mrslovettstailor. The fall scene at about 1:16 is the Elwha River. This is the river that is having two dams removed this summer to help restore the legendary salmon runs.

Thank you for the reminder, why we live here. This video captures most of the essence of the Peninsula. Thanks for sharing.

Chris McDevitt. Thanks for the "chamber of commerce" comment. A little (or a lot) of rain only adds to our mystique!

This would have been a spectacular video had you not used picture in picture. It ruins it for me.
